CHECKLIST FOR APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN
Assessment instrument that can assist parent in the involvement of the social
development of the child.
RATIONALE OF ITS USE
The belief that parents must be actively involved in the social development of their
children is unnecessary because parents will always be involved in the formation of the childssocial perception and social skills, whether the parents are conscious of this or not.
Purpose of the test
To obtain information based on the directed observation of parents on their childrenssocial behaviors and social competencies.
To measure a childs change in behavior over a time of following a treatmentAdministration of the test
Self- administration- parent or guardian may answer the questions by himself or herself.
Interview- may have the assistance of an interviewer in going through the questions of the test.
Two sections
First section-sports
-organizations-friendship
-games
-hobbies
-chores-other similar activities
Second section-behavior
-emotional problems (observed by parents during last six months)

Assistive technology
It enables children with disabilities to participate more fully in all aspects of life(home,school and community) and helps them access their right to a free appropriate, public
education in the least restrictive environment.
Importance of assistive technology It increases a students opportunities for education, social interactions and potential formeaningful employment.
It supports a students participation in learning experiences in the least restrictiveenvironment.
Assistive technology checklist
This resource provides a range of information on assistive technology, assessment andselection of tools, examples of best practice and classroom success stories and a list of
built- in access features for various operating systems.
