CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS
A crucial conversation is a way of dealing with differences of opinion or conflict, and engaging effectively in dialogue with others.
It is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary and emotions run strong.
When you are in a situation like this there are three options: you could avoid it, you could face it and handle the discussion poorly or you can face it and handle the discussion well.
On this programme, you will develop the confidence to solve problems and step up to the leadership challenge of managing successful crucial conversations.
ON THIS PROGRAMME YOU WILL:
• Increase your awareness of your own style and behaviour under stress
• Be able to use a simple model for engaging in dialogue
• Understand the principles for structuring a safe environment for dialogue
• Practice skills for crucial conversations including listening and offering feedback
• Work on developing confidence to face a crucial conversation
• Apply what you learn to your own situation

LEARNERS
This programme is for staff and directors of third sector organisations, as well as public sector organisations working with them, who are interested in developing skills in crucial conversations.
It is especially ideal for previous Academy learners who have completed leadership or personal development programmes and are interested in continuing their learning and development.
PROGRAMME FEE
With the support of Scottish Government, we are able to offer this programme at a highly subsidised fee of £50 to third sector learners and £150 to public sector learners.
