How? POP in to Croton’s Eureka Math Night on Thursday, October 11 th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm for Croton’s Family Math Night. We will be giving families information about the Eureka Math curriculum. Families will learn about Eureka vocabulary and lesson routines when they visit the cafeteria. Teachers at each grade level will be presenting a lesson so that families get a feel for what students experience during Eureka instruction. (Popcorn will be served) Brevard Public Schools is changing their grade reporting system to FOCUS. Beginning October 15 th , parents may access the new system as the teachers will begin entering assignments and grades for the second quarter. Teachers will input grades and content weekly for parents to review. The grades reflect how students are doing on an on-going basis towards mastery of standards. National School Lunch Week “School Lunch: Lots 2 Love”

October 15 - 19, 2018

Croton is once again participating in International Walk to School

Day on Wednesday, October 10th. Ms. Walters is the sponsor of

this exciting event. Everyone is invited to participate. Arrive at a

meeting place between 7:00 - 7:15 a.m.

Encourage healthy eating and an active lifestyle at home

Croton will be collecting non-perishable foods, basic hygiene

items, and baby needs (no glass containers please) to benefit

local food banks. Donations may be sent in with your child or

dropped off by you at Croton. Thank you for your generosity!

Attention parents of 4th - 6th graders: Your child’s FSA scores have been sent home. An explanation of scores is on our website and has been sent via Peachjar. If you would like to meet and discuss your child’s scores, please contact your child’s classroom teacher and/or Mrs. Kuntz-Murphy at [email protected].

Positive Behavior Support Focus for October

Each month we will be recognizing students in every class who

exhibit the monthly character traits. Students will have their names

read on the morning announcements and receive a certificate of

recognition and a necklace for their trait. Names and pictures will

be displayed on the hallway trees around the school. Be sure to

check out the COOPERATIVE tree and the ACTIVE LEARNER tree for

our recent recipients.

The Monthly Traits Are:

August/January- Patience, Flexibility, Problem Solving (Cooperative)

September/February- Effort, Perseverance, Personal Best (Active Learner)

October/March- Integrity, Communication, Truthful (Respectful)

As a team, our committee is looking forward to serving Croton Elementary's vision for the 2018-2019 school year; which is to provide "A positive community of respectful, responsible, and educated citizens of tomorrow”. We will be meeting again on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the Media Center. All are welcome, please join us!

Have you ever wanted to be a Mad Scientist? Now is your chance! On

Thursday, October 4th, Croton Elementary’s Title I Department will be

hosting a day designated to science exploration. On this day, students

will be able to dress up as Mad Scientists. The sky is the limit with

costume ideas; however school board policies and

dress code need to be followed.

Families of students in grades 4th – 6th are invited

and encouraged to join us for Science Fair Night,

also being held on October 4th from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
