2. Speak fluently using correct and acceptable pronunciation.

Fluent and clear speech with good use of pauses. Correct pronunciation most of the time with occasional lapses. Ability to articulate clearly using proper/correct/acceptable word

stress/rhythm and intonation.

3. Speak coherently Smooth flow of well-organised ideas presented through the use of discourse markers and linkers.

4. Speak the language using a wide range of appropriate vocabulary within context.

Correct and effective use of language to fulfil task with clarity using a variety of language functions in context.

with appropriate responses. Adequate understanding of topic but with limited ability to sustain a

conversation. Some relevant and appropriate responses.

2. Speak fluently using correct and acceptable pronunciation.

Fairly fluent and clear speech with frequent and long pauses. Effort made to articulate clearly, but presentation marked by a number

of words wrongly pronounced which do not distort meaning. Generally satisfactory word stress, rhythm and intonation but may

occasionally falter.

3. Speak coherently Flow of ideas is interrupted by use of inappropriate discourse markers and linkers.

4. Speak the language using a wide range of appropriate vocabulary within context.

Satisfactory use of language and task is partially fulfilled. Ability to perform some language functions in context with very few

interesting expression. Fair range of vocabulary and meaning is generally understood. Some evidence of inappropriately used vocabulary.

5. Speak using correct grammar Satisfactory use of language with some errors but meaning is mostly clear.

2. Speak fluently using correct and acceptable pronunciation.

Fluency is interrupted by consistent halting and long pauses. Frequent errors in pronunciation, word stress and intonation but

meaning is fairly clear/comes through/is not distorted/may be distorted

3. Speak coherently Minimal or no flow of ideas.

4. Speak the language using a wide range of appropriate vocabulary within context.

Minimal use of language and task is barely fulfilled. Able to perform only limited language functions in context. Limited range of vocabulary. Frequent use of inappropriate vocabulary which distort meaning.

5. Speak using correct grammar Consistent grammatical errors which disrupt meaning.

intonation, word stress and rhythm.

3. Speak coherently Very minimal or no flow of ideas.

4. Speak the language using a wide range of appropriate vocabulary within context.

Hardly any use of language and task is not fulfilled. Unable to perform any language functions in context. Very limited vocabulary – unable to make sense of vocabulary.

5. Speak using correct grammar Excessive grammatical errors Meaning is totally distorted
