Entries will be done on-line this year by the 4-H Leaders and Ag Teachers. All fees and

a copy of your on-line receipt must be sent to the OSU Extension and must be

postmarked no later than Friday, January 28, 2011. Entry fee must be paid on each

amount entered. Fees are: Swine, $13.00/head; Sheep and Goats $13.00/head;

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. INTERPRETATIONS, AMENDMENTS, AND VIOLATIONS

The Creek County Fair Board reserves the final and absolute right to interpret all

rules and regulations in this premium book, and arbitrarily settle and determine all

matters, questions and differences in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of,

connected with, or incident to the Show. The Fair Board reserves the right to

amend or add to these rules as they, in their judgment, may deem advisable.

2. SHOW RING CODE OF ETHICS.

Believing it is in the best interest of all breeders of all livestock to maintain a

reputation of integrity and to continue to present a wholesome and progressive

image in the show ring, the following list of practices are considered

unacceptable in the presentation of livestock. The use of such practices or

procedures is, therefore, considered a violation of the Rules and Regulations of

this show.

• Misrepresenting the age of any animal.

• Treating or massaging any part of the body of an animal, internally or externally

with an irritant, counter-irritant, or any other substance to temporarily straighten

a weak back or loin or to produce unnatural animation.

• Minimize the effects of cramps by feeding or injecting drugs, depressants or

applying packs or using any artificial contrivance or therapeutic treatment except

normal exercise.

• Striking the animal to cause swelling.

• Surgery or any other procedure performed to change the natural process of

growth, maturation, contour or appearance of any animal, to include teeth, is

prohibited. Not included is the removal of teats or horns, castration, clipping and

dressing of hair and trimming of hooves.

• Insertion of foreign material under the skin.

• Any attempt to change natural color of an animal at the show, by changing the

color or adding false hair, fleece or skin at any point or area of the animal, unless

exempted in the individual species rules.

* The use of alcoholic beverages in the feed or administered as a drench is expressly prohibited.

* The practice of artificial filling internally or by pumping or any other device is prohibited unless otherwise specified by the species rule.

* Administration of a drug internally or externally, prior to entering the show ring, except for treating a recognized disease or injury, or tranquilizing females in heat.

The use of any chemical and/or compound that is not approved by the Food and

Drug Administration for use in meat producing animals and the illegal use of

approved chemicals or compounds are prohibited. All animals are subject to

tests for foreign substances that exceed the acceptable levels established by the

USDA, FDA or EPA. A positive test will result in disqualification, forfeiture of

any premiums and/or awards and will exclude the exhibitor from future

competition at the Creek County Livestock Show. All exhibitors shall follow

label guidelines and adhere to withdraw times for any medications administered

prior to or during the show.

* Criticizing or interfering with the judge, other exhibitors, breed representatives, or show officials before, during, or after the event.

* Any violation of the Rules and Regulations may result in forfeiture of all premiums and awards, disqualification of entry, expulsion or probation of the

exhibitor, organized group, and individual or livestock involved. All disciplinary

actions of the Management will be final. Such action will require application for

readmission under terms the Management may prescribe before the group or

individual is allowed to exhibit at future events. Anyone (including, but not

limited to Exhibitors, Ag Teachers, Parents, Friends, and Relatives) involved with

livestock exhibited at the Creek County Livestock Show is to abide by the Rules

and Regulations of the show. Violators will be disciplined by the fair board.

3. The individual Species Committee will have the right and duty to interpret and

act on any violation of the rules. Two of the three Species Committee members

can act to disqualify any exhibit in which a rule violation has occurred. The

decision of that committee will be final.

4. Livestock must be shown by their owners, in class, as well as sale order. Any

exemptions to this rule must have prior approval by the individual Species

Committee, except in the case of an exhibitor having multiple animals in the

class or sale order drive. Violations to this rule will result in the animal being

pulled from the class or sale order. The animal will be disqualified.

5. The sponsors of the Creek County Livestock Show have always paid in full with

cash premiums, but, if for any reason the money appropriated is insufficient, the

cash premium will be discounted pro-rate.

6. The exhibitor must own and have in possession all livestock according to the

following dates:

Market Steers- October 28, 2010

Market Lambs/Goats - November 11, 2010

Goats- November 11, 2010

Breeding Ewes- November 11, 2010

Heifers- December 3, 2010

All Swine- December 17, 2010

Prospect Steers- January 28, 2011

7. All animals will be available for verification site visit by Fair Board. If animals not

in possession, exhibitor will be brought before Fair Board for further advice.

8. No livestock can be replaced nor nominations be changed after the ownership

dates. Animals may be nominated by family with designation of individual at

show.

9. Exhibitors 9 years and older must be a 4-H or FFA member in good standing and

must be a resident of Creek County or attend a Creek County School to be

eligible to show. Exhibitor must be at least 7 years old by the date of the

Livestock Show. Exhibitors between the age of 7 and 9 years old must be a

Cloverbud and have an age verification card on file at the OSU Extension Office.

10. An exhibitor may not show in more than one County Livestock Show in

Oklahoma in one year.

11. Designation of FFA Chapter or 4-H Club will be required on the pre-entry form.

This designation will be final. No changes allowed.

12. Any exceptions to any rule will be decided by the individual Species Committee.

13. Exhibitors will not be allowed to stay overnight in barns.

14. All livestock must be in assigned area of the fairgrounds at the designated times

found in the schedule of events, and remain in place until the conclusion of

showmanship of that species. Animals will be released by the announcer. Any

exhibitor who violates this rule will have any exhibits banned from the Premium

Sale and will forfeit any and all prize money won.

15. This Show is a part of a Youth Educational Program; therefore the exhibitor

must be involved with the grooming and care for their own animals.

16. Only one animal may be sold by an exhibitor in the Premium Sale per year.

17. Each Exhibitor selected for the Premium Sale is required to attend and exhibit

their animal in the sale ring. Failure to attend the Premium Sale will result in

forfeiture of Premium money. Extreme emergencies may be grounds for

exemption to this rule, but only with the prior approval of the Fair Board.

18. All exhibitors should write thank you notes to Buyers and Donors.

19. The duty of tearing down the pens from the Premium Sale will belong to each

community under the direction of its Agriculture Education teacher on a

rotational basis. This will be done in a timely fashion.

20. Health Requirements: Swine must have an official health certificate, or an

official test chart showing a Negative Pseudo rabies test and Brucellosis

conducted after December 1, 2010. Swine that originate from a Qualified

Pseudo rabies Free Herd may be exempt from the test, provided they are being

exhibited by direct family members of the Owners of that Qualified Pseudo rabies

Free Herd. Any animal may be removed from the show by members of the

individual Species Committee, if found to have any contagious disease or

condition. All sheep and goats must abide by state regulations for Scrapies.

21. Buyers Social: The “buyers only” social will be the responsibility of the Creek

County Ag and 4-H groups. Rotated duties of picking up the meal, serving, and

clean-up will be as follows:

2011 – Mannford/Oilton

2012 – Bristow/Depew

2013 – Kellyville/Sapulpa

2014 – Drumright/Olive

22. It is the responsibility of all exhibitors, parents, family, and friends to know and

abide by the Rules and Regulations of this show. Violations will not be excused

because of someone not being informed of all Rules.

23. EXHIBITORS DRESS CODE: FFA official jacket and shirt with collar. 4-H white

shirt with collar with emblem or 4-H green jacket. Blue or black jeans, slacks, or

skirts for Show & Sale. 7 & 8 year olds – jeans and white shirt.

24. DRESSING ANIMALS FOR SALE: Light glitter and/or a ribbon only.

25. PROTESTS: A protest (in writing) on rules violations will be accepted by the

Species Committee along with a $100 cash deposit. If rule infraction is

validated the $100 will be refunded. Protests will be accepted from beginning of

the show on Thursday up thru and including the Premium Sale.

26. SHOWMANSHIP: There will be four (4) classes of Showmanship in each

species – Peewee – 7 & 8 years old; Junior – 9-12 years old; Intermediate – 13-

15 years old; and Senior – 16-18 years old. Each class winner will receive a

jacket. Each division winner will then compete for the overall species

showmanship award. This winner will receive a belt buckle and will be

presented at the Premium Sale at 6:45 p.m.

PREMIUM SALE Tuesday, March 8, 2011 FAIR FACILITY ARENA

Forty-Two (42) market hogs, eleven (11) market steers, fourteen (14) market lambs, and thirteen (13) goats will be in the auction. On all breeding animals – heifers, does, ewes and gilts – one (1) will make the Premium Sale if 10-19 are exhibited, and two (2) animals if 20 or more are exhibited – no more than two in each category, unless otherwise specified by a species rule. If any spot or spots excluding the County Bred Heifer is left unfilled, that spot will be put into a drawing with all the divisions represented and drawn for. The first alternate from that division will move into the unfilled spot unless the Swine division is drawn. If the Swine division is drawn there will be a second drawing just among the breeds of swine to determine the alternate that will move up.

BEEF DIVISION Beef Committee: Perry Collins, Pecos McNiel, and Kathy Gann

Breeding Beef Rules

Nomination Process:

• All Heifers must be owned by December 3, 2010. Proof of ownership

required. (Examples: Registration papers, bill of sale, or letter from Ag

Teacher or Extension Agent.)

* All Heifers will be nominated at the Creek County Fairgrounds on December 3, 2010 between 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

* At Nomination all Heifers must have a tattoo that matches registration papers or bill of sale to show in a Purebred Class. All others will be tagged.

* All Registered Heifers must keep the same breed designation used at the nomination date. Any changes will cause the Heifer to show in commercial

class.

1. All Heifers will be positively identified from the registration papers and the Creek

County Nomination Forms at the Creek County Livestock Show when they are

checked in by the Beef Committee.

2. Heifers must be born on or after January 1, 2009.

3. No more than 3 Heifers may be shown by any one exhibitor.

4. All registered Heifers must have registration papers listing the exhibitor as the

sole owner (No Family, Ranch, or Partnership) at the check in during the Creek

County Livestock Show.

5. Cattle exhibitors may use colored adhesives on similar colored hair and hoof

dressing on hooves. Touch up paint is allowed as long as it does not violate

General Rules Rule Number Two.

6. There must be 3 or more registered heifers of the same breed entered and

eligible on the day of the show to recognize that breed in the show. If less than

3 registered heifers, they will show as AOB. All Non-Registered Heifers will

show as Commercial heifers.

7. Breed classes will be broken by the Beef Committee. Registered Heifers will

show by age. Commercial Heifers will be shown by weight. There will be no

more than a 6 month age difference among the registered heifers. Commercial

heifers will be broken according to the following guidelines: 1-4 heifers – 1

class; 5-8 no more than 2 classes; 9+ - no more than 3 classes.

8. Only Grand and Reserve Grand will make the Premium Sale by the following

criteria: One heifer will make Premium Sale if 10-19 heifers are exhibited; two

heifers if 20 or more are exhibited. No more than 2 heifers will be sold in the

Premium Auction. The judge will select sale order and alternates. (See Rule #5

under County Bred Heifers).

9. An animal may only sell in the Premium Sale once in its lifetime.

10. Showmanship for all cattle exhibitors will follow the conclusion of the Steer

Premium Sale line up. Classes are based on the age of the exhibitor as of the

day of the show. Only exhibitors that have cattle entered in their name and

exhibited by the owner are eligible. (If you just showed an animal that belonged

to someone else, you CANNOT compete in showmanship.) Age Divisions are as

follows:

Peewee – 7 & 8 years old

Junior – 9, 10, 11, or 12 years old

Intermediate – 13, 14 or 15 years old

Senior – 16, 17, or 18 years old

COUNTY BRED HEIFERS

1. Heifers must be calved by a Creek County School District resident or calved in

Creek County.

2. Heifers cannot be shown in both Breed classes and County Bred classes.

3. County Bred Champion Heifer will line up for overall Grand Champion.

4. Owner must have registration papers or a letter from the breeder indicating that

the calf is County Bred at nomination. The letter must be signed by Ag teacher

or 4-H leader and exhibitor.

5. If five (5) or more heifers are entered in the County Bred division, the Champion

County Bred heifer will be allowed in the Premium Sale as the 3rd overall heifer

sold. If the Champion County Bred heifer is Grand or Reserve overall heifer, the

total number of heifers in the sale will remain at two (2).

MARKET STEER RULES

Nomination Process:

• All Steers will be nominated at the Creek County Fairgrounds on

October 28, 2010 between 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. If nominating at OKC, you

do not have to nominate here. Members of the Beef Committee and Sherman

Grubb will classify all steers.

1. All steers will be positively identified with an OKC Spring Fair Tag or Creek

County Nomination tag at the Creek County Livestock Show when they are

measured and weighed by the Beef Committee.

2. No more than 2 market steers may be shown by any one exhibitor.

3. Market steers must weigh at least 950 pounds on day of show. First weight is

official, if within official limits. (Those weighing over 900 pounds will be given

one reweigh.) All steers weighing less than 950 pounds must show as

prospects and are not eligible for the Premium Sale.

4. Cattle exhibitors may use colored adhesives on similar colored hair and hoof

dressing on hooves. Touch up paint is allowed as long as it does not violate

General Rules Rule Number Two.

5. There must be 3 or more steers of the same breed entered and eligible on the

day of the show to recognize that breed in the show. If less than 3, they will

show as cross.

6. Breed classes will be broken by the Beef Committee by weight, within the

following guidelines: 1-4 head – 1 class; 5-8 head – no more than 2 classes; 9

or more – no more than 3 classes.

7. The weight of the steer will be provided to the judge.

8. Eleven (11) steers are eligible for the Premium Sale.

9. After Champion and Reserve Champion of each breed are selected, the judge will

line up as many steers as he/she and the Beef Committee deems necessary for a

preliminary sale order.

10. Showmanship for all cattle exhibitors will follow the conclusion of the final Steer

Premium Sale line up. Only exhibitors that have cattle entered in their name, and

exhibited by the owner are eligible. (If you just show an animal that belonged to

someone else you CANNOT compete in showmanship.) Classes are based on

the age of the exhibitor as of the day of the show. Age Divisions are as follows:





Overall Beef Showmanship Award

COUNTY BRED STEER

1. Steers must be calved by a Creek County School District resident or calved in

Creek County.

2. Steers cannot be shown in both open and County Bred classes.

3. County Bred Champion steer will line up for overall Grand Champion.

4. Owner must have a letter from the breeder to show that the calf is County Bred

on Nomination Day – October 28, 2010. The letter must be signed by Ag

teacher or 4-H leader and exhibitor.

5. All steers are eligible for Premium Sale and will line up for sale order. The

Champion County Bred Steer will be selected for the Premium Sale in at least the

eleventh slot.

6. There must be Three or more county bred steers to be guaranteed 11th slot in

the sale.

BEST GROOMED STEER – RICKY LARKIN MEMORIAL

1. Sign up at weigh in.

2. Judged on student’s participation resulting in the best groomed animal.

MARKET GOAT DIVISION Goat Committee: Bob Pruitt, Terry Spencer, Keith Nation, and

Todd Hallman

Market Goat Rules

Nomination Process:

* All Market Goats must be owned by November 11, 2010.

* All Market Goats will be nominated at the Creek County Fairgrounds on November 11, 2010, between 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with the Goat Committee

and Sherman Grubb.

* No more than 3 market goats may be shown by any one exhibitor.

1. Does and wethers may be shown and will be placed in the same classes.

2. Goats will not be mouthed.

3. All market goats will be weighed by the Market Goat Committee and placed into

class. No weigh back.

4. At the time of show, market goats must be slick shorn above the hocks and

knees with the hair not exceeding a length of 3/8 inch.

5. Hair compounds, including oils, paints, powders, and other dressings are not

allowed.

6. The minimum weight for market goats is 50 pounds. The maximum weight will

be130 pounds.

7. Thirteen (13) market goats are eligible for the Premium Sale.

8. Showmanship for all goat exhibitors will follow the conclusion of the final

Premium Sale line up. Only exhibitors that have a market goat entered in their

name and exhibited by the owner are eligible.

9. Classes are based on the age of the exhibitor as of the day of show. Age

divisions are as follows:



Intermediate – 13, 14, or 15 years old


Overall Goat Showmanship Award

10. Goats are to be set up in their natural state and not be braced as a lamb would

be.

11. The practice of “drenching” goats is acceptable at the Creek County Livestock

Show.

BREEDING DOES

1. Does will show by weight, not age. Does will be weighed by the goat

committee. Minimum weight for does will be 50 pounds and maximum weight

for does will be 150 pounds.

2. Does do not have to be slick shorn to show.

3. All breeding does must be owned by November 11, 2010.

4. An exhibitor may nominate and show three (3) does for the breeding class.

* All Market Lambs will be nominated at the Creek County Fairgrounds on November 11, 2010, between 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with the Sheep Committee

and Sherman Grubb.

1. All Market Lambs will be positively identified from OKC Nomination tag and/or

the Creek County Nomination tag at the Creek County Livestock Show.

2. No more than 3 Market Lambs may be shown by any one exhibitor. Ewes (with

no visible signs of pregnancy) or Wethers may be shown.

3. Lambs will not be mouthed.

4. Sheep exhibitors may NOT use any product to alter or enhance the color of skin,

fleece, or hide. (Example: No Paint, Ink, Etc.)

5. The practice of “drenching” sheep is acceptable at the Creek County Livestock

Show.

6. There must be 3 or more Market Lambs of the same breed entered and eligible

on the day of the show to recognize that breed in the show. If less than 3, they

will show with Crossbred.

7. All Market Lambs will be officially weighed and classified for breed by the Sheep

Committee. Only the exhibitor and one lamb at a time will be allowed to go

before the classification committee. Their decision will be final.

8. All Market Lambs will be slick sheared.

9. The Sheep Committee will break the classes with as close to 5 or more in each

class as possible.

10. There will be 14 Market Lambs in the Premium Sale.

7. There must be 3 or more registered ewes of the same breed entered and eligible

on the day of the show to recognize that breed in the show. If less than 3

registered ewes, they will show with Commercial Class. All Non-Registered

Ewes will show in Commercial Class.

8. Breed classes will be broken by the Sheep Committee. Registered Ewes will

show by age. Ewe Lambs must have 8 temporary incisors, with no visible signs

of permanent teeth. Yearling Ewes must have 6 temporary incisors and one pair

of permanent incisors. Commercial Ewes will be shown by weight determined

Breeding Gilt Rules

Nomination Process:

* All Breeding Gilts must be owned by December 17, 2010.

* All Breeding Gilts will be tagged with Pseudo rabies and ear notches read by December 17, 2010 by Ag Ed Teacher or Extension Agent.

* A form listing the family name for all species, breed description, ear notch, and Pseudo rabies tag number must be turned into the OSU Extension Office

by December 17, 2010. All Breeding Gilts must be included in this form, or

will not be allowed to show.

1. All Breeding Gilts will be positively identified from the OKC nomination tag and/or

the Creek County Nomination Forms at the Creek County Livestock Show by the

Swine Committee when they are selected for Sale Order.

2. No more than 3 Breeding Gilts may be shown by any one exhibitor.

3. All registered Breeding Gilts must have registration papers with proper ear

notches listing the exhibitor as the sole owner (No Family, Ranch, or

Partnerships) at the check in during the Creek County Livestock Show. Must

show papers during weighing of each breeding gilt. Ear notches will be checked

with registration papers.

4. Swine exhibitors may NOT use any paint, oil, sheen, or any product for coat

dressing on day of show. WATER ONLY. Any Swine inspected by the Swine

Committee and found to have anything other than water for coat dressing will be

disqualified.

5. All swine may be clipped at the Creek County Livestock show; however, the

practice of “snaring” swine is expressly prohibited at the Creek County Livestock

Show.

6. There must be 3 or more registered Breeding Gilts of the same breed entered and

eligible on the day of the show to recognize that breed in the show. If less than

3 registered Breeding Gilts, they will show in the Crossbred class. All Non-

Registered Gilts will show Crossbred.

7. Commercial gilts will be officially weighed by the Swine Committee, each

exhibitor is responsible for a weight card filled out and papers (if applicable) for

their own animal. All Gilts will be weighed in case of a breed not making. No

reweighs on gilts.

5. The Swine Committee will classify market hogs during weigh in. All Market

Swine should meet classification guidelines for breed character as outlined in the

2011 OKC Spring Fair Rule Book. Prior approval from 2 members of the Species

Committee of any questionable animal is recommended. Any swine not making

their breed characteristics will be placed into the crossbred class.

6. To determine if there are enough swine to have a breed, the total number of

Market Hog entries will be divided by 42, and rounded to the nearest whole

number will equal the minimum number of head to make a breed. If less than

that number, they will show with Crossbred.

7. Market Hogs must weigh between 200 and 290 pounds during weigh in. One

reweigh will be allowed only on Market Hogs over 290 or less than 200 pounds.

The exhibitor will be given until 3:30 p.m. to reweigh. No Market Hogs weighing

less than 200 pounds or more than 290 pounds will be allowed to show. All

Swine will be officially weighed by the Swine Committee; each exhibitor is

responsible for a weight card properly filled out and bringing their animal to the

scales. Gilts that are over or under the weight limits will be allowed to show in

the Breeding Show. The animal’s actual weight will be what is used to break

classes. The animals will not be reweighed during the show. Market hogs will

be called and weighed by breed (same order as show day).

8. The Swine Committee will break the classes. There will be no fewer than 22

classes and no more than 30 classes of Market Hogs. If ther are 8 classes or

more in a breed then they will be split into 2 divisions.

9. There will be 42 Market Hogs in the Premium Sale. 42 divided by the total

number of head entered the day of show will determine the percent of each

breed eligible to make the sale. The judge will select the number of sale animals

per breed based on quality. NOTE: When there is more than one class per

breed, a first place pig is not guaranteed in the Premium Sale. Final Premium

Sale order will be determined by the Fair Board based on the number of animals

in each breed and final breed placing. If there aren’t enough entries in 2 or more

breeds to meet the minimum number required to make a breed, they will be

combined in an OPB class. If the total number of entries in the OPB class meets

the minimum number required to have a breed they will be allowed in the

Premium Sale.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

1. Youth who have been declared ineligible to participate in extra-curricular

activities by their local school administration will be declared ineligible to

participate in this show.

2. Youth who are eligible on the first day of the show will be considered eligible

through the duration of the show. Similarly, youth who are ineligible on the first

day of the show will be considered ineligible through the duration of the show.

3. If an exhibitor is ineligible to participate in the show for any reason, including rule

of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activity Association, the animals owned by

the exhibitor are also ineligible for the show.

4. Ineligible youth who participate in the show will forfeit all show, and/or sale

premiums and awards; and will be subject to disciplinary action as provided by

the local school policies.

5. It will be the responsibility of the local school administration to notify the show

management if a particular student is ineligible to participate.
