• purchase your first home, which will be your main residence;

• get married; or

• have or adopt a child.

We also understand the trauma that the death of a spouse causes and, in this event, the Life Events Benefit will provide some financial assistance.

13

What does CreditShield Edge cost?

CreditShield Edge costs just 49c per $100 of your outstanding balance on your monthly statement. This premium will be automatically billed to your Virgin credit card each month. You can see and check the charge on your statement each month.

How is my premium calculated?

Your monthly premium payable may be different each month, depending on your outstanding balance on your monthly statement.

In any month that you have a nil statement balance on your credit card, you pay nothing.

How to calculate your premium

David has a credit limit of $20,000 and his partner Lauren has a supplementary card. David and Lauren have chosen CreditShield Edge to protect the credit card repayments.

In month 1, David’s outstanding balance as it appears on his monthly statement is $2,800. The premium for that month is calculated as $2,800/100 x $0.49 = $13.72.

In month 2, the outstanding balance is $0. The premium for that month is $0.

What happens if my premium is not paid?

Your premium must be paid, when due, throughout the life of your policy. If your premium is not paid within 30 days of it being due, MetLife will cancel your policy.

Can my premium change?

We may amend your premium rates any time and, as a result, your premiums may increase or decrease. However, your premium can only change if we change the rates for all CreditShield Edge policies like yours, and you cannot be singled out for an increase. If we amend your premium rates, we will provide you with at least 30 days written notice.
