CREDIT ANALYST
Job Purpose: Performs and documents credit underwriting for new and existing commercial loans while
adhering to bank guidelines.
Department: Commercial Lending Reports to: Credit Department Manager
Salary Grade: _________ Exemption Status: Exempt
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Prepares financial statement spreads from tax returns and financial statements
Prepares annual reviews, credit approval forms and credit memos to document credit analysis of
existing and potential borrowers o Identifies and evaluates primary repayment sources under various scenarios
o Identifies and evaluates secondary repayment sources including collateral and guarantors
o Conducts industry and economic research and forecasts the effect of findings on individual borrowers
o Recommends loan structure
o Suggests risk rating
o Identifies loan policy and regulatory exceptions as they apply to individual loans
o Monitors loan relationships for financial covenant compliance Communicates directly with loan officers and borrowers to request additional information and to
resolve various issues
Produces monthly and quarterly reports to document loan portfolio performance and to fulfill
regulatory requirements
Performs duties of Appraisal Analyst as needed o Orders and reviews commercial and residential real estate appraisals
o Prepares real estate evaluations
o Performs occasional property inspections
Participates in special projects as directed
Performs additional job related duties as assigned or required
Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements: Thorough knowledge of lending and appraisal laws and regulations with ability to keep up to date on
regulation changes
Ability to research industry trends and banking regulation changes
Strong analytical, technical and statistical skills
Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to create reports to summarize analysis
Capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of lenders,
managers, directors and/or regulatory officials
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Strong integrity in all areas, adhering to policies, regulations and utmost ethical and legal standards
Uphold confidentiality and privacy of findings in all situations
Ability to work independently and manage workload priorities
Sound judgment, logical reasoning and strong drive for results and success
Remain flexible to withstand unpredictable changes to schedules and deadlines
Interact and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization
Physical/Mental Requirements: Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Sit at a desk and computer terminal for extended time periods
Move around within office to appropriately interact with all personnel

Working Conditions:
Duties are performed in an office environment in a professional business setting. Position requires
occasional travel to off-site properties. Work pace can be very fast during deadlines and peak periods of the
day, week or month.
Professional Relationships:
Interacts with lending-related personnel throughout the bank. Communicates and coordinates with other
members of the Credit Department.
Eligibility Requirements (Minimum Qualifications):
Achievement of a 4-year college degree (with preference for degrees in finance or accounting); or
equivalent combination of education and experience required. Two years of financial analysis experience in
a commercial banking environment (including analysis of ratios, trends and detailed cash flow) is preferred.
Accounting or financial certification is a plus.
