Creating “The Book”On a sheet of paper, determine what you think is the most significant for each chapter. This is done individually.

You will need five events because we have read the first five chapters.

What are we doing?1. As a group, you are going to recreate

To Kill a Mockingbird as a children’s book.

2. You are going to determine the most important events, a minimum of two events per chapter, to

tell the story. 3. You must stay true to the story and in the correct order of the story.

Step One1. As a group, you now need to discuss what events you want to use for each chapter. 2. Right now, you will have a total of ten events – two per chapter. 3. Make sure your events are important to the story and will help your reader understand what is taking place.

Step Two1. Now, with each event, your group needs to decide what illustration will go with the event. 2. Each event has to have an illustration.3. All illustrations must be colored and as detailed as possible. 4. Pick two members of the group to illustrate the story.

Step Three1. Your next step is deciding what you are going to write to describe the event. 2. This is “telling” the story. 3. For each illustration, your caption or story needs to be a minimum of five sentences long. 4. Make sure you spell all names correctly.5. Pick two people in your group to be the “writers” of the story.6. Make sure these two people have great penmanship.
