Dear Undergraduate Engineering Student: Registration for the fall semester (F'15) will officially begin on Thursday, April 16. You will be assigned a Registration Appointment in UDSIS. This is the date and time you may begin to register for classes based on class level and UD credit hours. This Registration Appointment will soon appear on your UDSIS Student Center page. You can also access the registration system via the Student Center page (Registration & Drop/Add). This is a 3-step process with immediate feedback on your enrollment in the classes you select. For more information about logging on to UDSIS, registering for the upcoming semester, and/or viewing the F'15 online registration booklet, please view the following website: http://www.udel.edu/registrar/onlinereg/. Additionally, you have been assigned a departmental advisor also found in UDSIS on the Student Center page. If you have a question regarding your advisor, please contact your department. In order to receive effective advisement and approval of your course selections, you must take the following steps: 1. Make an appointment to meet with your department advisor before the registration period as directed by your department. 2. Prepare for your advisement appointment by developing a “tentative” list of your next semester's courses. When selecting Breadth Requirement courses, remember to reference the Breadth Requirements information in the UD Catalog and/or department checklists. 3. Meet with your departmental faculty advisor to discuss any issues and to finalize your choice of courses before completing the UDSIS online registration. 4. If you are planning to change majors to a field not in the College of Engineering, I suggest you make an appointment with an advisor in that new department by calling the department phone number prior to registering for classes. GENERAL NOTES 1. MATH: Registration for courses in the mathematical sciences should typically occur through the normal registration process or in consultation with your major advisor. There is a very helpful MATH FAQ site you should check first for answers to your math registration questions at this site: http://www.mathsci.udel.edu/courses-and-placement/math-course-registration/Pages/frequently- asked-questions.aspx. In most cases, when a course you need is full, you will need to consult the math department directly using their course registration help form at this address: http://www.mathsci.udel.edu/courses-and-placement/math-course-registration/Pages/course- registration-help-form.aspx. They use the information on these inquiries to determine how to accommodate seat requests for their classes. Please note that the College of Engineering staff cannot override seat limits for courses in other departments. 2. COMMON EXAMS: Many lower level math, physics, chemistry and biology classes have Common Exam times set for 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on a weeknight or from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm on a Saturday. Try not to schedule another class or lab that overlaps these times. Some courses have attendance regulations that make missing class very difficult. If unsure about this, please contact your academic advisor. 3. COMPUTER SCIENCE (CISC): Please send an email to Dr. Chester, [email protected], to request placement onto a Waiting List. He establishes them for CISC classes and will review those lists closer to the start of the semester. You should be explicit about what course you want and which sections would fit your schedule.

    GENERAL NOTES

    1. MATH: Registration for courses in the mathematical sciences should typically occur through the normal registration process or in consultation with your major advisor. There is a very helpful MATH FAQ site you should check first for answers to your math registration questions at this site: http://www.mathsci.udel.edu/courses-and-placement/math-course-registration/Pages/frequently-asked-questions.aspx. In most cases, when a course you need is full, you will need to consult the math department directly using their course registration help form at this address: http://www.mathsci.udel.edu/courses-and-placement/math-course-registration/Pages/course-registration-help-form.aspx.

  • 4. REGISTRATION HELP: Frequently asked questions & how to use WebReg (a 3 minute tutorial on the basics of WebReg) is available at this site: http://www.udel.edu/registrar/course-info-registration/register-for-classes/reghelp.html

    5. COURSE SECTION NUMBERING (reference this when trying to determine which lecture/discussion/labs go together) information is available at this site: http://www.udel.edu/registrar/course-info-registration/register-for-classes/section-nbrs.html

    6. CHEM 103 and CHEM 104 are offered as stand-alone lecture/lab courses as well as with BISC 207 and BISC 208, respectively, as "Integrated Sections". Engineering majors do not usually take the Integrated Version of these classes, so please be aware of which sections are "Integrated" and which ones are not when you register.

    7. SPECIFIC CORE COURSES IN YOUR MAJOR: If you are unable to register for departmental "core" courses, email the appropriate department to request permission to enroll in the course or to be added to a waitlist. Again, College of Engineering staff cannot override seat limits for courses in other departments.

Best wishes for a successful Fall semester! Sincerely, F. Charles Shermeyer Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Advisement
