Design of SIFs and SIL Calculation

Design of Safety Instrumented Functions and verification of SIL and MTTFS based on practical examples of safety functions in the process industry. Comparison of different designs and generation of reports. Alternatives to modernize an existing SIS.

-Types of diagnostics and examples of application diagnostics in the three subsystems (PVST, analog signals, short-circuit, line monitoring, use of Hart, etc.)

-Safety PLC versus Standard PLC.

-Principles of design, most used architectures and examples (1oo2, 2oo2, 2oo3, 1oo3, 2oo4). Valve cases "Fail Close" and "Fail Open".

-The three SIL requirements of the Standards IEC 61508/61511. Examples.

-The 9 key parameters to calculate PFD and MTTFS. The 6 data sources of failure rates.
