The State Oil and Gas Board met in the Office of the Secretary of State at 11:00 o'clock, ). M., Monday, August 30, 1954.
PRESENT: Florence Bruno, Executive Secretary to Governor; Jack Donahue, Deputy State Treasurer; E. D. Barron, Assistant Attorney General; James 0, Gilkerson, Deputy State Auditor; H. R, Tommervik, Deputy Department of School & Public Lands; Geraldine Ostroot, Secretar': of State.
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Bruno.
Miss Ostroot presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Drill for Gas and Oil, dated August 24, 1954, filed by Amerada Petroleum Cor-poration of Williston, North Dakota, covering the S. D. State "A" No. 1, located on Section 1, Township 16 north) Range 1 east, Gustave Field, Harding County, South Dakota. The well is located 625 feet south of north line and 660 feet West from East line in C NE NE (Lot 1) Section 1 - 16N - 1E, Harding County South Dakota. Said well is covered by bond in the amount of $3,000.00 executed by the The Employers! Liability Assurance Corporation, Ltd. as Surety. It was moved by Mr. Barron that the application be approved and permit granted, which permit shall require Amerada Petroleum Corporation of Williston, North Dakota to furnish to Dr. E. P. Rothrock, State Geologist, a com-plete set of cuttings.
Seconded by Mr. Gilkerson.
All voted "aye" and motion carried.

The State Oil and Gas Board met in the Governor's Reception Room at 4:30 P.m., December 3, 1951i.
PRESENT: Sigurd Anderson, Governor; John Donahue, Deputy State Treasurer; Walter Mueller, Assistant Attorney General; H. R. Tommervik, Deputy Commissioner of School and Public Lands; James 0. Gilkerson„ Deputy State Auditor; Geraldine Ostroot, Secretary of State.
The meeting was called to order by Governor Anderson.
Miss Ostroot, Secretary of the Board presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Abandon the S. D. State "A" No. 1, located on Section 1, Township 16N, Range 1E, Gustave Field, Harding County, South Dakota, together with Well Plugging Affidavit of said well. After a short discussion it was moved by Mr. Tommervik and seconded by Mr. Mueller that the Well Plugging Affidavit and Notice of Intention to Abandon the S. D. State "A" Well No. 1, located 625' South of north line and 660' West from the east line in C - NE NE (Lot 1) Section 1 - 16N - 1E, Harding County, South Dakota, be approved and the liability under bond executed by The Employers' Liability Assurance Corp., Ltd. as Principal, in the amount of $3,000.00 conditioned upon compliance with the Laws and Rules and Regulations of the Oil and Gas Board con-cerning wells to be drilled in Harding County, South Dakota, be, and the same is hereby terminated and at an end from and after this date, and the bond of $30000.00 given in connection with the drilling of said well, be released,
All voted "aye" and motion carried.
Miss Ostroot, Secretary of the Board presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Abandon the Short Pine Hills Unit Well No. 1, located on Section 19, Township 16N, Range 2E, Gustave Field, Harding County, South Dakota, together with Well Plugging Affidavit of said well. After a short discussion it was moved by Mr. Mueller and seconded by Mr. Donahue that the Well Plugging Affidavit and Notice of Intention to Abandon the Short Pine Hills Unit Well No. 1, located 659.87' North and 660' West from Center of Section 19, Township 16N, Range 2E, Harding County, South Dakota, be approved and the liability under bond executed by the nployers' Lia-bility Assurance Corp., Ltd. as Principal, in the amount of $3,000.00 conditioned upon compliance with the Law and Rules and Regulations of the Oil and Gas Board concerning wells to be drilled in Harding County, South Dakota, be, and the same is hereby terminated and at an end from and after this date, and the bond of $3,000.00„ given in connection with the drilling of said well, be released.

Theproposed work is as follows: Drilled and cored to a total depth of 3994' , took drill stem tests and Ran Schlumberger Logs. No Shows of oil or gas. DRY HOLE. Propose to spot cement plugs to plug and abandon as follows: From 3922' to 3828' with 35 sacks of cement; From 3650' to 3556' with 35 sacks cement; From 675' to 581' with 40 sacks of cement and will spot cement plug in top of 9-5/8" Casing with Well location marker. Space between plugs will be filled with Rotary Mud.

This is in regard to your request for core chips from the above-captioned well.
We have in our sample storage ten small core chips that were taken from the 3664 to 3749 foot interval. These chips are quite small and we are reluctant to further reduce their size.
In view of this we are not sending the chips we do have because the possibility exists that your samples are more complete than ours. However, if this is not the case, please notify us to this effect.

OIL TEST IN S.D. APPROVED
Pierre, Sept. 1 UP)--State Oil and Gas Board yesterday granted the Amerada Petroleum Corp., Williston, N.D., authority to drill a test well in Harding County.
Site of the test will be center of NE NE E-16N-1E, about 13 miles south and Pi: ea-t of Camp Crook in the Gustave field. The test will be designed "S.D. State `A' No. 1."
The driller is H. H. Stanley, Belle Fourche.
