Business Process Description OverviewCreation of a Cost Center : Cost Center is a cost collecting object. If you want to collect a particular type of costs which will cover many Cost Elements, and identifiable and want to analyse the expense at that level, you can create a Cost Center in that name.

Unique code to identify the Cost center.Date from which you want to create this cost center.Date to which you want to keep this cost center valid. Output – Results CommentsYou will get the message- Cost center with “Code” created.

Please read the name of the message. If your entry is incomplete, that will be shown as “message.”

Tips and Tricks:

Cost center code should be unique throughout the Controlling area.Business area should be attached to each Cost center.

1.1 Access transaction by :

1.2 On the “Create Cost center : Initial Screen “, enter information in the fields as specified in the below table :

Enter the Cost center code. Enter the date from which you want to create Cost center.Enter the date upto which you want to Cost center to be valid.If this cost center is similar to one that already exists,then you can give the name of that cost center so that entries in all fields of that cost center will be copied. In the next screen, you can change any fields by overwriting . Enter the Controlling area of the sample Cost Center. Enter “PIL” if the sample cost center belongs to XYZ Limited or “GTN” if the sample cost center belongs to GTN Textiles Ltd.

1.3 Press Enter , F5 or Basic Screen to advance to the next screen.

1.4. On the “Create Cost center : Basic Screen “, enter information in the fields as specified in the below table :

Business Process Description OverviewChanging a Cost Center : If you want to change a particular field in a cost center , it can be done by using this function. You can change only the following fields.

Name of the Cost center.Description of the Cost center.Name of person in charge of the cost center.Last level of Standard Hierarchy to which you want to attach this cost center.

Output – Results CommentsYou will get the message- Cost center has been changed.

Please read the name of the message. If your entry is incomplete, that will be shown as “message.”

Tips and Tricks:

You cannot delete a cost center once data gets recorded even after reposting all costs and making it empty.This is because reposting will be appearing as a credit entry only.
