I borrow this term from a well-known biography of our times, as nothing better illustrates TCS's journey of the past three decades.

This brief profile I hope, will give you an idea of the human endeavour in delivering millions of shipments come rain or shine, to your doorsteps - at home or at work.

That each delivery has a business or personal significance for you, has earned us great trust and an enduring bond with the people of Pakistan.

Indeed an entire generation - now in its prime, has grown with the daily sight of TCS couriers and the sound of our cheerful jingles embedded in their memory.

In us, the daily sweat has created a special bond of love and affection for our customers through good and bad times.

It is this bond that gives TCS a special place in the hearts of our customers and constitutes our most valuable asset, while living up to their expectations constitutes our greatest opportunity and challenge.

As socio-economic changes driven by modern technology and enhanced connectivity reshape our lives, TCS is well poised to develop into a world class organization of the future. This publication showcases our many services - business or personal through which TCS is endeavouring to become a meaningful part of your work and life.

It's my belief that never before in human history has there been a better time - to collectively grow and improve our world.

And since in our customers’ growth lies our own success, I wish you God speed in your endeavours.

TCS Holdings Board

Khalid Awan was born in Dera-Ismail-Khan and is a Mechanical Engineer by education, a profession in which he started his career.

He entered business in 1982 when his older brother established a Joint

Venture in Pakistan with the global Air-Express giant DHL, under the name DHL Pakistan Private Ltd.

The brothers then founded TCS Private Ltd. as the domestic arm complementing the International business. The first decade saw phenomenal growth in the jointly owned and managed business.

The future potential in each business – domestic and international, necessitated long term structuring. The brothers astutely addressed this in 1991 by ‘de-linking’ the organization and ownership of the two companies, enabling each to pursue its own trajectory.

It was thus in 1991 that Khalid Awan, who had served as Managing Director since inception of both TCS and DHL Pakistan under the Chairmanship of Sadiq Awan, took over as the Chairman and M.D. of TCS Private Limited.

The challenges and implications of this decision are the subject of a Harvard Business School Case Study undertaken in 2002. Between then and 2007 when Sadiq Awan disinvested his share-holding in DHL Pakistan, TCS and DHL maintained a collaborative non-competitive relationship.

Khalid Awan not only piloted the evolution of TCS in Pakistan but also went on to establish TCS in UK (1989), UAE (1996), and Canada (1999).

On the thirtieth anniversary of its founding in 2013, Khalid Awan out-lined for TCS its course for the next thirty years by installing a futuristic young leadership, guided by a mission statement and core-values in a world class corporate environment overseen by a competent Board.

Mr Awan is an active philanthropist who generously gives time to organizations in the field of health, education, and social welfare.

He is a lifetime member of 'World Presidents Organization' - WPO, and has served as Chairman of

We believe that the tagline “WE MOVE YOU” encapsulatesthe true essence of TCS.

In saying “WE MOVE YOU”, we offer a simple yet powerful proposition, one that summarizes the outcome of TCS services, everything that we aim to achieve and provide. It is not just a statement, but a promise. It’s essentially a philosophy that remains at the core of our shared vision of

‘Delivering Beyond Customer Expectations’

At TCS, we understand that each shipment sent by our customer matters highly to them. We understand that it is so much more than merely a physical item being shipped from one place to another. Each shipment of our customer is a conveyance of someone’s love, hope, joy, ambition and dreams amongst all the other emotions. Every little shipment matters to us, regardless of its size or scope, and we fully comprehend the sentiment behind it. We cherish the fact that when a mother is sending a package to her child, it is not just condiments contained within the packages, but the pure essence of her love and care for them. We make the commitment to deliver the package with all the favor that the mother spends in packing it up carefully. And this is

what we try to communicate with this line.

We don’t just move letters… We don’t just move shipments….. We don’t just move

parcels…WE MOVE YOU.

New JourneyAfter celebrating more than 30 years of success, TCS has embarked on a new journey with an aim to reach ever greater heights of prosperity and success. The President & CEO, M.A. Mannan, shared

the company’s vision in his inaugural speech dated 11th August,

2014, the excerpt of which is shared below:

First and foremost…. Our Customers:We will live our customers. They will be the focus of everything we do. They will be the starting point and

ending point of everything we do. We will make things simple

for them. We will help them. We will add value to their lives.

Which brings me to the question, how will we do

this for our customers? We will do that by innovation:We will innovate. We will innovate new things and old things. We will innovate big things and small things. We will innovate a new E-commerce platform but at the same time we will also innovate a small process in the mail room. We will innovate together and… we will do it every day.

This brings me to the most important theme of all… you. The TCS family:You are and you will be the most important asset of this company. We will

make this place where you live your dreams. Where you grow as the company grows. Where you feel pride in what you do and take ownership of the future.

So how will we operate? We will operate with a sense of urgency:We will create a shared vision together. But as you know…..We have an unparalleled opportunity in front of us. We have to move quickly. Not just because of the competition, the shareholders, the external factors and the money we can make…… these are realities and good enough reasons to make us move faster. But I hope we move with a sense of urgency because we want to be the pioneers of this platform which will change the life of our customers and most important of all… because it will change your life and mine.

Let me conclude by a quote which has always inspired me:

Somebody once said… nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come. We have the idea. We are the team….We have the foundation… We have the resources.

We are TCS….it is our time and Insha’Allah we will make it happen.

(President & Chief Executive Officer)M.A. Mannan

Pakistan boasts of burgeoning consumerism with a highly active demand flow and target market. The country is experiencing a consistent growth in GDP of over 5% per annum, and low inflation environment.

Geography & LocationPakistan is strategically located at the crossroads of Asia, with China (523 km border) as its neighbor in the North, India (2,912 km border) in the East and Iran (909 km border) and Afghanistan (2,430 km border) in the West. Pakistan covers 796,095 sq. km and constitutes five provinces: Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Economic GrowthPakistan’s economic growth is expected to increase gradually, and the economy is projected to grow by 5% in FY2017 and 5.4% in FY2018. Growth in gross fixed investment, which expanded by 12.04% in 2014/15, is expected to normalize in 2016/17 as the GOP reduces its borrowing from commercial banks, thereby freeing up credit for the private sector, and as lower energy bills leave corporations with more money to invest.

InflationAnnual consumer price inflation (CPI) is expected to accelerate to 4.66% on average in 2017, from 4.00% in 2016, owing to the slump in global energy prices. Inflation will accelerate again in 2017-20, to an average of 3-4%, in response to rebounding oil prices, reductions in subsidies on food & electricity tariffs, and a possible weakening of the Pakistani rupee.

Exchange RatesThe Pakistani rupee depreciated against the US dollar to an average of PKR104.5:USD 1 in 2016, from PKR101.1:USD1 in 2015, owing to increased FX inflows stemming in part from disbursements under the IMF loan. Continued disbursements by IMF (ending in 2016) and a continuous YoY rise in workers’ remittances will help support the PKR over the next 3 years.

External SectorStrong remittance growth caused the current-account deficit to narrow to an estimated 1.3% of GDP last year. Continuous growth in remittances and financial flows for CPEC projects will help in financing the current account deficit.

Monetary Policy Interest RatesAt its monetary policy meeting in September 2016, the State Bank of Pakistan (the central bank) kept its main policy interest rate at 5.75%. The SBP cited a better outlook for consumer price inflation amid the downward trend in global energy prices and an improvement in local food supplies. The bank was also aiming to stimulate private-sector credit growth, which had slowed in the second-half of 2014.

InfrastructureA new rail link has been established from Islamabad to Istanbul, via the Iranian cities of Zahedan, Kerman and Tehran. It is expected to promote tourism and trade, especially for exports destined for Europe.

• Number of Airports with paved runways over 3,050 meters: 15• Railways broad gauge: 7,500 km (300 km electrified)• Paved Roadways: 190,000 km (includes 750 km of expressways)• Pipelines: Gas (13,000 km), Oil (2,600 km), Refined Products (1,100 km)• Sea Ports: Karachi Port, Port Qasim, Gwadar

Pakistan is brimming with investment opportunities and has a world-class telecommunications and IT infrastructure. It has an excellent road and communications network in the region and with the construction of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, access to the Gwadar Port would be further facilited. It also has one of the most developed and regulated banking sectors in the world with high performance stock markets.

The Pakistani stock market is trading at a hefty discount to comparable regional markets due to the general security situation as well as political uncertainty. However, the Pakistani Armed Forces are tackling the security situation head-on and the overall situation is expected to get better through the successful operation Zarb-e-Azb. As far as political uncertainty is concerned, a democratic set-up has been in

place since the year 2008 and a smooth transition also took place in 2013. Therefore, the Pakistani stock market is expected to be re-rated within the next 1-2 years and the discount differential will reduce substantially, meaning that this is the right time for medium to long term investors to take a view on Pakistan.

Why do business in Pakistan?Pakistan boasts of burgeoning consumerism with a highly active demand flow and target market. The country is experiencing a consistent growth in GDP of over 5% per annum, and low inflation environment.

Having embarked on an economic reform program in 2013, Pakistan has restored macroeconomic stability, improved its credit rating, and boosted growth.

One of the highest consumer confidence countries in the world, Pakistan is expected to become the world’s 16th biggest economy by 2050, forecast PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in its report in Feb, 2017 (Ref. PwC Report).

The South Asian country’s economy’s GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP) currently ranked 24, would score 20th rank replacing Thailand by 2030 and till 2050 the country’s economy would make its way to 16th position, replacing the current Spain, PwC’s data showed.

“By 2050, Pakistan and Egypt could overtake Italy and Canada on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) basis,” the London-based consultancy firm said in the report, titled, “The long view: how will the global economic order change by 2050.” http://www.pwc.com/world2050. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates Pakistan’s economy to grow more than three times within the next three decades. Pakistan’s GDP on PPP-basis is projected to be $1.868 trillion in 2030 and $4.236 trillion in 2050. The tax consultancy forecast a whopping nine times jump in the country’s GDP at market exchange rates (MER) within three decades. The consultancy logged the country’s GDP at MER of $284 billion in 2016 and projected this at $776 billion in 2030 and $2.831 trillion in 2050.

Present Scenario:Longer Distance - Higher Costs

Future Scenario:Shorter Distance - Lower Costs

Few examples of Distance saved1. Europe – Western China (9,535 miles)2. Middle East – Western China (10,242 miles)

Why is this happening? One of the reasons of this increase is the growing middle class status, rapid urbanization and increased level of women education and women presence at workplace. Pakistani consumers are ready to spend money according to Trading Economics Global Macro models and analyst expectations. What to do about it?The changing nature of Pakistan’s consumer market has attracted multiple multinational corporations to open up business channels in Pakistan boosting the investment status of Pakistan’s economy. Now is the right time for businesses worldwide to take proactive measures and engage the Pakistani market and consumers. With a burgeoning demand for products, the market is open to new investments and entries by external parties.

“Pakistan’s economy has been growing for a number of years and its growing middle class, which will expand from an estimated 40 million people today to 100 million people by 2050, represents a powerful engine for change, demanding both improved services and greater access to opportunities.”

What’s changing the Game? The single largest investment in Pakistan is the US $62bn China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) A major belt and road initiative, CPEC is the game changer for logistics in the region. Considered to be central to the development of the Pak-China co-operative partnership it is focused on four key areas including Gawadar Port, energy, transportation and infrastructure, and industrial co-operation. Focusing on efficient and fast transportation CPEC shall essentially follow the North-South corridor. Currently the major road project has been inaugurated and is under construction. At the same time, railway up gradation feasibility has been completed. The second major component of this project is the development and inauguration of the Gwadar deep sea port which has also been completed. Slated to become the gateway port for Pakistan and the region and a world class maritime hub, Gwadar Port is to compliment Karachi Port and Port Qasim in order to stimulate economic growth of Pakistan.

LOGISTICS IN PAKISTANThe robust trade, economic growth, and liberalization policies followed by many industries have resulted in increased trade volumes. The ensuing increase in transportation, handling and warehousing needs has led to a demand for integrated logistics solutions in the region. Increased globalization in manufacturing and other technological advancements has made companies focus more on core activities, and thus logistics activities have been outsourced as a cost-effective solution.

A good logistics company integrates all the supply chain functions ranging from raw material sourcing and manufacturing to the distribution of finished goods. The company has to control costs of transportation and inventory while working out strategies to serve customers optimally within set time periods and budgets.

All this makes supply chain management complex, and therefore companies need real-time visibility to gain optimal insights into the flow of goods from suppliers and even suppliers' suppliers. Different companies need different solutions designed according to the product, volumes involved, location, and so on.

Keeping in view the diverse nature of the logistics sector in Pakistan, there is a need to have a one-window solution for all your logistics management needs, from import to storage, from transport to distribution, from custom clearance to back-end supply chain solutions, you need the best – and in Pakistan you can’t do better than TCS.

WHY TCS?Pakistan’s most recognizable and preferred courier, logistics and e-commerce provider; TCS provides services to the corporate sector, SMEs and household customers. TCS Holdings ensures it stays on top of the ever-changing consumer trends, as no other industry changes as rapidly and with as much effect as the E-commerce industry. The market of E-commerce in Pakistan is at an extremely exciting stage given that it is still exploring and finding its own feet. The outlook for local entrepreneurs as well as venture capitalists remains strong in the medium to long term, which has helped many businesses, small and large, to operate successfully and to build a customer base that would have been otherwise impossible to reach. Being one of the largest countries in the world in terms of its population size, Pakistan has an Internet base that is constantly expanding, currently resting on 31 million users. It is forecasted that the next 500 million internet users will come from India, Pakistan and other neighboring countries, which makes the E-commerce scenario ever the more exciting. It is expected that by the year 2019, there will be

110 million 3G and 4G users, which will translate to a rapidly expanding E-com market. Besides this, mobile subscription in Pakistan is currently approximated to be 140 million, which is one of the highest telecom densities in the world. The current Internet penetration rate is 16%, which is higher than India. This number is surely going to rise in the next 3 years, what with the advent of the digital revolution. Mobile penetration in Pakistan is at 74%, which is slightly higher than that of India that rests at 72%. Smartphone penetration is also higher than India, which opens up an opportunity for E-commerce to take its hold. Hence, in Pakistan, E-commerce is a revolution waiting to happen and TCS aims to capitalize on this $410 million market. The current E-commerce sales are estimated to be at $30 million with 7% conversion. E-commerce remains a global phenomenon with 80% of the online population choosing to shop online instead of visiting outlets.

With the enormous potential of E-commerce in Pakistan, TCS E-COM (Pvt.) Limited, a separate entity of TCS Holdings (Pvt.) Limited, plays an important role in this key focus area for the company. TCS, with a solid and reliable system of logistics services in Pakistan and globally, automatically presents itself as the strongest market player for the E-commerce industry in the subcontinent.

Interestingly enough, while other E-commerce businesses are struggling with the last mile to the finish line, mainly a reliable system of logistics, TCS has that entire area of business covered and literally owns the logistics aspect of E-commerce in Pakistan with its own online shopping sites as well as in supporting the entire ecosystem of the E-commerce industry in Pakistan.

Currently, TCS E-com has Yayvo.com (www.yayvo.com) and Sentiments Express (www.sentimentsexpress.com) as the main business lines, offering unique customer experiences for online shoppers, as well as walk-in customers at TCS Express Centres nationwide.

The E-com team has a distinct and fun work culture; bringing together a team of dedicated and passionate professionals who live by “We love what we do, and we don’t consider it work”. The E-com leadership team is a group of people from diverse backgrounds and previous stints in the fields of digital and online marketing, IT, customer services, vendor management, operations, B2C and B2B management.

The UAE has grown to become a global crossroads for tourism, travel and trade. Being a hub for ocean, air and road freight second to none in the region, it offers compelling benefits for importers and exporters, along with significant warehousing businesses that service the thousands of multi-national companies settled there.

The UAE population is also very diverse; it is a hugely multicultural country, with a workforce from all over the world, employing nationals from over 150 countries. The biggest element that TCS focuses on in terms of logistics is the estimated 1.2 million Pakistanis that the UAE hosts. It caters to this population in the same way as if they were still living at home, from the heart.

TCS began operations in the UAE in 1996 and has become one of the leading logistics services providers for Non Resident Pakistanis. Today we offer a range of domestic, international, freight and E-commerce services, not only to our diaspora, but to the wider business community across the seven Emirates.

2012 also marked key milestones for TCS in the UAE when we signed an exclusive agreement with the Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan for delivery of MRP and NICOP, successfully extending our support to our nationals across the country, in the tallest towers, to the remotest villages.

Today TCS UAE handles more than 1 million shipments annually and has a strong presence with over 125 employees, a fleet of 58 vehicles and outlets in all the major cities of the country, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The vision for our UAE business after serving Pakistan for more than 30 years is that we also want to be the number one choice for Pakistanis living abroad,

specifically in the UAE. Hence, it aims at offering complete end-to-end solutions with quality services to both consumer and corporate segments. Customer services have been made available 24/7 to cater to the high service level demands in the nation.

The latest technology hand-held devices have been made part of our UAE operations to ensure real-time visibility of our couriers, for the benefit of our customers. The breakthrough product, TCS Hazir, has also been launched to offer 60 minutes pickup and delivery. We offer the ease and convenience of getting shipments delivered or picked up from home, which is especially important for our UAE customers, where convenience and speed of service are expected attributes of any major service provider.

Our key focus in the competitive UAE arena is to deliver best in class service across the UAE - Pakistan corridor to support our international population.

In today’s rapidly changing connected world we further extended the reach of our special E-commerce offerings; Sentiments Express and Yayvo for the customers based in the UAE. This now means that home or abroad a special event can always be celebrated as if you were there in person and Pakistani gifts, handicrafts and mementoes from home are readily available at the click of a mouse.

“After serving Pakistan for more than 33 years, TCS aims to become the number one choice in courier and logistics specifically for our Pakistani customers in the UAE.”
