INTRODUCTION
PRIMARY MATERIALS
1
THE VITAL MATERIALS FOR ACHIEVING QATAR’S CONSTRUCTION NEEDS
LIMESTONE
Limestone Aggregate also uses for the concrete and asphalt and has chemical and physical properties that delivers exceptional performance and value in a broad range of applications. QPMC sells limestone also from its inventories at different location in Qatar.
GABBRO
Gabbro is an important building material, used in both internal and external construction and is often known as ‘black granite’. QPMC sells gabbro from it’s inventories at different areas in Qatar to contractors and primary materials users from the private and public sectors.

3 4DUNE SAND
The size, uniformity, chemical purity and nature of dune sand make it an important resource for construction use. The provision of dune sand in Qatar is regulated by QPMC.
QPMC is responsible for the excavation of high quality dune sand in assigned areas in Qatar.
WASHED SAND
QPMC’s quality washed sand is an important base material for construction and meets all Qatari and international quality standards. The company’s Sahara Washed Plant is the world’s largest of its type. Using advanced technology, the moisture content of the washed sand is reduced and water recovery is maximised. Over 90% of the water used by the plant is cleaned and recycled through the system, which massively reduces the requirement for fresh water.
The plant produces 1200 tons per hour, equivalentto 6 million tons per year.

OUR DIVISIONS
WARE-HOUSING
The Division was established in 2009 and since then has doubled in size each year. The Division’s aim is to provide sophisticated solutions for moving large quantities of primary materials and to safeguarding against fluctuations in pricing or supply.
QPMC provides professional and comprehensive logistics and transportation services, which include bulk transport, handling and storage. Our integrated supply chain management offers fixed rates to targeted strategic projects in Qatar and buffers them against raw material volatility caused by increased demand or product unavailability.
The Division has over 300 staff who provide a comprehensive supply chain from source to final delivery at the project site.
06
This Division was established in 2007 and our fully experienced management team and highly trained and licensed operators have made a significant improvement to the rate of discharge for bulk cargoes since then.QPMC provides an efficient service at the gabbro berths and has developed them to increase their capacity to manage the large volumes of primary materials being imported into Qatar.
In December 2016, QPMC’s Bulk Materials Handling Service (BMHS) went into operation. The conveyor belts stretch over 4.8 km, from the gabbro berths at Mesaieed Port to the storage areas. It is considered one of the longest belts in the world.
Travel time from the jetty to the designated storage location is 25 minutes and increases the speed and handling capacity of the unloading operation. Its introduction increased the handling capacity of Berths 2 and 3 from 16.5 million tons to 30 million tons per annum, and increased the overall capacity of the port to 37 million tons per annum.
This is a world-class solution that helps reduce harmful emissions by 78% and has resulted in improved worker productivity and reduced workplace injuries. It has established a new national benchmark in the reduction of dust and is an example of best practice which can be replicated by other big projects in Qatar.
