GUIDELINES

The Cornell Council for the Arts (CCA) stimulates

artistic production and discourse through the

support of individual faculty members, departments,

programs, and academic units at Cornell through

this grant category. The CCA welcomes proposals

requesting grants for artists and arts-related

projects to be presented on campus or in the Ithaca

area. Grants are intended to support cultural

activities outside of the regular academic responsi-

bility of individual departments or units.

Applications will be reviewed on the basis of the following criteria:

Artistic Excellence:•Quality of the artistic work and project concept

•Artistic significance of the project

Artistic Merit:•Potential impact on the academic, artistic and

cultural community

•Potential for the project to achive artist’s intended

outcome/s

•Ability to carry out the project including the

appropriateness of the budget, the quality and

clarity of the project goals and design, the

resources required and the qualifications of the

project’s organizers

CONDITIONS

Applicants are required to secure non-CCA financial

support. The CCA may require matching funds from

the initiating sponsor of the event. Travel expenses

are supported only for visiting artists. Reception, food

and beverage costs are not funded. As a requirement

for receiving CCA funds, the project organizer must

submit a brief report accompanied by visual documen-

tation of the project to the CCA Office within 4 weeks of

presentation.

Faculty receiving grants for individual projects may

have funds deposited into research accounts or submit

receipts in the amount of their grant for reimburse-

ment of expense related to their project.

All publicity for CCA-sponsored events must give credit

for CCA sponsorship with the following statement

“Sponsored in part by a grant from the Cornell Council

for the Arts.” An announcement of the event with one

high resolution JPEG image or Quicktime clip of

performance (no larger than 20 mb) must be sent to

the CCA office at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

Announcements are to be sent via email to
