Hello, How are you doing?Today, we are going to start a new lesson on

Areas.


AreaArea is defined as the number of square

units needed to cover a region or figure.


Rules to find the area of Regular figure Find the area of the square tiles. The figure indicates 1 square

unit for each square tile. Count the total number of

square units. There are 4 tiles. So, the area

of the figure is 4 square units.


To find the area of the irregular figure.Step 1: Separate the irregular figure into 2

rectangles. Count the number of square tiles in the larger rectangle.

Step 2: Count the number of tiles in the smaller rectangle.

Step 3: Add the number of squares in each rectangle to find the area of irregular figure.


Find the area of the figure given below.Answer- Area of bigger rectangle

= 8 square unitsArea of smaller rectangle = 2 square unitsArea of the figure

= 8 + 2 = 10 square units

Each square indicates 1 unit.


If a square has an area of 16 square units, how many rows and columns of squares does it have?

Answer- 4 rows and 4 columns


What is the area of the rectangle having 4 rows and 9 columns?Answer – 36 square units
