Hi, and thanks for downloading my FREE report “10 Welding

Projects That Sell Like Hotcakes”.

My name is Garrett Strong, owner of weldguru.com and

makemoneywelding.com.

I’ve been helping beginners learn how to get started MIG

welding through my course 90 Minute MIG Mastery for over 5

years now.

If you’re thinking about starting a welding side business, there

are a ton of projects out there that you can make and “try” to sell.

However, that doesn’t mean people will want to buy them. That’s why I wrote this report.

So you can avoid wasting time and money trying to sell products that you’ll have a very

hard time selling.

While you read every word of this report you’re going to discover 10 welding projects

that have been proven to sell again and again, and that you can make a nice second

income with.

But before we jump into those, you need to know the business strategy, or what it’s

going to take to actually sell your fabricated projects.

Let’s first talk about finding a niche, and why it’s make or break for your business.

You want to avoid building projects that nobody wants, right? It’s a waste of your

resources. So step 1 is to identify a buying niche, and give people in that niche what

they want.

For example, antique and craft events can be a very lucrative place to sell your projects.

But if you’re going to sell your projects there, don’t bring the trailer you built and try to

sell it. It’s the wrong audience.

Something like yard art projects, figurines, or even targeting a broad area of interest like

sports teams. I know that where I’m from in Austin, TX when you go to an event like this

you’re most likely going to see art, clothing, picture frames, and more with Texas

Longhorns, Texas Aggies, and Baylor Bears painted on them.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

This is niching down. It has the effect of making your products custom tailored to your

audience. While we’re on the subject of antique and craft shows, let’s talk about the

audience for a second.

The people attending these events typically have some kind of buying intent. Most of

the time they’re not just browsers. They get excited about all the cool stuff on display

which raises the levels of dopamine in their brain.

This in turn often turns into a shopping spree type behavior (especially for women).

I’ve added a special section to the end of this report that shows you how to lay out your

upsell funnel (a fancy way of saying “here’s how you can easily sell more items to that

person, now).

Creating items that people have an attachment to can produce great sales, like the

sports thing I was talking about. You could also do Nascar, Pro Football, Baseball,

Fishing, Hunting, etc.

If there’s one thing to keep in mind here, it’s that your items should be unmistakably

unique to YOU. Don’t create some ornamental piece and put a $75 price tag on it if they

can go down to Hobby Lobby and by it for $15.

When someone looks at your stuff the response you’re after is “I gotta have that now.”

Then they turn to their husband… “It’s clearly a one off coffee table, and the guy said

once it sells he doesn’t have anymore available”.

Make your products unique. Remember, you’re competing against cheap labor in China

and Korea. But don’t forget this…

“People are willing to pay premium prices for exclusive, one of a kind handmade

items.”

With that said, here’s a list of places you can sell your welded items at.

● Craft Shows

● Antique Shows

● Flea Markets

● Ebay.com

● Amazon.com

● Craigslist.com

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

● Your own website

● Etsy.com

I can’t stress this enough, so I’m going to say it again. Make damn sure your projects

are “one off projects” that you can’t get anywhere else. You might think you’re going to

build a handmade fireplace rack that sells big, and say that it’s “Made In U.S.A”, but if

that’s the only selling benefit you have it’s likely not going to sell.

Why? There’s nothing unique about it.

However, if you made a coffee table like the one below, your chances of getting that “I

need that now” response goes way up. Especially if you put a note on it that says “last

one available”.

If you want to amaze people, give them something they can use as an in-home decor

item.

People are always searching for ways to make their homes more appealing, and if

there’s a talking piece that would blow their guests away, many people go gaga over it.

I would like to have seen this welded table in the form of a coffee table. I just think

something like this would be great in the living room in front of a couch, or maybe for a

man room. With a sheet of glass on top I think it would be the perfect talking piece.

Remember, it has SHOCK value.

Just look at how simple of an idea it is, but also how unique it is.

You’ll never see another one like it in your lifetime, and I’ll bet you could slap a $300

price tag on it with no problem. Of course, you’ll want to test out selling these items in

different markets.

I wouldn’t just slap up a booth on the side of a road somewhere with a sign that says

“metal art. Although you could attract a lot of visitors that way.

Welding Project #2: Metal Cactus

I was recently eating lunch at a local

Mexican Restaurant and I noticed something

that shocked me, and I couldn’t take my eyes

off of it (that’s the effect you want). It was a

metal prickly pear cactus that stood all the

way from the floor to the ceiling. I didn’t get a

picture of it, but I found a smaller and

somewhat similar version of one online.

It was pushed over into the corner of the

restaurant. My first thought was “holy crap”

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

that’s cool. My second thought was “how long did that take?’

I imagined that for someone who is making these and selling them to restaurants, or at

trade shows, they’ve probably got a system down to make one quickly. More quickly

than someone doing it for the first time anyways.

If you’ve been welding or working with metal for any time at all, then you know that you

can’t help but check out the welds on railings, bumpers, etc. It’s just out of habit and out

of respect for a great weld. But this cactus… this thing had SHOCK appeal.

I can only imagine the price tag he put on that thing. $7,000… $10,000… or more. You

definitely don’t build one of those to have a bidding war with someone. It’s so unique

and one of a kind that someone is going to pay you the asking price. Sure, you’ll get

some low ball offers on something like that, but with one off projects, you make the

rules. Not the buyer.

Same with this one. It’s just a different variation on a cactus, but it’s incredible. Better

put this one where no kids can fall on it.

The difference between long term vs short term thinking:

Thing about this.

Most people have the mindset that they need to pump out as many projects as possible

to turn a profit, but much of that work could end up not making you much money at all.

What if you could spend weeks, even months making a project like that cactus? You

can’t really estimate the value of something like that because for the right customer,

they might be will to pay big bucks to have that in their home, restaurant, business, etc.

Rather than competing with China and Korea, putting out junk as fast as you can make

it, why not change your mindset to one where you make 1 project a month, but it’s got

that extreme unique factor?

Just food for thought.

Welding Project #3: Nuts n Bolts Artwork

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

I can’t help but admire the creative

minds who come up with some of

these welding projects. Literally, they

see an old pipe wrench, some chain,

and a few bolts and a dinosaur

appears in their mind. “How in the

hell did you come up with that?”, I

say to myself.

But again, it’s a one off idea that

people can’t really negotiate with on

price.

People have grown sick of mass

produced junk, so if your business

can revolve around selling things that

nobody else in the world has, it makes the value of it EXPLODE in the buyers mind.

You can go to a junk yard and find a wheel barrow of stuff you can use, and walk away

without paying much at all.

Then put your unique touch on it, do some heating and beating, a few welds, and you

have something incredible. The important thing is to make whatever piece you’re

building into a “SHOCK value” piece. Something out of the ordinary.

I can’t imagine this dinosaur project taking longer than 4 or 5 hours, but it’s the

imagination behind it that makes it valuable. I’ll bet they slapped a $150 price tag on

that.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

Here are just a couple more examples of

how junk yard garbage can be your gold.

Remember, if you go to a hobby store to

buy something like this dog, the

expectation is that you wouldn’t pay

more than $30 for it because there’s

nothing unique about it. It’s mass

produced, and your neighbor probably

has the same one sitting right in their

living room.

However, when someone sees an individual selling something like this they have a

mind shift. Immediately they expect to pay more for it because it’s a one off project.

There are so many different ways to make money welding from home it’s mind boggling.

Just go to Google and do a search for metal art. There aren’t enough hours in the day to

go through everything you’ll uncover.

Welding Project #4: Unique

Propane Cooker

This next make money welding project is for

those of you who like to cook on a propane

grill, or sell them.

BBQ’s and propane cookers will always be

popular items.

What’s cool about this project is that all you

need is an old car rim, and some pipe or

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

square tubing to hold it up (Wok sold separately).

It might not look like something that would be a big money maker, but when you

consider you can probably get a load of old car rims for pennies on the dollar, build it in

4 hours, and put a $70 price tag on it that’s not bad.

You could even make the Wok out of pipe ends, and sell the whole package for $125 or

something.

There’s just no end to what you can do. I mentioned earlier that if you want to make

money welding projects then you should make them unique, but I also think they should

be something that appeals to a large audience.

Again, either SHOCK value or something you can do that appeals to a lot of people, like

the sports idea I was talking about.

This next item I think could be one of the biggest money makers of all (note: I’ve never

sold the figurines below, so I’m going off a hunch).

This one takes very few materials, but the payoff could be huge.

I’m talking about making human figurines.

Welding Project #5:

Welded Human Figurines

The reason I think these are so great is

because they just have an immediate

appeal. It’s the human element that adds

everything. This first one passes both tests.

It’s both unique and has a mass appeal.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

Who doesn’t own a set of salt and pepper shakers?

I’ve actually made a simple version of one of these figurines out of a coat hanger, a nut,

and a washer. It was a man walking a tight wire. I had it on my mantle at home, and it

was definitely a talking piece.

I’ll bet something like this would fetch $30 or so, and

would only take you a couple hours to make.

This next one is a bit more challenging, but it’s very

cool.

How cool is that?

It looks like he went digging through his scrap junk

drawer, pulled out some items, and just went from

there.

Welding Project #6: Horseshoe

Welding Projects

One of the biggest sellers for welding

projects are the horseshoe projects. They

have mass appeal, and you don’t have to

be a horse nut to like them.

But here’s the thing. People can go buy a

horseshoe wine rack at some big box

store, or on Amazon.com for cheap. Turn

your horseshoe projects into something

they’ll never see again, especially if they

walk away from your offer.

You want them to kick themselves in the

butt for not buying it.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

The ladies will go gaga over this heart

horseshoe design.

And here’s another that might just convert the

men, too.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen

something like either of these one off

handmade items.

This deer has it’s imperfections, but that’s what

you want. Stay away from perfect as much as

you can.

Welding Project #7:

Custom Light

Fixtures

People are always looking for

talking pieces in their homes.

That’s the reason many women

spend hours searching Pinterest or

Etsy.

These might be good places to get

ideas for your projects. There are

1,000’s of custom welding projects

on pinterest.

Ever seen one of these? Didn’t

think so. It’s so unique you’ll probably never see it again, unless you buy it.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

And here’s another one off light fixture that’s

completely unique.

I could see that hanging in a restaurant, or the

lobby of a business.

And a project like this wouldn’t take you that

long since you’re not dealing with rounded

edges, or sheet metal.

You could put this project together with some

1”x1” square tubing, add the lights and rope,

and take some nice looking pictures.

Then you can approach potential businesses with your portfolio of light fixture designs.

Welding Project #8: Home Decor Lamps

Imagine you’re walking the aisles of Hobby Lobby, and you find the lamps. They will all

have that “professional” feel to them.

Maybe they will have some cool designs,

but will they look handmade?

No, not one of them will have that

handmade look which is why you need to

show some imperfections in your projects.

So onlookers can see that one individual

created it, and not just some company

overseas.

Any project that you can think of that has

home decor in it will have mass appeal.

Everyone has a lamp, and everyone has

an interest in oddities.

Think Barnum and Bailey Circus. They

became so famous for all the “one off”

gimmicks. Rarity sells, period.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

What if you could make a floor lamp like this one, but it extends all the way from the

floor, out of real heavy gauge steel chain?

What if you could make an end table out of chain, too?

Again, this could be a big seller for a man cave.

Welding Project #9: Ornamental Gates

If you can learn how to produce custom ornamental gates, now you’re getting into some

big money. There is a lot of

competition in this space, but that’s

a good things.

It means there is a lot of demand for

ornamental gates.

You can purchase custom scrollers

that will bend the metal into the

curves you want, and there are

companies that sell just the little

ornamental elements that put the

flare into your pieces.

Again, this is a project that will take

you longer to produce, but it will be

worth it when you can sell it for $1,200. Plus, as time goes on you’ll get better at

producing them, and less time will go into them.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

There may be a lot of competition in this area, but if you can niche down within the

niche of ornamental gates you’ll stand apart. What will you be known for? Creating floral

designs in your artwork?

Find something that sets you apart, so you can effectively market yourself.

Welding Project #10: Handmade Crosses

Custom crosses are a popular item. Just go onto Etsy.com, and you’ll see people selling

all different variations of crosses.

When you sell crosses you’re appealing

to a large target audience. Here’s one I

saw that has unique written all over it.

Whoever designed this was very smart.

They took advantage of the fact that

there’s a large market of horseshoe art

lover’s out there.

They also took this cross a step further

by adding wings.

I personally would have left the rustic

look with no paint, but nonetheless, it still sells.

One thing to note if you’re going to sell these things at events is to try and make your

selling booth or space into something that says “This is all handmade stuff”.

Consider putting a blacksmith anvil right on the floor of your selling space with a

hammer. Consider putting your oxy acetylene bottles and torch right there where people

can see it. Also consider creating projects in real time, right there. Fire up your cutting

torch and and bend some metal right there for people to see.

If they will allow it or course.

Also consider doing some welding behind a welding curtain so you don’t burn people’s

eyes. Imagine the crowd you could draw if you actually were able to hammer out some

steel on your anvil.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

Targeting your customers

We talked about targeting your customers already, but you will really have 2 distinct

customers. You’ll have the consumer, and you’ll have businesses.

It’s important that you target the right customers for whatever projects you’re making.

Remember that businesses are a great target to go after, especially for high priced

items.

Most consumers just won’t have the money to pay for a high priced project, but many

businesses want to create that shock appeal to their customers, so they’ll invest in

things like custom light fixtures.

I wouldn’t be shy about approaching businesses right away though. You may feel as

though because you’re just getting your feet wet that businesses won’t want to deal with

you, but that’s false.

If you create a great one off project, you might very well make a nice first sale. Going

this route also gets you out of your comfort zone, and will help you build confidence in

what you’re doing.

How To Market Your Products Effectively

I said earlier that I would show you how to upsell your products effectively, and why this

is the easiest and fastest way to make more money for your business.

When someone is in a buying mode, something happens in their mind on a micro level.

Their brain actually starts to release dopamine, the chemical that gives us good mood

feelings.

When they are buying that initial product from you, there is no better time to offer them

an additional product. The chance that they will say yes goes way up. You have them

hooked at that point, they like your stuff, and now it’s time to offer them more of it.

Think about what happens when someone buys a new car. They start upselling you on

different add ons, different packages, GAP insurance, etc.

This is important. If you hesitate here, the chance of them coming back to you later to

buy again are slim.

Copyright © Makemoneywelding.com 2017

So, what do you say to get them to buy more of your stuff?

Well, you want to first of all congratulate them on making a great decision, and then give

them a one time discount for first time buyers.

You can simply say “Thanks for your purchase. Now you qualify to pick any of these

items for 20% off.”

Not everyone will take you up on it, but this can add heavily to your bottom line.
