Drama - Cooking for two Drama: Cooking for two (Scene: in a kitchen, nestled in a posh apartment) (Tracy stands grilling some meat on a pan. Todd enters, sniffs, and comments.) Todd: What is that smell? Tracy: Do you like it? It's my latest creation. Todd: Not bad. And what is that called, honey? Tracy: Beef a la mode. Dinner will be ready in a minute. Todd: I can't wait. It has been some weeks since I had a good meal. Tracy (shaking her head animatedly): At the rate you are going, it is a miracle you are still standing. Todd (sighs): You are not too far off from the truth. It has been a miserable push. Yet, the work has to be done. I must see it through its completion. Tracy (looking straight into Todd's eye): And how long will that take, superman? Todd (mussing his hair): I'm giving it two weeks. No more than that. I will make sure it finishes by then. Here, let me help you. (Todd assists Tracy in transferring the beef onto a floral plate. Tracy continues preparing the rest of the dinner.) Todd (continuing): I must say that it has been a fair ride, though. The company's been through a lot, you know. Tracy: I'm sure. But you must have a cut-off date. Lest you overstretch yourself. Here, help me with these dishes. (Finishes laying three smaller plates onto the dining table) Let's eat. Why don't you give thanks today? Todd (agreeing): Ok, let's pray. Lord, we give you thanks for the delicious food on the table. May it bless our bodies and keep us strong. In Jesus' name, Amen. Todd (slicing a juicy morsel and sampling it): Mmm...Tracy, you are great! Do you know how perfect this beef is? Tracy (smiling): Really? I just tried it today. But it took quite a bit of meditation. I prepared myself mentally for half-an-hour before I began. Here, have some veggies to go along. Todd: I really mean it. This tastes just like the ones we had at Lawry's last month. Where did you get this piece of beef from? Tracy: I took the most expensive cut from the butcher's down the street. It was their last piece. They gave me a tip though. They told me to thoroughly heat the pan first before putting on the oil. And the searing must be properly done, for that will enhance the crispy texture on the grinds. Todd: Yum! What I like most of all is the juicy, warm tenderness of the meat within. It feels heavenly. If only my work tastes half as good. Page 1

Tracy continues preparing the rest of the dinner.)

Todd (continuing): I must say that it has been a fair ride, though. The company's been through a lot, you know.

Tracy: I'm sure. But you must have a cut-off date. Lest you overstretch yourself. Here, help me with these dishes. (Finishes laying three smaller plates onto the dining table) Let's eat. Why don't you give thanks today?
