With the students at your station, take turns reading the writing prompts provided. Discuss different viewpoints and arguments for several cards. 2. Take an Activity Sheet to help you plan your writing. Choose one of the topics discussed with your friends to complete on your own. 3. Fill in the Activity Sheet with facts, opinions and information. Edit with a partner before you start to write up your draft piece.

Challenge: Many speeches are given from a person’s viewpoint on a topic. Practice reading your opinion piece as a speech. Reflection: How did you prioritize the points you made in your speech? Do you think you would get a different audience response if you reordered them? Why or why not?
