Considerations注意事项

When organising a dinner party there are several things to consider. The first is the number of guests to invite. Dinner parties can easily get out of control and end up as full-fledged parties. However, the idea of a dinner party is a small, intimate gathering of your closest friends and family. With that in mind, invite only the number of guests you can reasonably accommodate in your home. Another consideration is the invitation. The invitation supplies the guests with all important information and informs them

about the dress code or special items to bring. Invitations are one way one can save some money by creating online invitations or printing invitations themselves. When selecting an invitation, make sure it fits the theme of your dinner party and the theme is evident to your guests.

The food plays the most important role at a dinner party. When deciding what food to serve think about your guests. Does anyone suffer from allergies? Are there any favourite or least favourite dishes? Also, think about how the food will tie into the overall theme of the dinner party, they should connect in some way. Finally, consider your time and expertise in the kitchen when choosing the food for a dinner party. Below are some points to consider about the menu.

The female guest of honour seated on the host's right is always served each dish first. If there is serving help, servers move around the table counterclockwise from her, serving the host last.

It's better to designate a serving and cleaning buddy in advance to help- a younger family member or a close friend, but your other guests should be just that, guests, and remain at the table.

After Dinner Coffee & Drinks餐后咖啡及饮品

After-dinner coffee can be served either at the dining table or in another room to which the guests have moved. The host/hostess can pour the coffee right at the dining-room table or from a tray that has been carried to another room.

对于想要帮忙收拾餐桌的宾客，只需要

说：“不用，谢谢您，我自己来收拾

If the coffee is served at the table, bottles of after-dinner drinks may also be placed on the table. If coffee is served in the living room, a tray containing bottles and glasses is placed on the coffee table.

Relax and listen. Most conversational errors are committed by those who talk too much. The practical rule for continuing a conversation is just taking it one word at a time. Don't think about the entire conversation, just respond to one-step-at-a-time. Listen carefully to your own words and pay attention to the reaction of the person you are speaking to. You must think before speaking.

At some point during dinner, talk to both your neighbours. Today, conversation at the table often includes three or four people sitting near one another. If you notice that one of your neighbours is left with no one to talk to, either include him or her in your conversation or turn at a break in your discussion to talk to him/her for a while.
