Office of the President
RULES – RULES – RULES – who needs all these RULES!
As you may have noticed we have injected several new additions
to our operating rules this year. These additions were not added
to encumber you but rather to enable the club to operate
smoother.
The change of the activity points system was to simplify it. The list kept growing and growing. Now we
have a simple and easy way to calculate the points.
The social media guidelines were added to create clarity as to what was accepted and who would be
monitoring it for the good of the club.
The guidelines for credit card processing were needed to enable the club to offer the option of using
credit cards to pay for various club events and items. This should be very handy for those of you that do
not carry a check book or cash. But we also needed to outline who had access and use of the system.
Moving the inventory audit from the treasurer to the members at large was done because the treasurer
has a lot of time invested in the day to day operation of the club. With two members at large it also
helps when two people work together and the task gets completed so much quicker.
But the last change was very important to a lot of club members, Guidelines for Charity Distribution. I
hope you all consider what charities you would like the club to contribute to in 2019. The process is
outlined and implemented to enable the club to choose charities that are local, along with supporting
the national charity. A lot of discussion and thought went into creating this process and we hope that it
will be a way to contribute financially to several worthwhile charities. But also, that everyone feels they
got consideration for the charities they would like to see supported. We have made this a yearly
proposition and hope to see diversity in the charities chosen each year. Four different charities enable
us to send a nice amount of financial support to each chosen charity.
I would like to thank Ray Kennedy and all of those that participated on the rules committee, along with
everyone on the board that spent time considering and proposing solutions to these propositions.
As we move forward as a club, I hope you see these changes and additions as a positive evolution for
everyone.
Your CCC President
Kevin Reit

From the Governor’s desk…
Let the summer fun begin. I just returned from the quarterly Governor’s
meeting and the NCCC is alive and well. We now have over 18,000 members
nationwide and as summer kicks off, there are events around the country for
Corvette enthusiasts to attend. But I must say, in talking to other governors
from around the country, Cornhusker Corvette Club is one of the most active
clubs in the nation.
CCC’s ability to mix socials and competition is a hallmark of the club and one of
the reasons we were number one in the nation again last year. Think about it, you can go to a meet and
greet on a Tuesday, a car show/dinner on a Thursday and race all weekend long just about any week this
summer. What a chance to get those cars out and have some fun.
By the time this is published, the driving school will have been conducted and I hope we had several new
faces to take to the track and explore the limits of the American driving machine. The race season gets
underway this coming weekend the 19th and 20th with a scholarship run at Southeast Community College
in Lincoln. Our goal this year is to offer two $600.00 scholarships to deserving students from race
proceeds. How great an event is this? I have already been contacted by 5 different participants coming
in from Illinois because they know we run great events. I hope to see many of you out there either
driving or just having fun socializing and maybe helping with corners, meals, timing or just having fun
watching the races. Don’t forget all of our events whether social or completion are located on our
website at www.cornhuskercorvette.club and through the email system from our social director.
I need to ask one favor from all of you at our next general meeting, please take an extra moment to
check your address, email address and other information at the back table when you come in. This is
the only way we have to communicate with member and we need to make sure our information is
updated periodically. Thank you,
Let’s get those cars out, enjoy the weather and the company of other member and make this another
year we can claim rights to the number one club in the nation. As always, it’s because we are truly a
club with something for everyone.

Ray Kennedy, Vice President, was absent. Kevin reviewed the proposed changes to the Operating Rules:
(1) Rather than naming the out of town events in the Operating Rules, points will be awarded by the distance
travelled and staying overnight
(2) Award for Best Idea of the Year will be chosen by the winner from the previous year,
(3) On our social media, Facebook Twitter and Instagram, the change outlines what the messages may contain and
who has access to monitor these accounts,
(4) Change that allows us to start using credit cards for purchases with the Club. There will be a 3% charge which
covers our processing fee with the credit card company,
(5) There will be a change in charity distribution. In the past we have followed where NCCC has contributed. We
have outlined how we plan to choose the charity/charities beginning in 2019,
(6) The inventory of Club equipment will be moved from the Treasurer to Members at Large. These changes are
shown in detail in the April newsletter. Kevin asked if there were any questions or discussions on these changes.
There were none. Kevin asked for a motion to accept these changes. Bob Edmundson made a motion that we
accept these changes, and Pat Swift seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Tom Horeis, Treasurer, went over the budget figures for March by line item. Tom told us that after holding the
position of Treasurer for 17 years, he is considering stepping down next year. We will need for someone to step up
into this position.

not, let Jon know. He will be going to the Governors’ Meeting in St.Louis on May 5th. Our auto cross on October
20th and 21st will be the West Region Fund Raiser. CCI members have committed to help with the event. He

We Need Your Input
Because of the large number of CCC members that are not
available in January for the Awards Banquet, we are
considering moving it to April. This would take the place of the
April meeting and we would have a regular meeting in January. Please take a
moment and share your preference.

WHY I LOVE BEING A MEMBER OF THE CORNHUSKER CORVETTE CLUB
(A woman’s viewpoint)
Besides my love of the awesome. gorgeous cars in our Club with their loud, high horsepower engines (the louder
the better), there are many reasons I love CCC.
1. Friendships (by far, the most important)
I think we have the most positive, fun people in the world who care about each other.
2. We have fun together – our long road trips, day trips, meet and greet dinners, monthly general meetings,
car shows, parades and special events. We have social directors who have worked very hard on the many
social events we enjoy. Our men meet every Tuesday morning for breakfast (no women allowed). The
women have luncheons most Tuesdays and quilt or sew the first and third Thursdays of the month.
3. We give thousands of dollars to charitable organizations: Kidney Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s
Research Hospital, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Moving Veterans Forward, Toys for Tots, Soap Box
Derby, non-perishable food to Stephens Center, toiletries to a local women’s homeless center and back
pack program in Yutan, NE.
4. Our Club has produced some of the top racers in the country, and we have been the No. 1 NCCC club for
many years. We have been awarded the Duntov Award, which very few clubs have ever been awarded.
5. We have many dedicated people in our Club who have made this Club the outstanding club it is.
And, to think, when we bought our first Corvette, I was
not sure I wanted to join this Club. After all, people with
these beautiful cars had to be “Stuck Up Snobs.”
Nothing could be farther from the truth. I cannot
imagine not being a part of this great club!!!
