Why You Should Pay Very Close Attention To What I’m About To Reveal To You

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and answer the question, “Who the heck is this guy who calls himself the ‘Psychic Salesman’ and why should I listen to him?”

I used to be a struggling entertainer - a magician and mentalist to be precise. I was only doing three shows a month and was deeply in debt. Then I discovered the power of marketing and leads started pouring in.

But that caused a big problem…

I wasn’t closing sales. I wasn’t turning prospects into clients. Not only was it depressing, it was also painful because I was wasting all the money I was spending on marketing to generate these leads!

I was desperate. It was do or die. Either I learned how to sell, or I was going to have to get a regular job which felt like death to me.

I went out and read every book, went to every seminar, and studied every audio and video course from the famous, traditional sales gurus you would know. And you know what? Most of it didn’t work. On top of that, I hated using the blatantly manipulative and high-pressure sales techniques I was taught. I knew there had to be a better way to sell.

So I spent hundreds of hours and tens of thousands of dollars studying the world’s most powerful persuasion, influence, and mind control experts. And I saw things and learned things that I could not have imagined.

I also started incorporating techniques I had been using in my mentalism show to my sales presentations including cold reading (the art of getting inside someone’s mind), hypnotic language patterns, and more.

From all of this, and after a lot of trial and error, I created a system that effortlessly turned prospects into clients without high pressure, old fashioned, outdated sales techniques.

Once I put this system into place, my business exploded. I went from doing three shows a month to averaging 25-30 shows a month in less than 90 days.

Other business owners started asking me to teach my system to them and to their sales teams and their results were just as incredible including doubling their sales.

But Here’s Where It Gets Really Cool I was asked by my mentor, Dan Kennedy, to speak at one of his seminars to teach his audience my Psychic Sales skills. The one caveat was that I needed to sell a product at the end of my presentation, so I put together a product I called The Psychic Salesperson System & Toolkit which laid out my system in a step by step format.

But there was the problem... I had only been doing “one-to-one” sales presentations either in-person or over the phone. I had never sold to a group before. Would my Psychic Sales skills work in a one-to-many sales environment?

Well, at the end of my presentation, I created a buying frenzy. I had a stampede of people running to the back of the room, credit cards in hand, to buy what I was selling. When the dust settled, I had sold over $300,000 worth of a product in just 75-minutes and ended up being the top-seller at the entire event.

Not only had I developed a bullet-proof system for selling one-to-one, but for group sales presentations as well.

Since then, I’ve refined my Psychic Sales process into a real system that works like magic for one-to-one selling, selling in webinars, in video and in-person group selling presentations. The results amaze even me.

Getting good at selling isn’t going to automatically change your business and make you millions. In fact, if you offer an inferior product or service, then I’ve got really bad news for you: The process I teach will only accelerate how quickly your market knows that.

Laying The Groundwork

I’m going to share with you the foundational steps that I use to lay the groundwork for crafting killer presentations. This system has produced MILLIONS of dollars worth of sales for myself, my private clients, and students.

If you use what you’re about to learn, this report will be the most valuable thing you read all year. First, a story to get us to where we’re going.

I remember it well…

It was my first day as a real deal salesperson at WHMP radio in Northampton, MA. I was nervous but excited about all the money I was going to make.

The sales manager, Tom Hennessy gave me an in-depth training program that consisted of a slap on the back and the words, “Go out there and get ‘em ‘killa’”.

With that, I was thrown to the wolves without a clue as to what to do. But I knew that I had to do something so I started cold calling on businesses by going door to door.

As you might have guessed, this was ugly and demoralizing. I was rejected over and over again.

I had read in Tom Hopkins’ book, “How To Master The Art Of Selling” that I shouldn’t take rejection personally as they were rejecting my offer, and not me.

On paper that looked good, but when you are told over and over again “I’m not interested”, it gets to you – especially when you’re wet behind the ears.

At this time, I didn’t know anything about positioning or lead generation – in fact, I didn’t know much at all.

I went into every sales situation unprepared, totally winging it. I hadn’t heard of scripting a sales presentation.

Eventually, it dawned on me that all professionals script their presentations.

If you go to see a Broadway play, it doesn’t feel like the actors are reciting lines they memorized. It feels real because it’s well-scripted and rehearsed.

A professional football team has a set of scripted plays that they practice over and over again.

Winging it is never a good idea.

There is a book titled, “Strong Magic.” It is about the performance of magic. There wasn’t a single trick in it.

One of the things the author emphasized was every trick you do needs to be scripted and that script memorized. He also correctly pointed out that when you’re working from a script, your ability to be spontaneous actually increases.

The reason is so you don’t have to worry about what you’re going to say next. You can be truly present with your audience. (That’s a huge lesson for any type of selling whether it’s one-on-one or one-to-many. )

A real pro has his ad-libs, scripted too. You read that correctly. If you see a professional performer or speaker, oftentimes what appears to be a spontaneous comment is actually scripted.

David Copperfield is a master of this. At every show, he spots a woman in the front row that has a pair of binoculars. He acts surprised, takes the binoculars from her and engages in some witty byplay that appears to be off the cuff. Again, that woman just happens to be in the audience at every show.

Doing a canned presentation isn’t a good idea either. A canned presentation is one that you deliver by rote, using stock lines that sound like stock lines.

Not Canned, Planned

The big difference between a canned presentation and a planned or scripted presentation is presence.

In a canned presentation, you are not present with your prospect. You really aren’t listening to or observing them, you just deliver words you’ve memorized.

A scripted presentation allows you to be really present with your prospect because you know where you’re going and how you are going to get there.

Okay, now that you’re convinced you should be working from a script, how do you go about starting to write one?

The Steps

First, you need to make a list of all of the EMOTIONAL reasons someone will buy your product. You must dig deep, get beyond the surface level reasons and get to the real drivers that cause your prospects to buy.

For a lot of what I sell, those reasons include power, control, freedom, fear of loss, etc. You need to determine what they are for your audience.

Second, you need to create a list of all the features of your product or service with the corresponding benefits. The emphasis, of course, should be on benefits. I’m shocked at how many salespeople still screw this up.

A common example is someone selling an information product and describing it as “Six CD’s, a 172 page binder, and a members only website.” Yay! Let me whip out my credit card for that exciting bundle of goodness!

While it is important to talk about features, you always need to give the corresponding benefits.

One of my first sales trainers described it this way: “Whenever you give a feature say or think, “which means to you…” Example: “In addition to everything else, we give you lifetime access to our members only website which means you’ll be able to interact with other members, share ideas and get the latest updates so you will always be connected, growing, and making more money.”

Third, is to create an objection sheet. One of the big differences between one-to-one selling and one-to-many selling is how you handle objections. In both cases, you should write down every objection your prospect could have and how you are going to handle them.

Here is a very important side-note: The weakest form of handling objections is what the sales gurus call "rebuttals." This is where you use some canned response when a prospect brings up an objection. Basically, you prove to the prospect that they were wrong. Stupid.

Real professionals answer objections in advance in the context of their presentation.

That strategy is even more important in one-to-many selling like in sales videos and sales letters because your prospect is unable to raise an objection. You must answer them in advance or you're going to lose the sale.

In order to use any of these strategies though, you need to write down the objections in advance.

Fourth is to write down the offer. Your offer will include the features and benefits, the cost, payments, bonuses, and the big transformation your product or service causes for the buyer. You can’t start crafting a sales presentation until you know precisely what it is you’re selling. as the late Stephen Covey said, you want to “begin with the end in mind.”

The Hierarchy Of Persuasion

Let’s talk a little bit about the big transformation. This is what your product or service really does for your customer and is almost always tied to the emotional reasons you listed earlier.

Having the order form completed before you start writing your script has some major advantages including the fact that there is a hierarchy of reasons someone buys your product or service. From least important to most important they are: 1) Features, 2) Benefits, 3) Outcomes, 4) Transformation. Here is an example:

Feature: 6 CD sales training course.

Benefit: You will learn cutting-edge strategies for making more sales

Outcome: Your closing percentage will improve and you will make more money.

Transformation: You will live a life free of financial stress, full of freedom, and be able to provide for your family in the way they deserve.

You’re going to emphasize the transformation throughout your presentation and especially during your close.

How To Structure Your Presentation

At this point, you know the emotional reasons your prospect wants to buy your product or service, you have a list of all the features and benefits, you have a list of the reasons why your prospect might now buy and you know precisely what your offer is.

Naturally, what I just shared with you is the tip of the iceberg. After this, you need to put your sales presentation together following a very specific structure which varies whether you are selling in a one-on-one situation or in a group selling situation.
