Featuring Stephen J. Chu, DMD, MSD, CDTAdjunct Clinical Professor in the Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry and the Department of Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry.

Stephen J. Chu maintains an academic appointment as Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry and the Department of Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. He also has a private practice in Fixed Prosthodontics, Aesthetic, and Implant Dentistry in New York City. Dr. Chu has published over 50 articles in the dental literature and has given lectures nationally and internationally on the subjects of esthetic, restorative, and implant dentistry. Immediate Tooth Replacement Therapy with Multiple Implants, Teeth, and Pontics in the Esthetic Zone Current trends in implant therapy

advocate clinical techniques that promote treatment efficiency consisting of condensed clinical procedures, fewer patient appointments, and shortened overall treatment time. Even though there is overwhelming literature to support positive outcomes in regard to implant survival through immediate implant therapy and tooth replacement strategies, esthetic questions still loom, specifically, how to handle multiple tooth sites in the esthetic zone. This presentation will address treatment planning strategies with multiple tooth sites incorporating teeth, immediate implants with tooth replacement, and pontics in the esthetic zone as well as innovative devices and strategies used in provisional restoration fabrication.

SynopsisImplant dentistry is continuously evolving, offering new and more predictable forms of therapy with minimally invasive protocols. Innovative techniques now allow for better esthetics, decreased treatment time, and greater patient comfort. However, these new techniques and therapies continue to raise questions and concerns regarding the risks and rewards of each, specifically, controversial issues regarding immediate extraction socket implant placement in relationship to survival and esthetic outcomes. Immediate provisional restoration of implants placed into anterior sites will be presented. This lecture will address current concepts in the treatment of Type 1, 2, and 3 sockets, techniques, clinical research, histologic evidence, and innovations in immediate implant placement and provisional restoration fabrication, and how they can enhance treatment procedures, reduce time, and improve clinical outcomes for greater patient comfort, care, and satisfaction.

Learning ObjectivesAfter this presentation, the attendee should be able to understand the following concepts associated with immediate implant placement and provisional restoration:1. The treatment time and survival rates associated with immediate protocols2. The prosthetic and biologic impact on hard tissue buccal contour change and peri-implant soft tissuethickness3. Prothodontic innovations in provisional restoration fabrication4. Management of implants placed into extraction sockets that have dehiscence defects

Porcelain Veneers

Educational Objectives for

April 27-28, 2018 Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pmSaturday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Conference Overview

This Advanced Clinical Esthetic Dentistry Program is designed to provide participating dentists with a combined didactic, laboratory, and live clinical experience in selected cosmetic areas. Practitioners will have the opportunity to use a variety of different materials and techniques in a mentored environment. The topics covered include anterior composite restorations, posterior composite restorations, indirect composite restorations, fiber reinforced bridges, temporization, home and in-office tooth bleaching, bonding, polishing, color, porcelain veneers, and crowns. After the lectures and laboratory experiences, the participants may, in some sessions, advance to the clinic where they will treat patients under the guidance of the program faculty.

SponsorsThe program is co-sponsored by the General Dentistry Program and Esthetic Dentistry Unit at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health/Eastman Dental and the Upstate New York Affiliate of The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Schedule of eventsThe Clinical Esthetic Dentistry Program will convene on four Fridays and Saturdays as follows:January 26-27, 2018 February 9-10, 2018 March 9-10, 2018 April 27-28, 2018

About the Program

The program will provide participating dentists with a thorough, hands-on understanding of specific treatment-centered areas. It is geared to train the practitioner in the evaluation of comparative materials and techniques. After completing this program, the participants should be able to immediately practice the new skills on their own. Brief, fast-paced, treatment-oriented lectures by leading clinicians introduce each subject area with a description of the clinical procedures and available materials. The participants then have the opportunity to practice the specific techniques in a lab setting. Interested participants may then move to the clinical setting, where patients are treated with over-the-shoulder assistance from the instructors. Since esthetic dental materials and techniques are in a constant state of evolution, training will not be limited to a single system or product.
