The contactors are pre-charged via the early-make auxiliary contacts and the fitted wire resistors, thereby reducing the inrush current. The main contacts then close after a time lag and carry the uninterrupted current.Due to their special contacts, capacitor contactors are weld-resistant for capacitors with inrush current peaks up to 180 �

Notes Use of contactors without resistors for group compensation.When using contactors for group compensation, a minimum inductance of approximately 6 µH per capacitor must be available to limit the high inrush current peaks. This means an air-cored coil with five windings and a coil diameter of approximately 140 mm. The conductor cross-section must be selected according to the rated current per phase.
Through the use of quick-discharge resistors, the danger of complete polarity reversal in the event of rapidly recurring closure can be excluded. The resultant discharge times are 0.2 s. The resistor is switched by means of two auxiliary contacts of the contactor.
