Hello Family and Friends of Willaura Primary School, Welcome to Term 2, which is promising to be the most memorable term of our lives! I hope you all are well and are settling into the new routine with your families. Moving to Remote Learning has brought with it many challenges and triumphs. I am so proud of our school community in their smooth transition into remote learning. I was actually clapping on Thursday when all students logged into our video conferences for the first time. It will take a bit of time to adjust to the change and I feel everyday we will face new discoveries, about ourselves and our character. It is a time to remain calm and show courage, even if you have to fake it. It is hard to imagine what the world will be when we emerge from our cocoons. One thing is certain, the fact that we are social-distancing and isolating means that we are suppressing the spread of the virus. I would like to thank the teaching staff for the incredible job, with their flexibility to move to remote teaching and settling into working from their homes. I would like to thank the parents for your support and encouragement which has been second to none. There has not been one complaint from any parent and you have all accommodated the move to having your children at home enthusiastically, thank you. Having said that, having your children at home learning has many challenges. It is your home, not a school…you are their parent, not a teacher. But you have been teaching them since the day they were born. You do not need to replicate the school experience, be the teacher you already are. Thank you for the sacrifices you all are making. You have shown resilience, empathy and gratitude. We will come out of this stronger with a new sense of purpose and will never take what we had for granted. This week a former teacher dropped in some baked goods from the Willaura Bakery, with this beautiful note. Her thoughtfulness made my day and I realised that we are all looking after one another. If you are feeling stressed or have any questions or concerns please contact your classroom teacher or myself, we may not have all the answers, but we will be there to listen and support you. Hello Family and Friends of Willaura Primary School,

Welcome to Term 2, which is promising to be the most memorable term of our lives! I hope you all are well and

are settling into the new routine with your families. Moving to Remote Learning

has brought with it many challenges and triumphs. I am so proud of our

school community in their smooth transition into remote learning. I was

actually clapping on Thursday when all students logged into our video

conferences for the first time. It will take a bit of time to adjust to the change

and I feel everyday we will face new discoveries, about ourselves and our

character. It is a time to remain calm and show courage, even if you have to

fake it. It is hard to imagine what the world will be when we emerge from our

cocoons. One thing is certain, the fact that we are social-distancing and

isolating means that we are suppressing the spread of the virus.

I would like to thank the teaching staff for the incredible job, with their flexibility

to move to remote teaching and settling into working from their homes. I would

like to thank the parents for your support and encouragement which has been

second to none. There has not been one complaint from any parent and you

have all accommodated the move to having your children at home enthusiastically, thank you. Having said

that, having your children at home learning has many challenges. It is your home, not a school…you are their

parent, not a teacher. But you have been teaching them since the day they were born. You do not need to

replicate the school experience, be the teacher you already are.

Thank you for the sacrifices you all are making. You have shown resilience,

empathy and gratitude. We will come out of this stronger with a new sense of

purpose and will never take what we had for granted. This week a former teacher

dropped in some baked goods from the Willaura Bakery, with this beautiful note.

Her thoughtfulness made my day and I realised that we are all looking after one

another. If you are feeling stressed or have any questions or concerns please

contact your classroom teacher or myself, we may not have all the answers, but

we will be there to listen and support you.

Thinking of you all,

Miss Rae

Prep/2

Welcome back to term 2! We have all embraced our new classroom with such a postive mindset that I couldn't be prouder of the P-2 class. At times it can be overwhelming and tricky to use the computer as well as staying focused in class but every family should be so proud of everyone involved in our new 'normal'. Already in 1 week the skills and confidence gained in the class with working online and using a computer is amazing!

We have been busy as always learning new things, like how to mute our microphone, that we are always on the camera, how to tell a retell, write a narrative and all about time!

We have been set different challenges each week. Last week they went off on a maths scavenger hunt after having to answer lots of counting questions. This week everyone had the challenge of either cooking a meal or baking something to share with their family. There were so many tasty pictures sent in with everyone in the kitchen cooking things like golden syrup dumplings, scones, cookies, Chocolate crackles and dinners on the bbq, pizza and even a home made kfc chicken and bread. This was a great way for the P - 2 to help in the house as well as working on their literacy, maths and even science skills!

Thank you everyone for being so helpful and doing your best it is very appreciated and I am excited for what this term will bring!

Grade 3-6

Welcome back to Term 2 and learning from home. It has been so lovely seeing everyone’s bright and bubbly faces.

Learning from home is new to us all and our learning will be at a significantly slower pace than normal. It is important to remember that our learning from home program is flexible and can be changed to suit your families to reduce stress from both parents and students.

Currently, our structure is as follows:

9.30-10.30: Catch-up and Literacy

11.30-12.30: Numeracy

Afternoons: Flexible to suit your families

We will video conference with all students at 9.30 and 11.30 to explain the days learning then they will work independently. Please note that students will not be required to be in our ‘meetings’ for the entire time of each learning block.

I will stay in our meetings so students can pop in and out if they or you have any questions.

If you have any questions, queries or concerns please don’t hesitate to email me.

[email protected]

Willaura Primary School is committed to child safety (Ministerial Order No. 870) and

takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the safety of our students is paramount.
