It motivates listeners to not give up and to live life to the fullest” Yaiva says, and has dedicated his life to serving the youth, and he delivers his philosophy through a medium which they can hear and understand, music. The “Written in Blood” compilation album is an effort to address the violence in communities of color. Many of the songs are from established artists in the Native music scene who have actively shared their voices on this topic or have been affected by violence in their own lives. What is unique about this album is that there are five new songs from up and coming artists who have lived and survived street life on the reservation and urban communities. The compilation album will also feature Casper Loma-Dawa from Hopi, KASP from Victoria, BC, Canada, 2006 NAMMY winner Buggin Malone from Oneida, Quese iMC of the Pawnee and Seminole Nations, Hell-n-Back of Team Rez Official from Vancouver, BC, Canada, Wabs Whitebird of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and more. Pow-wow and traditional singers include the award winning hand drum singer Jaye Begay, southern group Buc Wild of Chinle, northern group Rivertail of Flagstaff, AZ. Kelvin Long of Flagstaff also and Brian Holmes of Hotevilla, AZ. from Third Mesa on the Hopi reservation. Music from the new album can currently be heard on KUYI from Hopi, KSJD in Cortez Colorado, KXTC in Gallup New Mexico, KSUT from Southern Ute, on the Hualapai Tribe on internet youth operated radio station E-PCH the Peach on the Kidstar Radio Network, on Thundercloud radio online and portions of this song debuted in January 2010 on Native American Calling during Yaiva’s interview about Peace and Balance. We are seeking assistant to help produce, market and print 2000 copies of this album. We will sell as a fund raising effort for Peace and Balance youth group and also offer the new artists a jump start in their careers as artists. All contributions of $300 and more will receive a tax-deductible receipt from our 501c3 non- profit organization to be used on their 2010 tax returns and organization/company name on all marketing material and in the CD jacket.

Artist Bio Pages:

Casper Loma-Dawa is a Hopi / Diné singer who has created a sound that combines his native roots with the positive vibes of reggae music. Casper’s music is filled with hope and power. The words are a reflection of his own philosophy on life, influenced not only by the sounds of crucial reggae music but of traditional Hopi culture.

Casper is currently on the Native Music Rocks tour with the Seminole tribe of Florida that is showcasing a hand full of exceptional Native musicains. They recently returned from the UK and preparing for a follow-up tour.

Jaye Begaye is a Dine’ singer, songwriter, painter, sculptor and a former rodeo contestant. He was born and raised on the Navajo Reservation in the small town of Steamboat Canyon, Arizona. Several of his recordings have earned both critical and popular acclaim. His recording Round Dance In Beauty was a 2001 AFIM India Awards finalist and it earned him Best Male Artist and Best Traditional Recording nominations at the 2001 Native American Music Awards. His album, Song of Colors also earned a nomination at the 2004 Indian Summer Music Awards. When not touring and making public

appearances, Jay donates a great deal of his time to helping today's youth on the Navajo Reservation.

Wab Kinew (pron: WOB ka-NOO) is a one-of-a-kind musical talent, named by the Winnipeg Free Press as one of the top artists to watch from Manitoba. He's won an Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award for his hip-hop and an ImaginaNative Film Fest award for his journalism for the CBC. He was also nominated for a Future Leaders of Manitoba award this year.

Kasp is committed to serving Aboriginal Youth. He is from Vancouver, British Columbia. He is also a renowned hip-hop emcee from the group 7th Generation who has been recipients of numerous music awards. His inspirational keynotes have now intertwined the story telling of his life, growing, persevering, and expressing his life through his music which he also shares with the audience. Kasp has facilitated workshops over the past 7 years and can cater to most topics regarding youth. He has worked with youth organizations, bands, health centers, ministries, MCFD and delegated agencies, jails and prison settings, conferences and family events.

Kelvin Long is Dine' and is a hand-drum singer, inter-national speaker, flute player and community activist. Long. is the Executive Director of ECHOES, a grass roots organization dedicated to enacting social and environmental justice and a board member of the Black Mesa Water Coalition. He also is an original member of the Save The Peaks Coalition a speaker for the United Nations Youth Delegation and dedicates time to speaking with youth about substance abuse, violence and the need to protect sacred sites.

Big Luda is a young Hopi and Dine’ hip-hop artist with passion for rhyming and has a gift to express himself eloquently over beats and rhythms. He is also a college student and an accomplished baseball player being one of the top in the state of Arizona who lives a healthy balanced lifestyles and carries a proud tradition from both lines of his family to be a successful, motivated, grounded young man.

Buggin’ Malone lets his music writings and production reflect his life experiences, his passions, and his philosophy on life. Buggin’ is Oneida, but he is of blended tribes, Prairie Band Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, and Stockbridge-Munsee. Buggin’ struggled with gang activities throughout his early years. These troubles lead him to being incarcerated as a teen. Ten years later he released his first CD, titled "Birth of A Warrior" which earned him three award nominations, the Native American Music Awards, and the Indian Summer Music Awards. Buggin’ has since released 3 award winning albums but his

music is more than about his awards but about his politically charged vocals, truth, struggle and the need and want to reach all peoples, especially the youth.

Executive Producer Bio - Gabriel Yaiva is known to many simply as a rapper/music producer and promoter. Yaiva is involved in more then the entertainment and music scene. Yaiva is Navajo and Hopi. Yaiva is a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in Applied Indigenous Studies and a minor in Economic Development. He directs the Peace and Balance project of the Native Movement (501c3 non-profit organization) and dedicates a large amount of his time to motivating, encouraging and bringing hope to the youth.
