WORKSHOP A: Modularization A-Z: Collaborative Project Delivery

WORKSHOP C: Modularization A-Z: The Estimating Process

WORKSHOP B: Modularization A-Z: Modular Design & Constructability (Boxed Lunch to be served)

While Modular & Prefabricated construction is meant to simplify the build-out process and it often does – each individual project site is unique and requires adapted solutions in order to thrive. This session is structured in order to present the Owner/Operator perspective in order to provide EPC’s, Fabricators, Transportation and other Service Providers an understanding as to what it is that Energy companies would like to achieve through the use of prefabricated modules in Project Development and Operations.

While we know that each individual project will be unique based on a number of factors; we also know that modules are meant to provide an simpler route to construction through prefabrication. Ensuring that the design and constructability are properly taken into account is a significant and essential principal to the process.

The development of a new projects offers both challenges and opportunities – but it is the opportunities that move the industry forward; new technologies, new methodologies and the prospect of operating better than before. The Estimating Process is one of the best ways in order to ensure that you are properly taking into account all of the particulars with regards to your modularization projects.

Attend this session in order to:

· Understand what the perspective of the Owner/Operator; and what challenges and constraints they are experiencing

· Learn directly from multiple Owner/Operators in an interactive roundtable format

Julian Bowron, President & CEO, Vector Praxis

Attend this session in order to:

· Comprehend the process of modular design from inception through to installation

· Discover the factors that come into play when constructing a module and how those considerations must be taken into account

Speaker TBA

Attend this session in order to:

· This session will explore a situation in which the modular construction estimating process was an integral part of the overall project planning process and added significant ROI to the project

11:30 am Risk Analysis & the ROI of Modularization to Identify Project Investment Strategies

Properly identifying and forecasting your project’s risk level is one of the most important early considerations with regards to any modular project. That risk analysis phase, and associated project development strategy will offer your organization the opportunity to prepare the ground work for your project, make any necessary amendments to the project plan, and ensure that your project is a feasible and cost-effective development.

Attend this session in order to:

· Understand the metrics of risk analysis and how they affect your modular design

· Comprehend how to design a sounds project investment strategy

12:15 pm Networking Luncheon – Roundtable Discussions**

1:15 pm Mahaffey Fabric Structures Session

2:00 pm The Advantages of ‘Green’ Modular Construction

The modular building system especially for doing workforce camps is the only way it is done and has been done the same way for decades. I will be talking about the advantages of building green modular workforce camps which everyone should be doing but are not mostly because no one is offering it. With Fort MacMurray constantly being in the lime light of the press and always about the environmental impact that harvesting oil from the tar sands all companies with workforce camps need to take notice on how and what to do better regarding everything environmental and take responsibility of doing environmental stewardship in their day to day operations of their company. This session will explain how and what type of green environmental energy efficient camps they should be building and why. By doing it this way they will look good to the public eye and press and at the same time saving money and increasing the productivity of their work force. The combination of building a green energy efficient and healthy workforce camp go hand in hand.

3:30 pm PANEL DISCUSSION: The Owner’s Perspective: Modular Implementation

Many Energy companies have been successful in implementing a modular construction plan for their recent projects. This session will explore that build out from the perspective of the Owner and look at the entire process from feasibility through to operations.

Attend this session in order to:

· Benchmark your implementation plan and understand how an Owner was able to achieve success

· Learn what prefabricated modules are best suited for your construction plan

Martin Clutterbuck, Manager, Fabrication & Modularization, Devon Energy Canada

Wayne Dewstow, Construction Manager, Apache Energy

4:15 pm ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: 4 Party Discussion: Owner, EPC, Transportation & Fabricator

If Miners don’t know what they want out of a modular build – how will anyone else? This session is structured in order to present the Owner/Operator perspective, along with the perspectives of EPC’s, Fabricators, and Transportation Service Providers in order to properly understand the varied perspectives of the major players in modular build out. This session will focus on what Mining companies would like to achieve through the use of prefabricated modules in their mining operations.

9:15 am Project Execution Internationally The Gulf Coast in particular is known for its use of

Super Modules throughout the industry. The fabrication, transportation and installation of Super Modules along the Gulf Coast is well developed given the numerous means for moving these Mega Modules from one place to another – that doesn’t mean however that their integration into the project planning process is without incident. This session will examine the use of a Super Module in a project in North America from the perspective of the Owner/Operator, Fabricator, Transportation & Logistic Provider, and the EPC.

Attend this session in order to:

· Understand how each player in the industry contributes to the proper elaboration of, and on-time development of a Super Module

· Learn the most comprehensive perspective of how to develop a Super Module and potential uses from the individuals who drive their development in the industry

John Baumanis, Supply Chain Manager – Europe Capital Projects, ConocoPhillips

10:00 am Modular Structures for the Protection of Human Capital

RedGuard is a world leader in the design and manufacture of modular hardened structures. Our primary mission is providing lifesaving blast resistant technology to the oil, gas, chemical and petrochemical industries. You will also find our buildings at work in dozens of applications outside of the petroleum markets including government, military, and industrial security applications. This fascinating presentation will offer insight into RedGuard products and the technology and testing behind providing structures that can withstand a blast while protecting the lives inside. We will look at human response to blasts and the API and ASCE standards that govern the industry. A look at interesting and challenging blast building projects will be followed by a brief Q&A.

Dean Alcott, Market Development Manager, RedGuard

10:45 am Morning Networking Break

11:30 am Quick Fire Sessions 3 – 15 Minute Long Topics

11:30 am Transportation Logistics Ensuring that you have a sound transportation strategy is

one of the most important considerations to contemplate prior to construction. Because of the lack of ‘module friendly’ infrastructure around the Gulf Coast – this session will investigate the options available for transporting modules to the mine-site.

Attend this session in order to:

· Transporting modules from the fabrication point to the instillation site can involve a large number of transportation methods including ships, rail, and road

· Understanding the issues at play with regard to transportation logistics is of the utmost importance in order to ensure that your project remains viable and cost effective

· Forecast the possible risks of schedule delays, resource allocation, availability of man power and materials, delivery, transportation and logistics

Martin Clutterbuck, Manager, Fabrication & Modularization, Devon Energy Canada

11:45 am Feasibility Study for Scheduling The more remote a location, the less time you have to

ensure your transportation and installation. This session will offer the perspective of industry professionals dealing with scheduling issues from the ‘ground floor’.

Attend this session in order to:

· This issue touches upon transportation, fabrication, materials and manpower

· How are the best supply chains organized and what can be done to improve the process?

· Ensuring that the modules are efficiently shipped to the site and installed on time

Ali Aga, Project Engineering Manager – Modularization Manager, Technip

12:00 pm Materials Management: Supply Chain & Scheduling

Designing, Construction, Installing and Operating a module isn’t simply based around the movement of that module; but also all of the materials utilized in its pre-construction & construction phases. This session will spotlight the supply chain with regards to materials and equipment used in the modular construction process and will provide perspective surrounding the movement and integration of materials and equipment into the construction process.

Attend this session in order to:

· Learn about the importance of the materials and equipment supply chain

· Benchmark against your colleagues and competitors to further comprehend the differences between their supply chain network and your own
