WELCOME ADDRESS

Dear partners and exhibitors!

On behalf of the Slovak Toxicology Society and the Local Organising Committee, we invite you participate in the 53rd Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology to be held in Bratislava, September 10–13, 2017.

The Scientific Program Committee is preparing an exciting programme with over 30 symposia and workshops that will highlight the novel findings in the field of toxicology. Four poster sessions and five Continuing Education Courses will offer a wide range of opportunities to enhance and enrich the professional experience.

In addition to the attractive scientific programme, the Convention Center (new building of the Slovak National Theater connected to the Sheraton hotel) will offer an attractive space for Exhibition and side meetings of EUROTOX members, affiliated societies, sub-committees and other scientific groups and thus will aim into strengthening professional relationships and networking activities.

Just take a few steps away from the Convention Center to find yourself in the heart of Bratislava – a safe, flourishing and prosperous town located on the Danube River. The city is easily accessible via international airports located in Bratislava and Vienna. Did you know that these two cities are the closest capitals in the world, separated by only 66 kilometers? We welcome you to discover more about Bratislava and its friendly atmosphere, musical traditions, crowning-town history and excellent food and wines. Find for yourself that this town is a well-kept secret among people who are looking for something genuine and pleasant.

Various levels of involvement are outlined in this prospectus which has been designed for maximum visibility, promotion of your services and products, and efficient communication with current and new partners. If there are other ways in which you would like to participate, we would be very happy to discuss these with you.

Let’s meet in in Bratislava in 2017 – your presence will be a key part in the meeting’s success.

Best Regards

ABOUT EUROTOX CONGRESS

CONNECTING FOR A SAFER FUTURE, 53rd Congress of the European Society of Toxicology

Together with the Local Organising Committee, the Slovak Toxicology Society organise the 53rd Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology to be held in Bratislava, September 10–13, 2017.

The Scientific Programme Committee is preparing an exciting programme in a unique atmosphere to create a forum of scientists for discussions and exchange of knowledge. The attractive congress venue – new building of the Slovak National Theatre – will offer the space for exhibition and side meetings of EUROTOX members, affiliated societies, sub-committees and other scientific groups and thus will aim into strengthening professional relationships and networking activities.

ABOUT THE ORGANISERS

EUROTOX is the Federation of national societies of toxicology in Europe, which together have approximately 7,000 members. In addition, EUROTOX counts more than 200 individual members who come from 50 countries, mostly from Western Europe.

Historically, EUROTOX has its roots in the European Society for the Study of Drug Toxicity, which was founded in 1962 in Zürich. As the Society’s interests started to extend into toxicology areas other than drug toxicology, it was decided to change the name into European Society of Toxicology (EST). This was done at the scientific meeting in 1974 in Carlsbad. In the late seventies and early eighties national toxicology societies grew rapidly, both in number and in membership. Thus 14 national societies of toxicology and EST decided to found the Federation of European Societies of Toxicology (FEST), which was done at the EST congress in Kuopio, 1985.

As this soon turned out to create unnecessary duplications, EST changed its Statutes, adopted the name EUROTOX, and EST and FEST merged at the 5th IUTOX Congress in Brighton, 1989. In the years thereafter EUROTOX grew steadily. EUROTOX aims to foster toxicology, both scientifically and educationally, in all countries of Europe. EUROTOX is actively harmonising toxicology education and training, having established the European Register of Toxicologists in 1994.

The Slovak Toxicology Society (further only SETOX) is a body corporate and civil association in the sense of Law No. 83/1990, Body of Laws on public corporation, associating professionals in the field of toxicology. SETOX was established in 2006 by splitting from the Slovak Medical Society.

The main goal of the Society is supporting research and development in the field of toxicology. SETOX is active in cooperation and exchange of information between SETOX and international professional organizations. Furthermore, SETOX encourages and proposes toxicological projects of research and development.
