Applying to College

• Pick your schools

• What do you need for the application?

• Send your SAT/ACT scores to the colleges you are applying to

• Do you NEED a letter of recommendation?

• Teacher: Complete a teacher letter of rec packet

• Counselor: Complete a counselor letter of rec packet

• Must provide 2-3 weeks for your teacher/counselor to write your letter

• Look at deadlines!

• Pay attention to application type

Look for local volunteer opportunities, jobs

12th Grade HSBP Activity Directions

1. Log into Career Cruising

- Open Firefox or Chrome

- Open PowerLearning

- Click on Apps button on top, right hand side of page, Career Cruising

2. In the MY PROGRESS box, click on INCOMPLETE to see list of activity components to complete

3. Begin with Post Secondary Plan. There are three sections to the Post Secondary Plan: Career Goals, Educational Goals, and Financial Plans.

Please complete all three. Don’t forget to Reflect and Confirm.

4. After the Post Secondary Plan is complete, navigate above My Plan, click on Build My Resume

5. You may have some information already entered in: - Career Objectives- Education History- Work Experience- Volunteer Experience- Awards & Certificates. If you do not already have these fields completed, please complete them now.

6. Please complete the following fields: -Extracurricular Activities -Hobbies & Interests -Skills & Abilities

7. Once all fields have been filled, you can click Format and Print. You then have the option to print your resume if you would like.

8. Click on the Career Cruising logo at the top left side of the page.

9. You progress under Complete should be 80%. If you are at 80%, you are done for now! If you are not at 80%, click on Incomplete or Reflect and Confirm to finish was is left.

10. Next step: Individual meeting with your counselor to complete your HSBP Annual Review and discuss other post high school questions.
