Congratulations Dr. McGinnis!

Eliza McWilliam’s Dissertation Defense

Feature//////////////////////

Eliza McWilliams, an Ed.D. student, received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University during the doctoral commencement ceremony in May. McWilliams is a retired teacher from Warren, who had spent 39 years teaching in Detroit Public Schools. Eliza’s dissertation was about her experiences working in early childhood education, it’s titled; “Male Teachers in Early Childhood Education”.

Eliza’s dissertation committee was made up of Dr. Mark Deschaine, Dr. Edward Greene, and Dr. Barbra Klocko. Barb Klocko, as the chair of Eliza’s dissertation committee, was chosen because she stood out to McWilliams. Klocko’s “blunt, yet constructive” approach to her students and the chemistry between the two is what made McWilliams want her as her committee chair. McWilliam’s overcame significant health challenges to be able to finish her degree and Dr. Klocko encouraged her through it.

Joining Eliza and her committee to celebrate this milestone accomplishment are CMU’s President Dr. Robert Davies, representatives of the Department of Educational Leadership and fellow Ed.D. students.

Congratulations Dr. McWilliams!!

EDL Faculty/////////////////Saying Goodbye

Losing members of the team…

It’s with mixed emotions and heavy hearts that Educational Leadership says goodbye to two of our valued faculty members. Mark Deschaine and Ethan Kolek will be moving on to new institutions in the fall and we would like to recognize their significant contributions to our programs.

Please join us in thanking Dr. Deschaine and Dr. Kolek for their gift of talents these past few years. It’s been a pleasure and honor to work with such fine individuals. We have been better because of you and your absence will be sorely missed.

We wish you both continued success in your future positions and at your prestigious institutions. Please keep in touch and let us know how your careers progress.

Although you will be leaving the CMU family, you’ll still be part of the greater Educational Leadership family. Good luck and godspeed!

…but gaining national partners in education.
