City Attractions

Located in the heart of the Midwest, Indianapolis is the capital of Indiana. Indy is the 12th largest city in the country, with almost one million residents in the metropolitan area. Nicknamed the “Crossroads of America,” the city is the intersection of four interstates and six U.S. highways, which

provides convenient travel from anywhere in the country.

The city hosted Super Bowl XLVI in 2012 and the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament in 2015 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Home to the NCAA headquarters, Indianapolis brings in thousands of athletes from across the country. The city also is known for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which hosts the largest single-day sporting event, the Indy 500®. The growing downtown area is a great place to live, work and visit, with many major businesses and three Fortune 500 companies.

Indianapolis has grown exponentially since its founding in 1821, and has become a place for hard-working Hoosiers and an influx of young professionals from around the country. Forbes magazine named Indianapolis the eighth best place in the country for jobs and businesses.

At the heart of downtown stands Monument Circle, which offers a Civil War museum and lookout tower with a view of the city. Because of its prominence, Monument Circle is outlined in the Conference logo, surrounded by the checkered flag that symbolizes the Indy 500®.

Along with the opportunities listed above, make sure to check out: • The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis• Mass Ave Arts District• Fountain Square• Indianapolis Museum of Art• Circle Centre
