Core Function: Dimension A - Instructional Excellence and AlignmentEffective Practice: High expectations for all staff and students

KEY A1.07 ALL teachers employ effective classroom management and reinforce classroom rules and procedures by positively teaching them.(5088)

Implementation Status Assigned To Target Date

Initial Assessment: Positive staff, student, and community relationships continue to grow. Each year there are fewer staff changes, and we now have teachers in both the traditional and immersion programs returning each year. We are also working as a staff to grow professionally in both academic and SEL understanding and application.

Limited Development 07/30/2017

How it will lookwhen fully met:

In 2019 -2020 we will meet weekly in grade level PLC's to analyze student data and work in teams to address student needs and next steps. Staff will be trained in more effective strategies to address both remediation skills and enrichment skills. We currently have thirty-five GCS-AG qualified teachers and four teacher assistants. These teachers serve students in both programs. All staff were trained in the Trauma First Aid in the Classroom program through our GCS mental health services department during the August workdays. Our data will be based on higher proficiency rates and reduced discipline concerns.

Actions 0 of 1 (0%)8/10/17 We will be using actions addressed in Indicator 4.06 to address needs

that will in turn create better classroom and whole school behavior management.

KEY A2.04 Instructional Teams develop standards-aligned units of instruction for each subject and grade level.(5094)

Implementation Status Assigned To Target Date

Initial Assessment: K-5 Teachers in our Traditional and Spanish Immersion programs will continue to plan on Tuesdays for ELA and Thursdays for Math. These meetings take place afterschool in the media center, and all grade levels meet in the same area. We meet as an entire staff so that all grade levels have access to Impact Teachers, Curriculum Facilitator, and Administration. We have also found this to be an effective means of cross grade level sharing and support.

Limited Development 08/27/2016

How it will lookwhen fully met:

When fully implemented grade level planning will be consistent and effective. Growth and proficiency scores will continue to rise while discipline concerns will continue to decrease. We will use ongoing common assessments , GCS Interim Assessments, and the Educators Handbook program to gauge success.

Notes: As of November 4, 2016 the administrative team is conducting NCEES evaluations with staff members. Evaluation feedback is provided during post observation conferences. Administrative walkthroughs are being done, but we still need to improve on our written feedback to teachers for these informal walkthroughs. This task will be measured monthly by the leadership team.

Notes: These coaching sessions will be evaluated and reviewed quarterly from September 1st - October 30th 2016. Beginning in November of 2016 we will monitor progress monthly.

As of Nov 7th, CFs have reported information gather during the coaching sessions in the month of September and October. Based on the coaching visits, we identified what our accomplished teachers are implementing in their classroom that makes the successful. Based on this information, we created a walk through form to provide teachers with a clear model to be follow in an effort to have best practices in place in the following areas:

1. Classroom Management 2. Content Knowledge 3. Gradual Release Model of Instruction4. Differentiated Instruction and Student Engagement

11/7/16 Curriculum Facilitators will conduct walkthroughs and coaching lessons with teachers based on individual needs. (Feedback Provided. Progress towards this goal will be updated monthly with the leadership team.

Notes: Curriculum Facilitators continue to schedule modeled coaching lessons with staff, based on walkthroughs or feedback from teachers. Teachers are becoming more comfortable with the coaching model and see it as a positive opportunity for support, as opposed to a "gotcha". The same holds true in the early stages of our new walkthrough document.

11/7/16 The administrative team will continue conducting NCEES evaluations with staff members. Evaluation feedback is provided during post observation conferences. Administrative walkthroughs are being done, but the team will create and utilize a walkthrough guide that addresses specific classroom criteria for Jones. This task will be measured monthly by the leadership team.

Notes: Administrative team is on schedule for NCEES evaluations. All first round observations have been completed. Jones walkthrough guide was developed and explained to staff on November 29th, 2016. Team walkthroughs (Principal, Assistant Principal and both Curriculum Facilitators) began in December to calibrate our document. Each member of the walkthrough team is now doing 4-5 walkthroughs a week and providing feedback on the walk through document to staff for their review. It has already provided us with opportunities to discuss areas of strength and needed improvement with teachers.

7/30/17 In 2017-2018 teachers will stop using the color chart discipline system. Some teachers currently use it as a home/school communication system for daily/weekly updates. Some of our teachers are using Class Dojo with great success. Administration will encourage teachers to adopt Class Dojo to communicate daily and weekly events with parents concerning their children, while maintaining the privacy of the child in the classroom setting. Teachers may choose another method of communication with parents that effectively and maintains the child's privacy in the classroom setting. These systems must be approved by administration. SBLT and Administration will review progress of this task on a quarterly basis.
