6. Abstract of the project: CompNetwork is a very important feature used in e-commerce to assist people making

purchases computers and computer’s accessories online.

CompNetwork feature allows online shopping customers to "place" items in the cart. Upon "checkout" the

software calculates a total for the order including shipping and handling (i.e. postage and packing) and taxes, if applicable.

We are looking at creating a shopping cart program which can be integrated into any e-commerce website

easily. We will be implementing a fully functional shopping cart.

The software is fully integrated with CMS (Content Management System) solution and developed in a manner

that is easily manageable, time saving and relieving one from manual works.

The important roles associated with the portal would be:

Administrator

Users

Reports

Administrator: Administrator will have complete control of the system. She/he cans Add/Edit/Delete products, Generate reports, Search for products.

Users: Register, Search for products, Add products to the cart etc

Reports: The following reports can be generated. You can implement more reports, which you think can be useful.

Shopping trends Items ordered on a given date or date range

7. Functional components of the project: The following are the Functional components required in this software.

Registration (for new users) and Login (Existing users) Edit user profile such as address, contact information and password Add/Edit/Delete products with details of the product. View Products by product category Search products by price range and/or category Select products and add them to cart. Update the product quantities in the cart View cart contents. Checkout the cart contents for order processing Contact the Shopping site administrator (send email) Learn about the Shopping site company details, phone, fax, etc.
