Working Together on OurSchool Systems Review

Suggested Approach from the SSR Process Guide

Step 1

.

Read the Guiding Question (for an Indicator) in the School Improvement Framework Overview.

Discuss the Guiding Question and record your evidence for how your school is addressing the Guiding Question on the Dialogue Recording Form.(Found in the Process Guide)

Step 2

DialogueRecording Form from Step 2

If working in small teams, you may wish to write notes on chart paper, for ease of sharing with other teams.

Starting Point

Now turn to the corresponding Indicator in the School Systems Review. Begin by reading the “Full Implementation”

column. Mark the box for each characteristic for which your school has identified evidence (from dialogue about the Guiding Questions).

Step 3

Step 3 (continued)

Read the Sample Evidence listed on the School Systems Review for the Indicator. Check off any evidence listed that you identified and add additional evidence you identified that is not already listed.

Step 3 (continued) Engage in dialogue about which implementation level to select based on evidence. Using evidence that was identified and the characteristics on the School Systems Review, place your school on the continuum for each Indicator.

Step 3 (continued)

On the Dialogue Recording Form, make notes of key points of discussion that occurs while placing your school on the continuum. These notes will be useful in the school improvement planning process. Go back to the dialogue recording form to make note of key points of discussion

Group Work/Discussion

• We’re going to divide into small groups.

• Each group needs a facilitator, recorder, and time-keeper.

Small Group Work Time

Share Across Teams and Reach Consensus

• If working in small teams, do a Gallery Walk* so that teams can discuss each other’s evidence and ratings.

*One person from each group stays with the chart paper to explain it to other groups. The rest of the group members travel to all the other charts.

• Teams add to the evidence as needed.• As a whole group, reach consensus on the rating for each Indicator.

Wrap Up and Next Steps

• Any comments or an “Aha!” you would like to share with the whole group?
