Royal Flying Doctor Service

On Monday the 26th of June all of 3/4N went down to the oval. We went in the Royal flying Doctor simulator. The

people that came to our school were Tom and Stewart. First the grade 3s went in the simulator and the grade 4s did

the virtual reality goggles. I got scared because you could see the person who was injured. Then the grade 4s went in

the simulator. I was a nurse then I was a pilot then a

patient. It was a really fun day. I hope we do it again next

year. I learnt that they save 1 person every 2 minutes. The

plane that came to our school was called Ray Conway. It

was really fun in the plane with all the medical

equipment. There were also sticks to tell people where to

land. The lady in the virtual reality had died twice. In the

inland parts of Australia there is a first aid box and instead

of reading the name of the medicine it is numbered so it is

easier to find. I got to hold a tray out of the first aid kit.

We were the last grade to go to it.

Harper-Jane Steele 3/4N

Royal Flying Doctor Service On Monday the 26

th of June the Royal Flying Doctors came to school to teach us about the doctors that are in the

RFDS. Tom and Stewart came to tell us about the service. The virtual reality goggles told us a story about a lady who

was vomiting blood.

We were split into 3 groups there were the grade 4s in one group and the grade 3s in another. My group got to use

the virtual reality first and it was really fun. We also got to see some sand in a bottle that came from the middle of

Australia so it was special sand.

The sand was Tom’s sand. The sand came from Ray Conway. He is a special RFDS person he has been there for 25

years and he went for a holiday. Ray missed Tom because they were good friends. The plane’s name is Ray Conway

and that’s how special he is to the RFDS. The colours of the sand are red white gold black and a bit of pink in it.

The next thing we did was we went in the simulator and got to see what’s inside the simulator. We got to pretend

that someone was sick and we had to look after them. There were also two pilot seats but we didn’t get to see what

the screen looked like because someone pressed the button to turn it off.

They showed us a medical kit and instead of having words all over the medicine they have numbers so that if you

are feeling really sick you call the RFDS and they will tell you to get that number out of your medical kit.

Then we went back to the building and said goodbye to Tom and Stewart. I wish they could come back.

Royal Flying Doctor Service On the 26

th of June the Royal Flying Doctor Ser-

vice (RFDS) simulator came to our school for the

grade 3/4s to have a look at. We met up in room

3 where we met Tom and Stewart. They first

talked to us about how many people they save a

day. We also found out that they save someone

every two minutes. Next we got put into groups.

One of the groups went out to see the simulator

and the other group which I was in stayed in the

same room to have a shot of using the virtual real-

ity goggles. The virtual reality goggles were really

cool and I liked the video we saw.

The simulator had lots of cool things inside. We had turns of going in the pilot seat there was a screen in the pilot cabin

but someone had turned it off somehow so we didn’t get to use the screen. There were two headphones that were

online so the two could talk to each other. There was also a bed which we could lie down on. Next it was time for us

to go so before we left we took a photo and then headed inside. When we entered room 3 the other group were still

doing activities so we waited for them and when they finished we said goodbye and thankyou then headed back to

class.

Mindfulness & Yoga in the Grade 3/4 Area

The 3/4s have been stretching and relaxing their minds and bodies with yoga. Michelle from Yoga

101 has been teaching us . Here we are doing some poses! Eli says " When I do yoga I feel relaxed

and calm. My favourite yoga pose is the flower because it makes me focused for other things." Will

says " I like when I do the tree pose because it can be very helpful for football."
