Peter O’Keefe and Danny Scanlon formed the company in 1985 having worked together at Wheelers of Ealing and before that at Diamond Redfern & Partners. Julian Bohling and Paul Dallain joined the company in 1994 and 1997 respectively, later becoming directors. Graham Bicknell joined the company in 2005 and Clinton Bradshaw in 2006 and both have recently joined our Board of Directors in 2010. Peter has recently retired from the company after 27 years of being a director, but is still a consultant.

His recent projects include a 25,000 sq ft house on the Wentworth Estate and a housing development in Surbiton.
Clinton is a Chartered Architect with over 15 years of experience. He is responsible for developing the creative and presentation side of the company, which includes design proposals, compiling Design & Access Statements and the preparation of banners and boards for public exhibitions. His recent projects include a Thames Gateway development in Dartford and a housing development near Chichester.
Currently, we employ a well qualified and experienced team of architects, designers and administration staff who are able to provide a full architectural service for your project from inception through to construction. In addition to our primary skills in architecture, we can also offer space planning, interior design and landscape design. We pride ourselves on (and have many awards for) building conservation and refurbishment, sensitive and innovative residential design, building strong relationships with planning authorities and the presentation of our work.
OSP Architecture can provide a full architectural service from inception to completion. However, we can also provide services for separate parts of the design process from concept bid documents and public presentation events through to detailed design documents and working drawings packages.

The example elevations shown at the previous public exhibition were indicative of the houses which could have been used on the scheme. The proposals have been further developed over the past 6 months resulting in an Arts & Crafts character and appearance to the houses and apartments. We believe this traditional style of architecture is appropriate for the site and will be in-keeping with that of the existing surrounding context.
CALA is passionate about creating vibrant and sustainable communities, ensuring its developments become part
of the communities in which they are built. CALA is committed to providing individually designed high quality homes that are respectful of the local environment, with contemporary internal home comforts.

All Saints’ Hospital, EastbourneBerkeley Homes (Southern) Ltd Residential · Conservation
The former hospital and chapel was designed by the ‘gentleman’ architect Henry Woodyer in the Victorian Gothic style. Located in Meads Village just to the west of Eastbourne towards Beachy Head, the apartments offer luxury accommodation set in landscaped grounds with views towards the South Downs and over the English Channel. In addition to the careful restoration of the hospital and chapel, a further three newly built apartment buildings were created: St Emmanuel, St Gabriel and St Saviour Houses.

Designed by Clough Williams-Ellis, the Princess Christian’s Farm Colony was home to “25 feeble minded boys” accommodated in a building with circular towers and conical roofs typical of oast houses in the Weald of Kent. The Grade II listed building was under threat, but was carefully restored as part of a residential development within the grounds.
The new build houses and apartments follow the same traditional character of typical Weald houses, creating a distinctive scheme which respects the restored former hospital buildings and the surrounding area.

St Mary’s Island, Chatham MaritimeCountryside Properties Residential
The Royal Dockyard at Chatham closed in 1984, ending over 500 years of shipbuilding and repair for the Royal Navy. However, in a joint venture between Countryside Properties and SEEDA the area is being redeveloped.
The distinctive butterfly roofs, cedar boarding and coloured render walls of this new housing development add a spark to the regeneration of Chatham Maritime. With its enviable view across the River Medway and dynamic architecture of the development, St Marys Island has a vibrant future.
The dwellings have been built to ensure they are sustainable and have a minimal impact on the surrounding environment. The new houses and apartments have a ‘Very Good’ Eco Homes rating.
In addition to the River Medway and Chatham Maritime Marina, the Island incorporates over 20 acres of open space with footpaths and cycle paths linking to the wider community. There is also a community centre, doctors’ surgery and a primary school located on the Island.

Development of 1,250 dwellings
Set in a redundant quarry adjacent to the Medway town of Snodland, Holborough is a unique development site of 1,250 dwellings set amongst attractive landscaping and water features. The Masterplan for the site is divided into 12 separate phases with their own distinct character and identity, but still respecting the traditional Kent vernacular.
The first phases have been built in a ‘New England’ style in various colours of weatherboarding. The entrance ‘Boulevard’ leads past a linear form of apartments either side of a tree lined avenue to the rest of the development. Later phases include contemporary lakeside apartments, a convenience store, gym and further dwellings to complete the transition to the Kent vernacular.

The development enjoys an excellent location on the southern edge of Burgess Hill with views towards the South Downs National Park, yet only a short distance from the town centre with its excellent railway links to London, Gatwick or Brighton. Following on from previously refused schemes by other developers, OSP successfully designed an improved scheme of 77 dwellings arranged around a new public open space. The design and style of the dwellings was also reconsidered to better reflect neighbouring properties and the local vernacular.

After periodic use in the early nineteenth century, the Royal Artillery at Woolwich established a permanent practice and testing station on an isolated site at Shoeburyness in the 1850s. The site has recently been redeveloped, but still retains many Listed Buildings which have been converted into various uses. OSP Architecture were involved with later phases of the development including the renovation of dilapidated buildings, the rebuilding of former artillery stores, a scheme for a heritage visitor centre and the final phase of housing.

Due to the steeply sloping site, each of the 9 detached houses was individually designed with some having split level accommodation allowing first floor access to the rear gardens. The existing mature trees along the boundaries were considered to contribute to the character of the surrounding area and were retained, thus reducing the developable area of the site, but providing a distinctive backdrop to the new development. In addition, ecology areas were provided for the benefit of bats and badgers.
