Preface

In this recent decade, geophysics comes with big advance in technology to overcome the

challenge of the high exploration risk. Many researches have been done; many methods have

been applied, many strategies of exploration have been thought, but yet the new challenge is still

always emerge.

Nothing of those efforts will absolutely work in every situation. There is always a

restriction of every new technology that revealed. As a result, if we dont understand this

uncertainty, there are a lot of pitfalls waiting for. Yet there are many weakness, geophysics have

proved itself as a worthy consideration in making an important decision of exploration.

Students are the next generation of exploration geophysicist that play an important role to

continue the effort of their former to overcome the challenge in the future. As geophysics

students we do believe that any insight of the latest development and the role of geophysics in

industry will be worthy as a provision when we are starting to work in industry; breaking a gap

between

university and industry.

Therefore, we are proposing an activity that can accommodate the need tells above,

Objectives

The main objective of this activity is to understand the application of geophysical method

and also knowing the role of geophysics in industry especially in oil and gas industry.

Proposed Activity

The activity that has a theme Application of Geophysics Method and the Role of Geophysics in

Industry will be held with the agenda like described below:

09.00-11.00 Introducing company profile, division and the job description for 1 every

division.

11.00-12.00 Answer and Question

12.00-13.00 Taking a rest and have a lunch.13.00-15.00 Geophysics application in the field and closing ceremony.

Closing Statement

The proposed activity have many advantages, such as breaking a gap between industry

and the university, students who attend this company visit are expected to understand the

application of geophysical methods in real situation in industry, especially in oil and gas industry.

Therefore, they can prepare themselves to facing the challenge when they are working in the
