Women’s Bible StudyBe Comforted: A Study of the Book of Isaiah Wednesdays, now-April 10, 1-2PM in E105. Isaiah is some-times referred to as a miniature Bible with regard to itsstructure. It has 66 chapters just as the Bible has 66books. There are two divisions within Isaiah—39 chaptersin the first and 27 chapters in the second. It is said thatthe prophet Isaiah is quoted in the New Testament morethan all other prophets combined. Why is this? Could it bebecause Isaiah identifies God as sovereign over creationand history, as holy, as judge and redeemer? Could it bebecause he writes of a servant through whom God’s redemp-tion will come? Could it be because he envisions the hopeof God’s people in a world that needed God’s message—both then and now? Let’s explore and discover what agelesstruths are available for our faithful living today. Led by TerriCoe, St. Luke’s Director of Adult Ministries.

March at The TrackMarch’s virtue is HONESTY. Honesty is important because it builds trust. Honesty is choosing to betruthful in whatever you say and do. What God says is true; He has shown us that time and timeagain. And that’s one of the reasons we know we can trust God. The monthly memory verse is: “Anhonest person has respect for the Lord.” (PROVERBS 14:2a, NIV). Living a life of honesty shows thatwe respect God and the people we care about. We can find a way to be truthful and still careful ofthe feelings of those we care about.

February at the Mini-TrackWhen you think of the amazing gift God gave us, you just have to say, “Wow!” That’s what we want forour preschoolers this month. We want them to say, “Wow!” We want them to be wowed by the miraclesthat Jesus performed while he lived among us. We want them to be wowed by the awesomeness ofhis power. We want them to be wowed by his entrance into Jerusalem, and we want them to be wowedby the fact that he came alive on Easter day. Preschoolers will be learning “Jesus wants to be myfriend forever.” Their memory verse is “I am with you always.” (MATTHEW 28:20)

CHILDREN’S MINISTRIESThe Track’s vision is to help children discover God’s love, celebrate families, live out the teachings of Jesus every day and share God’s love with others.

Thielen begins his book entitled What’s theLeast I Can Believe and Still Be Christian by identifyingthings we need not believe. He concludes the book with tenthings he believes we need to understand about Jesus—hisidentity, priority, work, example, death, resurrection, legacy, and vision for the world. Thielen notes that a great benefit ofthese beliefs about Jesus is that they provide promising answers to some of life’s questions. The book may be pur-chased in the Oasis Bookstore. Commission on Children’s Ministries COCM is a group of individuals, diverse in age and talents, who support the Children’s Department by coordinating andorganizing four-six major events throughout the year thatserve and celebrate the children of St. Luke’s and their fam-ilies. The commission meets monthly to plan and prepare forupcoming events and also fellowship with each other andmembers of the Children’s Ministries team. If you’re lookingfor a way to support Children’s Ministries outside of Sundaymorning, we invite you to consider joining this commissionin 2013! For more information, please contact Amy Myhandat [email protected]

Check-In SystemWe are now utilizing a computerized check-in system (Check-Point) in Children's Ministries. Parents should register theirchildren in this system in The Track area (East Passage). There are computer kiosks located across from the pagerdesk in The Track, and staff available to assist you. Onceregistered, the printer will produce a name badge for eachchild as well as a corresponding badge for the parent to usewhen picking up their child(ren). Parents who are missingtheir name badges will only be allowed to pick up their chil-dren by obtaining permission of the children's ministry staff.Volunteers will not release a child without a badge. TheCheckPoint system will provide a greater level of organizationduring the check-in procedure, improvement in attendancedata, and an increase in the efficiency of our overall admin-istration. But most importantly, the automated system willheighten the overall security of children's ministry and in-crease parental confidence that each child is as safe as pos-sible while within the walls of St. Luke's UMC.
