Communications Support Processor

Secure classified messaging for sensitive compartmented informationand collateral record message traffic.

ecure communications areessential for modern militaryand government operations,

which send and receive tens of thou-sands of classified messages daily.Processing these messages reliablyand effectively is a huge, complexchallenge – one that NorthropGrumman has met since 1978 as the developer of the CommunicationsSupport Processor (CSP).

Assures Secure MessagingWorldwide

A secure, automated message pro-cessing system, the CSP handles SCIand collateral classified record mes-sage traffic for the U.S. armed forces, federal agencies and the NationalDefence Headquarters of Canada.CSP has been DISA-certified andDIA-accredited for federal operationsfor more than 20 years.

CSP handles message switching andsecurity checks for communicationswithin the Department of DefenseIntelligence Information System(DoDIIS) AUTODIN Bypass System(DABS), Nuclear Command Controland Communications (NC3) HybridSolution, National Gateway Center(NGC) and other systems.

Garrison, mobile and tactical CSPsprovide connectivity with a widevariety of intelligence and field-level systems – and simultaneouslyprocess Defense Special SecurityCommunications System (DSSCS)and General Service (GENSER) message traffic. CSP segregates message traffic from the top-secretSCI level to collateral secret, providing complete multi-level secure message distributionoperations.

No Lost Messages – Ever

CSP has never lost or interlaced amessage, making it a prime choicewhen failure is not an option. With its scalable architecture, CSP satisfiesthe processing requirements of thelargest communications centers or the smallest tactical enclave – andhas been benchmarked at more than90,000 messages daily. CSP can beconfigured from a common suite of equipment to communicate with a variety of radios, cryptos and various external network and serialconnections.

Supporting Critical Systems

The DABS architecture consists primarily of CSP nodes that feedother tributary CSP nodes. Together, these CSP systems create a securelarge-volume message network thatoperates on the Joint WorldwideIntelligence Communications System(JWICS). Every CSP uses TripleDES encryption to ensure the highestlevel of security for messages com-municated over the JWICS WAN.

Working in conjunction with theCSP-to-DMS Addressing Component(CDAC), CSP also provides a fullyoperational messaging platform fortransitioning to the Defense MessageSystem (DMS). Able to convert

between DMS X.400 messages and legacy format messages, theCSP/CDAC solution ensures a low-risk migration path from legacymessaging to DMS interoperability.

Protecting Sensitive Information

Northrop Grumman has driven theevolution of CSP for decades. Today, this same technology is the founda-tion of the company’s family ofsecure messaging solutions, whichserve defense and intelligence opera-tions from headquarters and com-mand centers to units in the field.Their wide acceptance is typical ofNorthrop Grumman’s long history of success in supporting the require-ments of America’s secure militaryand intelligence networks.
