Celebrating Community
Over the past week we have celebrated family, our student artistic talents and our cultural diversity. Friday afternoon we welcomed many father figures into the classrooms in recognition of Father’s Day - fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, step fathers, foster fathers and mothers joined their children at school. Students designed, created, interacted and engaged with their family members in doing a wide range of activities.

PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
Yesterday we valued our cultural diversity during our second RESP community afternoon tea where we shared the topic of EDUCATION with our Families who speak Punjabi. Our students baked with Mrs Whittle during the day to provide a traditional afternoon tea - scones, pikelets and biscuits. We were delighted to be joined by over one hundred family members in recognising, showcasing and celebrating our students’ abilities in the Visual and Performing Arts. The display of our students’ Art work down our main corridor created by Mrs Carlin was colourful and creative. The musical performances, choreographed by Mrs Shelley, demonstrated the singing and musical talents of our students. Thank you to our teachers, our families and our students for making our school such a welcoming, wonderful community.

Community News!
School Grounds
Last week our Maintenance man, Colin, spent some time working with our student Environmental Group to improve the garden area at the front of school. This now looks amazing, and as the plants grow the front of our school will look much more appealing.
Thank you Colin for all of your hard work - the students are having a great time working on these projects to improve our school. I wonder what other plans they have in store !!
Student Uniforms
Do you have any school uniform items at home that you no longer need? Please consider donating them to the school. Winter has depleted our supply of spare uniform items in sick bay! We are also hoping to run a second hand stall at the Community breakfast at the end of the term—so all donations will be gratefully accepted!

From the EAL/ Language Support Room We always smile as we learn in the EAL Room! From camping in
the classroom by making a tent from sheets, to baking yummy
goodies for an afternoon tea. We read, we write, we speak and
expand our vocabulary through everything we do. Most
importantly – we build our confidence, we help each other and
YES….. WE HAVE FUN!!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Wednesday 11th of September the Senior Learning Community are holding a school carnival for the students during school hours from 12:00 to 1pm.
While at the carnival, students will be able to participate in many different activities including Lucky Envelope, Mystery Jelly Box, Wet Sponge and various sporting activities.
To support the carnival we are asking all students to donate a bag of individually wrapped chocolates or lollies to go towards the prizes that students can win. For each packet/bag donated, students will get a raffle ticket to win one of the many fantastic prizes that have been donated from our local community.
We are also accepting any other donations to be used as raffle prizes and would greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer.
Could all donations please be in no later than Friday 6th September.
Proceeds from the day support Grade 6 Graduation.
Thank you for your support.
