With warm sun in the summer and snow in the winter, you can find adventure here in the great outdoors all year round.
AnimpressivecampusAt UMaine, we’re all about providing you with the best work/life balance. You’ll find a vibrant and extremely relaxed environment in an inspiring setting. SpacetodreamanddiscoverKnown as ‘vacation land’, Maine is bursting with natural beauty. From the tall pine forests and tranquil lakes to the airy summits of the Appalachian Trail on Mount Katahdin and the rugged coastline, it’s a jewel in New England’s crown. No surprise, it’s a leading destination for outdoor enthusiasts. For students interested in forestry, wildlife ecology, agriculture, life sciences, and environmental sciences, Maine offers 15,000 acres of living laboratory for education and research.

“I believe that some people are anxious about moving into a culture that is foreign to them. That’s where I believe that UMaine can make the difference. Most students spend eight months at the ISC.
Pre-Master’sProgram(PMP)This short program combines English for academic purposes, study skills for graduate-level coursework and orientation into the U.S. university system leading to 15 graduate degree programs. Additionally, PMP students take academic, pre-requisite courses that are relevant to their area of study, while earning undergraduate level credit for these courses.
EnglishforAcademicPurposes(EAP)In addition to your academic courses, as an ISC student, you’ll join our renowned EAP course.
DirectentryIf you meet the appropriate language and academic requirements of UMaine, you’ll be eligible to apply for direct entry to any degree program. Rest assured, the ISC is here to help you with your application. The minimum entry requirements for direct admission:
Undergraduate programs TOEFL 79 or IELTS 6.5 / US GPA 2.75+

As a student in this one- or two-semester program, you’ll combine English for academic purposes, study skills for graduate level coursework and orientation into the U.S. university system. You’ll also take academic, pre-requisite courses that are relevant to your area of study. Students receive undergraduate credit for these courses. Additionally, GRE/GMAT preparation lessons are available to all PMP students at no additional cost.
Graduate students who meet the appropriate language and academic requirements can apply for Direct Entry to any graduate program offered at UMaine. The ISC will be able to help you with your application.
GMAT/GREscoresWhile GMAT/GRE scores are not a pre-requisite of any of our PMPs, we strongly encourage you to obtain them. Official scores will be required prior to full matriculation into a degree program. For the MBA, we’re looking for a minimum score of GMAT 550.
SIMPLE ADMISSIONS PROCESSNo external credit evaluation reports are required for PMP applicants.
All students need to do is provide certified copies for all years of undergraduate study in native language and translated into English.
