That sums up what my next couple of months is looking like. For me the two are intimately tied together. Later in May our youngest son will graduate from High School. In March our oldest daughter turned 30. Sometime this summer one of my best friends will move away. Another dear friend is gone for an extended period. There is nothing unusual about these transitions. But taken all together they are vivid reminders that life is moving on and that nothing stays the same. There are those times when we try to slow time down. Vacations are those times when we try to step out of flow of life and slow things down a little. I’m taking a golf trip with my friend who is moving. In June my two sons, father, and I will go fishing in Canada. In July my wife and I will be going to Seattle to visit my sister and her husband. Life moves on, but vacations allow us to break with time consuming routines and to live in the moment with people we love. As our lives move on, and all of the transitions of life remind us that it is, we need opportunities to reconnect with what is important…vacations. The best things in life are not things, the best things are people. We will never regret the time we spend with those we love. Our daily living can get in the way of spending time with people. Vacations allow us the time to focus on what is most important. The transitions of life will keep coming. There is no slowing the train down. So make the most of life’s little vacations to focus on the most important things - PEOPLE - in your life. God has placed some marvelous people in your life. Spend some time with them. Maybe it’s an afternoon. Maybe it’s a week. Maybe more. You will never, ever look back on your life and regret the time spent with loved ones. In fact, those will be thoughts and memories that will sustain you as life moves steadily on. So do me a favor. Do two things. First, give thanks to God for the wonderful people in your life. Transitions and vacations. That

sums up what my next couple of

months is looking like. For me the

two are intimately tied together.

Later in May our youngest son will

graduate from High School. In

March our oldest daughter turned 30.

Sometime this summer one of my

best friends will move away. Another

dear friend is gone for an extended

period. There is nothing unusual

about these transitions. But taken

all together they are vivid reminders

that life is moving on and that

nothing stays the same.

There are those times when we try

to slow time down. Vacations are

those times when we try to step out

of flow of life and slow things down a

little. I’m taking a golf trip with my

friend who is moving. In June my

two sons, father, and I will go fishing

in Canada. In July my wife and I

will be going to Seattle to visit my

sister and her husband. Life moves

on, but vacations allow us to break

with time consuming routines and to

live in the moment with people we

love.

As our lives move on, and all of the

transitions of life remind us that it is,

we need opportunities to reconnect

with what is important…vacations.

The best things in life are not things,

the best things are people. We will

never regret the time we spend with

those we love. Our daily living can

get in the way of spending time with

people. Vacations allow us the time

to focus on what is most important.
