The Yotes had a football program every season from 1905-77 (minus the 1917 season, due to World War I, and the 1943, 1944 and 1945 seasons due to World War II). The team was disbanded following the 1977 season, with the squad returning to the gridiron in 2014. AT SIMPLOT STADIUM: The Coyotes will be playing their 20th season at Simplot Stadium, beginning competition in 1964. C of I has an all-time record of 36-51-3, with the 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 teams four of the six teams (joining the 1968 and 1969 clubs) to post a .500 or better home record. The 2017 squad finished 4- 1 at home - the most wins by a Coyote team at Simplot Stadium in program history. SEASON OPENERS: The Yotes are 34-27-1 in season openers since 1942 - 11-15 in road openers and 23-12-1 at home, including nine-straight wins from 1962-70. C of I won their home openers in 2014 and 2015, coming at the heels of a seven-game losing skid from 1971-77 - while the squad won their last road opener, 35-34, at Pacific in 2014. Twice, the Coyotes have won six-straight opening games (1946-51 and 1959-64). YOTES PICKED TO WIN FRONTIER CONFERENCE: The C of I was favorite of both the coaches and the media, as the 2019 Frontier Conference Preseason Polls were released in late July at the annual Media Day celebration in Great Falls. The Yotes received of the eight first-place nods by the coaches and took five of the 15 first-place votes from the media members, outpointing Southern Oregon and Montana Western for the top spot. C of I has not won a conference title since 1955, the end of a streak of four-straight Northwest Conference crowns. HIGHEST RANKING EVER: After ending the 2018 season in the No. 22 spot in the AFCA NAIA Top-25 Poll, the Yotes climbed to No. 15 in the 2019 preseason tabulation – the highest-moving team in the poll. C of I is one of four Frontier Conference teams listed – joined by Southern Oregon at No. 20, Rocky Mountain at No. 23 and Montana Western at No. 25. WIN STREAK ON THE LINE: The Coyotes closed out the 2018 season on a six-game win streak, their longest run of victories in 65 years. It marks the sixth 6-game win streak, with the team winning seven-straight between the 1917-20 seasons and between the 1948-49 seasons; winning eight in a row between the 1934 and 1935 seasons; and a school-record 14-game win streak, closing 1952 with six-straight wins and opening 1953 with eight wins in a row. 10-GAME SCHEDULE: For the first time since football returned in 2014, C of I will not play a preseason game against an NCAA opponent – instead, playing only their 10-game Frontier Conference schedule. Over the last five seasons, the Coyotes have played two games vs. Pacific, and a single game against Willamette, Northern Colorado and Portland State. FOUR ALL-CONFERENCE PICKS RETURN: The Yotes will return four players who earned All-Frontier Conference honors at the conclusion of the 2018 season. Four-year starter, Josh Brown, returns at left tackle after earned first-team honors as a junior; four-year starting center, Ricky Bowman Jr., earned second-team honors; quarterback Darius-James Peterson earned second-team honors; with four-year starting linebacker, Forrest Rivers, earning second-team honors for a second-straight season. - more - 2019 SCHEDULE/RESULTS C OF I COACHING STAFF PRESEASON QUICK FACTS GAME DETAILS PROGRAM HISTORY FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Page 2: COLLEGE OF IDAHO2019 SCHEDULE/RESULTS GAME DETAILS …€¦ · their skill positions. Quarterback Kai Quinn (69 rush 187 yards 5 TD; 202-of-405 2,940 yards, 14 INT 15 TD) is a 3-year

C OF I OFFENSE VS. EASTERN OREGON DEFENSE: The question for all fans – which C of I offense will show up today and which Eastern defense will take the field. Last season – the Mountaineers limited the Yotes to just 295 yards of total offense in a win in La Grande, while C of I racked up a season-high 612 yards of total offense, including 360 yards passing, in a home victory. The Coyotes offense revolves around four-year starting quarterback Darius James Peterson (150 carries, 822 yards, 13 TD; 140-of-240 1,998 yards, 14 INT 18 TD), who has recorded six rushing touchdowns against Eastern in his career. Running backs Nick Calzaretta (131 carries, 509 yards, 2 TD) and Dominic Garzoli (63 carries, 341 yards, 4 TD; 19 rec. 171 yards, 2 TD) have had big games against EOU, while receivers Connor Richardson (47 rec. 619 yards, 8 TD) and Keegan Crafton (27 rec. 448 yards, 5 TD) each went over the 100-yard receiving mark in the second meeting with Eastern in 2018. EOU has a veteran defense – returning eight of their Top-10 tacklers from last season. The linebacker unit of Eli Teuteu (77 tackles, 9.5 TFL), Isaiah Cranford (75 tackles, 8 sacks) and Chase Van Wyck (49 tackles, 7.5 TFL) is among the best in the league, with all-conference defensive end Sage Delong (57 tackles, 8.5 sacks) and safety Zack Jacobs (53 tackles, 7 INT) returning. The Mounties allowed just 97 rushing yards a game last season (outside of the 295 yards C of I racked up in the October meeting). EASTERN OREGON DEFENSE VS. C OF I OFFENSE: Mountaineers head coach Tim Camp talked at Frontier Conference Media Day about a new-look, uptempo offense in 2019, as EOU must replace the bulk of their skill positions. Quarterback Kai Quinn (69 rush 187 yards 5 TD; 202-of-405 2,940 yards, 14 INT 15 TD) is a 3-year starter, but six of his top eight receivers from last season have moved on, including All-American Brenden Kelly. Running back Victor Dias (149 rush, 688 yards, 9 TD) will handle the bulk of the load in the run game, while tight end Connor Falk (23 rec. 151 yards 1 TD) is the top returning pass catcher. For the C of I defense, the Yotes must stop the pass – as Eastern averaged 375 yards through the air against them last season. Corners Tristen Alesi (53 tackles, 5 INT) and Isaiah Abdul (43 tackles, 11 PD), along with safety David Ford (77 tackles, 2 INT) will be key. The strength of the C of I defense is the front seven, as linebackers Forrest Rivers (61 tackles, 10 TFL) and Graham Carnahan (43 tackles, 9 TFL) return, along with end Danny Garcia (37 tackles, 7 sacks) and three senior defensive tackles. C OF I-EASTERN OREGON SPECIAL TEAMS: C of I returns both of their specialists from last season, as kicker Kyle Mitchell (43-of-45 PAT, 7-of-8 FG, long 45) is coming off a record-setting season, while punter Spencer Lambert (38.1 avg) averaged 40 yards a kick over his final five games. The Yotes must replace all-conference punt

returner Nik Lyons, but both Keenan Pattwell (20.6 avg) and Dominic Garzoli (15.5 avg) return in the kickoff return roles. Eastern will have a new punter and kicker, as All-American Nate Harden has graduated after making 15 field goal last year, with the Mounties returning top kick returner in Tanner Zenke (18.4 avg). RECAP OF LAST SEASON’S GAMES: In the August meeting in La Grande, a late C of I rally came up just short, as the Mountaineers hung on for a season opening 24-21 win - their first on the new turf at Community Stadium. A Kai Quinn touchdown run early in the fourth quarter gave EOU a 24-14 lead, but the Coyotes answered, as Levi Russo-Bell blocked a punt that Isaiah Abdul returned for a touchdown. C of I mounted a late drive, reaching the Eastern 40-yard line inside the final minute - but could not get into field goal range. Quinn passed for 326 yards and Victor Dias rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns for EOU, while Nick Calzaretta rushed for 54 yards and back-up quarterback Nathaniel Holcomb was 7-of-10 for 81 yards and a touchdown off the bench in the loss. Two months later in Caldwell, the Yotes piled up a season-high 612 yards of total offense in a wild 48-24 victory. Darius-James Peterson passed for a career-high 360 yards, as Connor Richardson (8 receptions, 142 yards, TD) and Keegan Crafton (5 receptions, 101 yards, 2 TD) led the way. Quinn passed for 451 yards and two scores, but the Yotes erased a 14-10 second quarter lead with 17-straight points and pulled away in the second half. AMONG THE TOP DRAWS IN THE NAIA: For the second-straight year, the Coyotes led all Division III and NAIA schools on the West Coast in attendance – averaging 3,154 fans per game over the five game home schedule. The Yotes were third among all NAIA schools – behind only Indiana Wesleyan (4,623) and St. Francis (3,313) – but well ahead of fellow Frontier Conference teams Montana Tech (2,324), Carroll (2,289) and Southern Oregon (2,269). C of I finished ahead of 22 NCAA Division I (FCS) teams; would have finished 61st among the 167 NCAA Division II squads; and would have ranked 20th of 250 Division III teams – ahead of George Fox (2,883), Chapman (2,537), Cal Lutheran (2,506), Linfield (2,376), Whitworth (1,816), Puget Sound (1,373), Pacific (1,229), Pacific Lutheran (1,077), Lewis & Clark (973) and Willamette (938). Since football returned to the C of I campus in 2014, the Yotes lead all NAIA football playing schools in total attendance, as 103,945 fans have entered the Simplot Stadium gates. HOMECOMING JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY: The annual Homecoming Week is just around the corner on the C of I campus, as the alumni office is set to welcome Coyotes back to campus Sept. 12-15. A pair of athletic reunions are in the works - as both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be having a special get-together, while the alpine and Nordic ski program is welcoming snow-sport athletes back to campus - as Hall of Fame coach Ernie Meissner will be on hand for the festivities. On the gridiron, the Yotes will play host to Southern Oregon in the annual Homecoming Game, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. TWO BYE WEEKENDS IN 2019: With the Coyotes playing just 10 dates during the 2019 season and the season opener pushed up a week to today, C of I will have not one, but two bye weekends during the season. Following the Homecoming Game vs. Southern Oregon, the Yotes will have two weeks to prep for a showdown in Billings against defending Frontier Conference champ, Rocky Mountain, followed by another two-week period before their match-up at Carroll College. In all, C of I will have 35 days between home games, as their only October date at Simplot Stadium is Oct. 19 vs. Montana Tech. BUNDLE UP FOR THE FINAL HOME GAMES: C of I closes out the 2019 regular season with consecutive home games - Noon kickoffs against Montana Western (Nov. 9) and Montana State-Northern (Nov. 16). The Nov. 16 kickoff will mark the latest finish date to a regular-season for the Coyotes since football returned and the latest home game for the team since a Nov. 18, 1972 game at Simplot Stadium against Eastern Washington. HOW TO WATCH THE GAMES: For the second-straight season, the Yotes are without a radio contract to broadcast games on the local airwaves. However, for fans unable to head to Caldwell, all home games will feature Live Video via C of I’s Stretch Internet/Presto Sports portal, with Voice of the Yotes, Mike Safford, calling the action. A video feed for all five road games will also be available - links will be posted to YoteAthletics.com, the online home of Coyote Athletics. POSITION PREVIEW - QUARTERBACKS: For the first time since 1953, the College of Idaho returns an all-conference selection at quarterback, as the Yotes head into the new season with a deep and talented group of signal callers. Four-year starter Darius-James Peterson has rewritten the Coyote record book and earned All-Frontier Conference honors after a stellar 2018 season – becoming just the seventh all-league quarterback in the 75-year history of the program. Peterson threw for a career-high 1,998 yards and 18 touchdown passes, while leading the squad with 822 rushing yards and 13 scores. He holds the school record with 42 rushing touchdowns, 4,483 passing yards and 7,164 yards of total offense are tops in C of I history, while his nearly 2,700 career rushing yards and 28 touchdown passes rank No. 2 all-time. The battle in fall camp has been for the No. 2 position – as senior Gage Ferguson and sophomore Nathaniel Holcomb have been impressive. Ferguson saw limited action last season, completing both of his pass attempts, while Holcomb threw for 421 yards and three scores in five contests – including 272 yards in a start vs. Montana Tech. Three freshmen add to the depth at the position – as Jacob Holcomb, Ryan Hibbs and Michael Stuck have adapted to the new offensive scheme in camp. Jacob Holcomb, the younger brother of the back-up candidate, was the Washington Gatorade Player of the Year at Puyallup High, leading his team to the 4A state semifinals. Hibbs was the 5A All-Southern Idaho Conference quarterback at Capital High in Boise, while Stuck was a dual-threat option at Placer High in California.

POSITION PREVIEW - RUNNING BACKS: The run game has been critical in the success of the College of Idaho football team – as the Coyotes have led the Frontier Conference in rushing yards per game each of the past three seasons. However, only once in the first five years since football returned, has a running back led the Yotes in rushing (Kyle Merritt in 2015). That unit includes three upper-classmen at running backs that combined to rush for over 1,000 yards during the 2018 season – part of the league-leading 175 yards per game on the ground. Nick Calzaretta has served as the featured back for most of the past two seasons – recovering from an early season injury last year to rush for 509 yards and a pair of scores. The physical junior is one of 17 players in program history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a career. Also returning is Dominic Garzoli, who has been a big play threat throughout his career. The junior rushed for 341 yards and four scores in 2018 – averaging 5.4 yards per carry – while contributing 19 receptions and two touchdowns in the pass game. Senior Justin Hellyer was also an impact player late last season, rushing for 206 yards and three scores (averaging 6.9 yards per carry) and catching 11 passes – while being one of C of I’s top special teams players and an outstanding blocker in the pass game. Four true freshmen are also in the mix and have had an outstanding fall camp. Ed Osterberger rushed for 2,457 yards and 24 touchdowns, earning 5A All-State honors at Timberline High; Andrew Bergey was an All-Southern Idaho Conference linebacker who has moved to the offensive side at C of I and is a physical runner; Matt Klassen played quarterback at Aberdeen High, but has moved to running back; while Tommy Dunham rushed for 890 yards and 12 scores his senior year at Valley Christian High in California. POSITION PREVIEW - RECEIVERS/TIGHT ENDS: For offensive coordinator Mike Cody, 173 of the 179 receptions return to the field this season – a great mix of speed, possession ability and size. Connor Richardson had a breakout season in 2018, as the converted quarterback led the Yotes in all receiving categories with 47 receptions for 619 yards and eight touchdowns. The junior became the first player in program history to catch a touchdown pass in six-straight games. He was complimented by speed-threat Hunter Juarez, who set a new C of I record by averaging 25.5 yards per grab. The sophomore, who started his college career at the University of Nevada, caught 22 passes for 561 yards and five scores. Also back is 6-foot-5 Keegan Crafton, who seamlessly made the transition from tight end to receiver in 2018, catching 27 passes for 448 yards and five touchdowns. Heading into his senior year, Crafton ranks among the Top-15 in C of I history in receptions, yards and touchdown receptions. Veterans add to the depth at receiver, as senior John Horn caught 12 passes for 172 yards and sophomore Bo Stevens had nine catches for 128 yards. Slot receivers in senior Tony Huebner and junior Keenan Pattwell each return to cause schematic challenges for opposing defenses, along with junior Devin Grant and redshirt freshman Isaiah Veal. Newcomers will press for time in the receiver rotation – including transfers Kendrick Brasby of Northwestern College and Tanner Donaldson of Azusa Pacific. Two local standouts, Blake Jablonski of Mountain View High and Carson Smith of Middleton, combined for 132 catches and 32 touchdowns as high school seniors, while the athletic Charlie Maynes from Lake Oswego, Ore., makes the transition from quarterback to receiver. Seven other freshmen are in the mix – Jake Nadley of Palisades High in California, Zeke Quintero of Jordan Valley High, Hudson Williams of Century High, Grant Garner of Vallivue High, Nelson Russell of Eagle High, Carson Jones of Boise High and Chase Burfeind of Caldwell High – all players who had impressive senior years in high school. The Yotes also return their top-three tight ends. Connor Gagain is the pass catcher of the group, recording 18 receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt freshman, while seniors Tyler Reay and Anatol Sklyar are bruising blockers in the run game. The position group has been helped by sophomore Canyon Olsen, a converted running back, along with true freshman Nico Reis, a 6-foot-4 target, originally from Brazil. POSITION PREVIEW—OFFENSIVE LINE: The Yotes led the Frontier Conference in rushing for the third straight season – averaging 175 yards on the ground per game and almost 250 yards per game over the final four contests of the year. The line also was solid in pass protection – surrendering just 11 total sacks over the final eight games of 2018. Tackles Josh Brown and Cy Hicks were workhorses last year – Brown extending his consecutive games started streak to 33, while Hicks started all 11 games as a true freshman. Brown, the left tackle, has an NFL type frame – standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 305 pounds – earning All-Frontier Conference honors in 2018. Hicks, a 6-foot-3, 280 pound sophomore, had a banner rookie season manning the right tackle slot. C of I has four true freshmen in the mix to back up the two tackles – all who have been impressive in camp. Four Idaho products – Mountain View teammates Camille Massaad (6-4, 265) and Ryan Halford (6-2, 265), along with Bishop Kelly All-State pick Garrett Rehberg (6-7, 275) and Skyline High’s Cole Owen (6-5, 280) – have been learning the offense and will provide needed depth. Three players who started games at guard in 2018 return – as Gabe Zurita-Haber (6-1, 300) started the bulk of the games on the left side, while the combination of Zach Rickard (6-1, 285) and Carter Ballenger (6-4, 315) split time on the right side. The trio has been pushed so far in camp by redshirt freshman Braden Bale (6-0, 275), along with true freshmen Clayton Wolfe (6-2, 280), an All-State pick from Homedale High, and Avery Cook (6-4, 280), an All-Section pick from Grace Brethren High in California. Returner Chase Owen (6-2, 285), along with true freshmen Garrett Klock (6-2, 265) and J.P. Cardillo (6-3, 280) have been improving throughout camp and are in the mix. At center, 3-year starter Ricky Bowman Jr. returns for his senior season – giving the Yotes stability as the leader of the line. The 6-foot-1, 280 pounder has started 27-of-33 games in his career, earning All-Frontier Conference honors as a junior. Sophomore Drew Leick (6-2, 275) started two games last season, with Zurita-Haber also a very capable back-up at center. POSITION PREVIEW - DEFENSIVE BACKS: On the outside, both starters return – as Tristen Alesi has been a mainstay of the C of I defense for the past three seasons, while Isaiah Abdul earned the starting role as a true freshman and had an outstanding year. Alesi led the unit with five interceptions, including a pick-six at Montana State-Northern, while Abdul had 43 tackles and 11 passes defended – adding a touchdown on a blocked punt return at Eastern Oregon. Three returners – senior Grayson McClain, sophomore Cameron Hamrick and redshirt freshman Tony Murphy also return – providing experience at corner. McClain led the trio with 12 tackles in 2018. Also on the outside, incoming freshmen Dorian Hardin and Bridger Marboe have been impressive in camp – Hardin, an All-Western Conference pick from Oak Harbor, Wash., with Marboe earning 5A All-State honors at Eagle High. At safety, the Yotes have options. Four players – David Ford, Taeson Hardin, Josh Elsberry and Jordan Nero – are all fighting for the three starting slots. Ford had an outstanding sophomore year and has been repping in the strong safety slot after ranking second on the team with 77 tackles and two interceptions in 2018. Taeson Hardin looks to replace All-Frontier Conference pick Nik Lyons at the rover spot after recording 19 tackles in an injury-plagued freshman season. Elsberry is battling for the free safety position spot, with Nero, who has played multiple positions during his C of I career, looking to rebound after an injury at Portland State ended his season. Four other returners provide experience in the secondary – juniors Jae Vitin and Moses Nyirakomini, sophomore Trevor Manu and redshirt freshman Bridger Mortensen. Depth at the safety positions will be helped by a quality group of incoming freshmen – many with the potential to earn a spot on the field in 2019. Two of the newcomers – Will Janney from California and Deshun Harwell, a two-sport athlete at C of I – are bigger defensive backs (Janney stands 6-foot-2, Harwell stands 6-foot-1), while both Jack Molesworth and Jacob Batubenga are physical players. Other freshmen defensive backs, including Robbie Johnson, Hayden Ruiz-Dondero, Austin Steblay, Grant Miller, Troy Hothan, Cody Nixon and Davis Fischer, will all be battling for time in dime packages or on special teams units.

POSITION PREVIEW - LINEBACKERS: The Yotes will have to replace three players who saw action in 2018 – as injuries forced part-time starter Drew Faircloth to the sidelines, while freshmen Viliami Hanson and Jesse Estrada did not return in 2019. However, experience is still key in the middle – as three-year starter and two-time All-Frontier Conference selection Forrest Rivers is back. The senior had 61 tackles and 10 tackles for loss before missing the final two games due to injury. He’ll be complimented by returning starter Graham Carnahan, as the junior logged 43 tackles and nine tackles for loss in his first season in the Purple and Gold. The Coyotes are excited about the options behind the veterans – as a trio of players look to make an immediate impact. Redshirt freshman Mack Roesner had an outstanding spring – a player that recorded consecutive 100-tackle seasons at Marin Catholic High in 2016 and 2017. Sophomore transfer J.T. Mahon saw action last season on special teams at the University of Idaho after recording 495 tackles and 17 interceptions during his prep career at Council High. True freshman Dylan Martinez will contend for playing time after leading the 5A ranks with 147 tackles at Mountain View High, earning All-State honors. Junior Mika Duran will push to join the linebacker rotation and will be a key member of the Yotes special teams, with redshirt sophomore Justin Johnson and redshirt freshman Masen Medl, along with freshmen – Kainoa China and Noah Beltz – also in the mix. POSITIONAL PREVIEW - DEFENSIVE LINE: Three seniors are the key at the tackle position – as Zach White, Demetreus Taua and James Roy bring 13 seasons of experience to the squad. Both White and Taua recorded career-best numbers in 2018, White logging 30 tackles and two sacks, with Taua adding 32 tackles, with Roy adding 18 stops. They’ll be joined by junior Brock Funke, who recorded 10 tackles after making the move from linebacker to the interior line. Five freshmen will also battle for time in the tackle rotation. Redshirt Vince Seth returns after an injury derailed his 2018 season, with California natives Gino Allen and Jonathan Aamodt, along with Idaho products Warren Craig and Tyson Matthews, have all had great camps. Sophomore Keagan McCoy and senior Oscar Reyes will bounce between the interior line and the end spots. McCoy had a banner rookie season, finishing with 37 tackles and four sacks, while leading the team with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Reyes added 12 tackles – with three of the stops behind the line of scrimmage. Both starting ends return – as Danny Garcia and Landon Clark-Gammell had outstanding 2018 seasons. Garcia led the Yotes with 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks – in just seven games, while Clark-Gammell recorded career-best numbers of 34 tackles, four sacks and seven quarterback hurries. Three returners will look to join the rotation – as sophomore Triden Mitchell makes the move from the offensive side of the ball and stands at 6-foot-5, with both Miles Maupin and Mykah Weaver coming off of redshirt seasons. Five freshmen are also key, as Treasure Valley products Luke McLaughlin, Cade Flint, Declan Smith and Alex Ojukwu are joined by California standout, Kiran Jain. POSITION PREVIEW - SPECIAL TEAMS: The Coyotes had the most efficient place-kicking units in the Frontier Conference, while opponents’ average starting field position on kickoffs was the 23-yard-line. C of I did damage on their return units, as punt returners averaged nearly 13 yards an attempt, while the kickoff returners averaged nearly 20 yards a tote. Four-year starting kicker, Kyle Mitchell, holds every record in the Coyote annuals and is coming off his best season yet. Mitchell made 43-of-45 extra points – including taking a string of 33 PAT’s in a row into 2019 – while making 7-of-8 field goals, with his 45-yard kick at Montana Western establishing a new school record. The senior has made 110 extra points and 16 field goals in his career and ranks No. 4 on the all-time scoring list among all players. Punter Spencer Lambert returns for his senior season after posting a solid second half of 2018. The transfer averaged 38.1 yards per attempt a year ago, but that mark climbed to 40 yards a punt over the final five games of the season. The duo will be backed up by true freshman, Jacob Johnson. Three players will battle for the long and short-snapping role. Junior Jake Bale has handled the bulk of the duties the past two seasons, but is being pushed in camp by sophomore Jacob Torres and freshman Mikee Farrar. The kick return game looks to be strong – as both Keenan Pattwell and Dominic Garzoli are back. Pattwell has averaged over 22 yards a return in his C of I career, while Garzoli averaged 16 yards a return as a sophomore. Look for seniors Justin Hellyer and Tony Huebner, along with freshmen Blake Jablonski and Carson Smith, to also be in the mix. C of I will have to replace All-Frontier Conference punt returner, Nik Lyons, who averaged a league-best 12 yards a return in 2018. Both Pattwell and Huebner have experience returning punts for the Yotes, while sophomores Taeson Hardin and Isaiah Abdul may also be in the mix. RECORD BOOK: Last season, Kyle Mitchell set a new single-game record with his 45-yard field goal at Montana Western, while tying the school record for extra points in a game (8 at MSU-Northern) and kick scoring points in a game (12 vs. Eastern Oregon). Nathaniel Holcomb set a new single-game record with 44 pass attempts vs. Montana Tech, while Darius-James Peterson tied the school record with four touchdown passes vs. Eastern Oregon. A total of nine players rank on the career Top-25 list, led by Peterson, who holds the school record for rushing touchdowns (42), passing yards (4,483), total offense (7,164) and touchdowns responsible – ranking No. 2 in rushing yards (2,681), pass completions (312), pass attempts (562), touchdown passes (28), total touchdowns (42) and points scored (252) and No. 3 in rushing attempts (488). Mitchell holds the school record for extra points made (110), extra points attempted (115) and field goals made (16), ranking No. 4 in points scored (158); Keegan Crafton ranks No. 4 in career touchdown receptions (9), No. 10 in receiving yards, No. 13 in receptions and No. 25 in total touchdowns (9); Connor Richardson is No. 8 in touchdown receptions (8) and No. 14 in both receptions (49) and receiving yards (628); Tristen Alesi is No. 8 in interceptions (7); Nick Calzaretta is No. 12 in rushing touchdowns (12), No. 17 in rushing yards (1,031), No. 18 in rushing attempts (232), No. 19 in total touchdowns (12), No. 22 in points scored (72) and No. 25 in total offense (1,031); Hunter Juarez is No. 16 in touchdown receptions (4) and No. 17 in receiving yards (561); Holcomb is No. 17 in touchdown passes (3), No. 19 in pass completions (37) and No. 21 in passing yards (421); with Dominic Garzoli No. 21 in touchdown receptions and No. 25 in receptions (32). COACHING CHANGES: C of I returns both of their coordinators, as Chris Jewell enters his sixth year as defensive coordinator and will work with the linebackers, while Mike Cody is in his fourth year as offensive coordinator and works with the quarterbacks. Wide receivers coach Brian Taylor returns and is joined on the offensive side by new offensive line coach, Matt McFadden and new running backs coach, Art Roper. Jon Choate, the Yotes special teams coordinator, will team with newcomer Armand Nance, to coach the defensive tackles and ends, with Shiloh Keo returning to coach the safeties. Three former Coyote players will also be key in the player development - as Nik Lyons will coach the corners, Troy Carr will assist with the linebackers and Charlie Shepherd will assist with the receivers.

Mike Moroski begins his sixth season as head coach at the College of Idaho and has an 24-31 all-time record. His 2018 squad closed the season with a six-game win streak and ended the campaign ranked No. 22 in the NAIA - the highest national ranking in program history, with the six victories in both 2017 and 2018 marking the first back-to-back six-win seasons at the College since 1954 and 1955. Was named head coach in January of 2013 and led the Yotes through their "zero year" program, prior to the return to the field in September of 2014. He has coached a three-time NAIA All-American (Nate Moore), two Preseason All-Americans (Moore, Marcus Lenhardt), 12 All-Frontier Conference selections, 20 NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes, 14 Academic All-District selections and 87 Frontier Conference All-Academic Team selections. A native of Novato, Calif., Moroski played quarterback at UC-Davis from 1975-78, earning Far West Conference Player of the Year honors in both 1977 and 1978, and leading the Aggies to the 1977 Division II national semifinals. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth-round of the 1979 NFL Draft, spending eight years as a backup quarterback with the Falcons (1979-84), the Houston Oilers (1985) and the San Francisco 49ers (1986). Moroski began his coaching tenure at UC Davis in 1987, coaching every position group - serving as offensive coordinator from 1993 to 2010, with his offense ranked second in the NCAA Division II in scoring (41 points per game), earning Moroski Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
