Retail MerchandisingThe Retail Merchandising concentration provides specialized training that will assist the student in meeting a diverse and challenging career in the retail industry. Many excellent opportunities are provided that will broaden the scope of education and experience in retail. General Family & Consumer SciencesWithin the General Family and Consumer Sciences concentration, students take courses in each of the eight areas. Students are encouraged to obtain a minor in a related discipline. General Family and Consumer Sciences majors may find employment not only in many of the eight areas, with the exception of teaching, but also in related FCS fields.

Family & Consumer Sciences EducationThe concentration in Family and Consumer Sciences Education integrates professional preparation for teaching with clinical observations and internships in a middle or high school setting. Because of the diversity of FCS school courses taught, students take courses in – apparel construction and textiles, food science and production, nutrition, consumerism, financial literacy, housing and interior design, human development,hospitality and event management.

ScholarshipsThe Department of Family and Consumer Sciences makes scholarships available to qualified students annually.
