In FY19, more
instructors have
utilized our services for
Classroom testing.
With the addition of
the Math Transitions
Program, high school
testing has increased by 75%.
While there was 20%
increase in Math
placement testing,
there continues to be
an overall decline in
placement testing.
This is due to more
students submitting
ACT/SAT scores or
sending in high school
transcripts with
qualifying GPA’s to
fulfill prerequisites.
10
Placement Testing College of DuPage uses ACCUPLACER and ALEKS PPL for placement testing.
Students who are required to take placement tests for course or program
requirements use ACCUPLACER for reading, writing and ELS prerequisite
requirements and ALEKS PPL for math placement. An ALEKS Geometry test is available for students who need to meet
that requirement.

Dual Credit
This program provides high school students the opportunity to receive both college and high
school credit for select courses. Classes are taught at the District 502 high school during
the school day by high school teachers who are also approved as COD adjunct faculty. The
Academic Testing Coordinator works with the Dual Credit Coordinator and Enrollment
Services to provide on-site placement testing if needed.
Math Transitions
This program provides high school graduates the opportunity to place into college-level
math courses without the need for remediation. During the 2018-2019 school year, 21 high
schools in District 502 participated in this program by offering a Transitional Math course to
seniors. A component of this course was the utilization of ALEKS PPL. In collaboration with
College administrators, faculty and other departments, the Academic Testing Coordinator
provided testing support for ALEKS PPL. Some schools requested on-site testing for their
students while other schools provided transportation for their students to the Glen Ellyn
campus to take a proctored ALEKS PPL test.
Placement Testing at High Schools
High schools with a significant number of future COD students also requested on-site
placement testing. A few schools, including those from alternative high schools, transported
their students to take placement tests at the Glen Ellyn Testing Center.

FY20 Goals Off-Campus Learning Commons Off-campus Learning Commons academic support related goals are in the Learning Commons Annual Report.
Expand off-campus testing services by providing faculty the option to submit classroom exams electronically through the COD portal. Electronic submission is a convenient
option for faculty and students that provides the opportunity for students to take their classroom exam at any of the main or off-campus testing locations.
The private testing rooms in Addison and Carol Stream were completed last year. Having this private space will enable the off-campus Learning Commons to increase accommodated academic and specialized testing in FY20.
Improve the efficiency of off-campus testing operations.
