Collaboration Assessment Bluefield State College EPP Meeting May 3, 2018 - 9:30 a.m. Present: Dr. Shelia Sargent-Martin, Dr. Darrell Thompson, Mrs. Terene Stiltner, Mrs. Amanda Banks, and Ms. Gail Rozzel. Student Teachers Evaluations: Mrs. Amanda Banks’s name is in the Livetext as an instructor to put in information in Livetext. All evaluations have been entered and data is being compiled for review at the data meeting on May 17, 2018. Darrell discussed submissions of case studies in EDUC 200 Child/Adolescent Growth and Development scoring in Livetext. Portfolio: Are in the process of being graded and will be completed by May 11, 2018 in order to provide final grades for spring student teachers. Thus far, they are looking good. We need to remind student to label sections appropriately. We will plan to have Portfolio completion training for fall student teaching candidates prior to start of fall classes. Grading the portfilios will be done by three EPP professors. Data Review: Faculty discussed the data implementation of the content-specific unit plans in the EDUC 333 course. This approach was taken because due to the implementation of new testing policy, in which students can take and pass the 5-9 Praxis for content certification without completing the program. Therefore, they may not take EDUC 421-Methods in Teaching course where the unit plan could be housed. Discussion also included moving the content-based unit plan courses to other methods courses (MATH 333, EDUC 333, and SPED 313). The topic will be addressed in the fall EPPAC meeting requesting input from P-12 stakeholders, faculty, and students. TPA: Instructors will put data in the Excel document to send to HEPC. We will plan to have TPA training for fall student teaching candidates prior to start of fall classes. The TPA’s seems to be more distinguished this year in part due to the faculty becoming better at identifying areas for student improvement. Lesson Plans: Darrell discussed lesson plan breakdown (breaking down the lesson plan into parts) in EDUC 280 General Methods. Recruitment Plan: Amanda Banks will check into college recruitment plan and resource plan in order to revise our current strategies. We need to further address the need to go into High schools and have presentations with specific focus on Mercer County, Tazewell County, Russell County, and MC Tech. Darrell plans to meet with George Brown, Superintendent for Tazewell County, to discuss the dual enrollment program (set-up meeting in summer by July 1 2018). TEAC: Meeting will be held Friday April 27, 2018 in Flatwoods. Shelia did attend. PDS: PDS workshop on April 30-May 1, 2018 in Flatwoods - Kristan Wimmer, Ashley Taylor, and Nicole Davis from our partnership schools were in attendance. Shelia is also attending. She will also ask Dr. Lambert if we can grant credit for trauma training, and/or discount classes. See if PDS can pay for certification and Background checks. Kidz Kollege: Applications are available on Bluefield State College online page. Kidz Kollege starts June 11-15, 2018 for grades 3-5. This is also a good recruitment effort. Music 130 Higher Ed. Center: Will be on the fall 2018 schedule at the Erma Byrd Center in Beckley. May 30, 2018 CAEP Self-Study report is due. Next Meeting: TBA
