Oct  28th:    AIA  AusKn  Advocacy  Roundtable  on  Planning  focusing  on  CodeNEXT    Nov  20th:    AIA  and  CNU  created  a  CodeNEXT  Task  Force  to  provide  input  to  OpKcos  by  Dec  16th.    (We’d  like  to  include  ASLA  in  our  group.)    

Nov  25th:    Task  Force  fleshes  out  Top  Ten  Issue  Areas  &  recruits  Issue  leaders  and  members  to:  1.   IDENTIFY  AND  PRIORITIZE  KEY  PROBLEMS  with  the  LDC  issue  areas  and  the

Example:  HOUSEHOLD  AFFORDABILITY  &  COMPACT  DEVELOPMENT  PROBLEM/ISSUE:    Certain  site  development  regula*ons  restrict  housing  types  and  

nega*vely  impact  housing  affordability  -­‐  par*cularly  in  the  current  SF-­‐3  zoning  district  -­‐  such  as:  •  Minimum  lot  sizes  require  large  amounts  of  land  and  hinders  “compact  and  

connected”  development  padern    •  Minimum  front,  side  and  rear  lot  setbacks    

•  Maximum  impervious  and  building  cover  prohibits  higher  u*liza*on  of  land  

•  Minimum  off-­‐street  parking  is  land-­‐consump*ve  and  does  not  recognize  promote  other  transporta*on  op*ons  

•  Secondary  or  accessory  units  not  allowed,  reducing  the  flexibility  for  homeowners  to  stay  in  their  neighborhood  -­‐  have  op*ons  for  different  phases  of  their  life  

PROPOSED  APPROACH:    Develop  and  allow  “affordable  by  design”  housing  types  throughout  a  broad  spectrum  of  zoning  districts;  and  develop  urban  design  standards  for  these  new  types  to  assure  compa*bility  in  exis*ng  single-­‐family  neighborhoods.      

CASE  STUDIES:    Mueller,  Pocket  Neighborhoods,  Microhousing  Units,  etc.    Elaborate  on  these  per  format  described  in  the  online  survey  (address  below).
