The Plant Cell Roller Coaster- The Best Ever

The Plant Cell is a very unique roller coaster. On the ride, you encounter the plant cell’s organelles at a fast pace. Coby Kranz, CELL LAND’s owner, says that his favorite part of the ride is “the huge drop into the vacuole.”

The ride took over two years to build because of all the detail that was put into it. The ride takes up one-fourth of CELL LAND, is outdoors and goes under water (vacuole). Each ride in the Plant Cell takes five minutes and sixteen-seconds; however, we have over twenty-five roller coaster cars so there is never a long wait. The Plant Cell is super fun!

Cell Wall Beginning and End of the Ride A layer of nonliving material surrounding the plant cell.

Cell Membrane Steep Hill Controls what goes in and out of the cell

Golgi Apparatus A few loops Receives and Distributes proteins and other materials

Rough ER Twirls and Zigzags (this is to symbolize the Rough ER because it is a maze of passageways)

a maze of passageways that carries proteins and other materials from one part of the cell to the other

Lysosomes A few humps small structures in cells that provide protection for the cell and break down food particles into smaller ones.

Mitochondria You cart gets a huge burst of speed from a steep hill ( to symbolize the energy of the mitochondria)

Nucleus Center of the ride and the beginning of an extremely steep hill.

A large oval structure that directs the cells’s activities. (Nuclear pores, nuclear membrane, nucleolus and genetic material).

Vacuole This is where the ride goes under water. This symbolizes that the vacuole in a plant cell mainly stores water.

The storage area of a cell.

Cytoplasm You now come out of the water and do a few big loops.

The area between the cell membrane and the nucleus.

Chloroplast The ride begins to slow down and hits a few bumps.

Particularly to plant cells, these organelles capture energy from sunlight and use it to produce food.
