UNDERBODY/UNDERHOOD TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTIONS

E61BC520 is a two-component, low gloss waterborne epoxy black primer for use on metal & plastic substrates. The coating offers excellent corrosion, chip resistance, and adhesion at lower film thicknesses. It offer the capability of single layer primer applications, or can be topcoated with waterborne polyurethanes.

Advantages:

■■ VOC – less than 1.3 lb/gal

■■ Excellent chemical resistance

■■ Low odor

■■ Fast drying

■■ Excellent chip resistance

■■ Excellent gloss stability

■■ Excellent corrosion protection

■■ Formulated free of heavy metals (including zinc)

E61BC519 is a low gloss water reducible alkyd primer. This formulais an air-dry, ready-to-spray technology with good corrosion and chemical resistance. It offers the capability of single layer primer applications, or it can be topcoated with waterborne polyurethanes. Advantages:

■■ VOC – less than 3.0 lb/gal HAPS free

■■ Fast air dry

■■ Excellent adhesion and early moisture resistance

E61B571 KEM AQUA® 70P is a low gloss, water reducible black metal primer that can be used on a variety of metal substrates. Offering the advantage of early moisture resistance, this technology is fast-drying with good corrosion properties and chemical resistance as well as flexibility. The primer can be used as a single stage primer or topcoat.

Advantages:

■■ VOC – less than 2.8 lb/gal

■■ Excellent corrosion resistance

■■ Early moisture resistance

■■ No flash point

■■ Excellent flexibility

E90B1 / V93V234 is a two-component, low gloss, solvent-based, high solids DTM (direct-to-metal) epoxy. This primer offers fast drying, corrosion resistant properties suitable for metal substrates. It can be used as a single primer application or topcoated with solvent or water-based topcoats.

Advantages:

■■ VOC – less than 1.0 lb/gal as packaged

■■ Good combination of potlife and dry

■■ Outstanding corrosion protection

■■ Excellent flow characteristics

*The blasted panels were prepared with additional 1.5 to 2.0 coating thickness above and beyond the recommended dft as stated on the technical data sheet for each primer tested. This ensure that the 2.0 mil profile on the balsted panel is properly protected with the required paint dft.

**Chemical Tests: The following spot tests were performed on the coatings listed and the ratings reflect their performance rankings to these specific chemicals. (Ethylene Glycol / Anti-Freeze; Gear Lubricant; Alkali; Ultra Tide ; Hydraulic Fluid; Motor Oil; Diesel Fuel & Gasoline)

E61BC32 is a two-component low gloss, solvent-based, high performance black primer for use on Metal & Plastic substrates. This coating offers fast drying, anti-corrosive properties suitable for metal substrates and can be used as a single primer application or topcoated with solvent or water-based topcoats.

Advantages:

■■ VOC – less than 3.5 lb/gal

■■ Good weathering

■■ Haps Free

■■ Excellent hardness

■■ Excellent corrosion resistance

■■ Common option catalyst with Polane topcoats

E2A960 / V6V921 DTM Epoxy Sealer is a two-component, solvent-based, low gloss gray primer/sealer. It offers fast drying, anti-corrosive properties and excellent direct-to-metal adhesion over properly prepared steel and aluminum substrates.

Advantages:

■■ VOC – 2.1 lb./gallon

■■ Excellent direct-to-metal adhesion

■■ Requires no induction time

■■ Good flexibility

■■ Excellent adhesion over aluminum

■■ Smooth finished appearance

■■ Can be topcoated as soon as 30 minutes after priming
