Financial Aid for Continuing Education Step 1:

If you have not done so, apply for your FSA ID to electronically sign your FAFSA at fsaid.ed.gov. Eastfield School Code is 008510. Go to fafsa.ed.gov to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Use the tax information from two years prior to complete the application. On the website, you will see a drop-down menu to select which FAFSA year you are requesting aid for.

• 2018/2019 FAFSA will be used for the 2018 Fall and 2019 Spring and Summer semesters. Your 2016 tax information will be used to complete this application.

Step 2: You will receive an email confirmation from the Department of Education (FAFSA) once your application has been received. When the FAFSA is received by DCCCD, you will be sent an email if additional information is needed to complete your file. You must check your email during this time to ensure you receive any notifications. Read all documents closely to see if the application is complete or if you have been selected for verification. If selected for verification, the process can take six to eight weeks to complete. Submit all required documents as soon as possible as this is a federal requirement to receive aid. The FAFSA needs to be 100 percent complete before submitting Texas Public Education Grant-Continuing Education application.

Step 3: Once you have completed all steps to finish the FAFSA, you are ready to submit a completed TPEG-CE application to the Financial Aid Office in C100. This form can be requested from financial aid or the CE office. You will need the course/section information, course start/end dates, and tuition amount entered on the application (Example: EDTC 1094 - 43200: 8/21/2017 – 12/10/2017: $500). Please send your completed form to Nora Ramirez, [email protected], so we can double check your application before submitting to financial aid. This will help to ensure that your information is correctly entered and there are no delays. Processing the TPEG-CE application, once submitted to financial aid, can take seven to 10 business days. Once awarded, you must follow procedures to accept and activate your award on eConnect before any money can be paid toward your classes.

Note: As it relates to the TPEG process, there are two options to register for classes: Option 1: You can register prior to receiving the results of your TPEG award and pay 100 percent out of pocket to secure a space in the course. You can do this even if you have not yet completed the financial aid process. Once the financial aid process is complete, you will be reimbursed if funds are still available. This is the only way to guarantee a seat in the class as all CE classes require payment the day of registration. The earlier you apply, the more likely it is that funds are still available. Option 2: If you are unable to pay for full tuition up front, you will have to wait to register until your financial aid award is fully processed. TPEG funds are limited, so it is strongly advised that you apply at least six to eight weeks before your class begins. No course seats will be held. There is a chance a class may fill up and you would have to wait until the next offering of the course. However, you will not have to pay the full amount out of pocket without knowing the results of your TPEG application.

If you have questions about TPEG and the financial aid process, please contact: Nora Ramirez, Enrollment Services Representative, 972-391-1056; [email protected], W137 Financial Aid Call Center: 972-587-2599; [email protected]; C125
